Aces51
It's difficult to explain. Aces and Swindon are in a similar position with the fast track riders. Both have one good rider, Worrall and Nielsen and a second rider who has struggled. Most Aces supporters I have spoken to like the new format and crowds seem to be up whereas Swindon supporters on here seen against it and apparently crowds are down. van wolfswinkel
Five pints in a couple of hours? I bet you miss half of the racing anyway going backwards and forwards all night to the bogs on the back straight. Most people are too scared to go there. Out of the roughly 1000 there probably quite a few freeloaders. Can remember freeloading for one meeting 2 years ago, courtesy of Patch, when my brother was over from Oz. There was a gert long list of names. Agree 17 quid is a lot to pay, we pick and choose meetings depending on weather and opposition, would get bored going every week anyway. Must be losing a lot of money as crowds tumble, would have been around 1500 a few years ago. Was a display full of fight and character from the depleted Robins that should see them moving up the table.

Don't think it's really that ..the Moment Leigh Adams left the crowds dropped and have never pick up bar the odd match since ...The crowds being poor have not just been this season . Not sure we will see a rider that would have such an effect on a club as Adams had . Edited June 7, 2014 by orion

Cant disagree with that,Swindon have been so lucky Briggs,Ashby, Crump senior and Leigh sod the team you would go just to watch them everyweek.Even Kilby was top notch for long periods and we see the classy Autrey for one season we were so fortunate i believe. I think the difference is that BV are on their way up after a few years in the wilderness, while Swindon are on their way down after several seasons of being championship contenders.

BV teams of the the past five years have been absolutely terrible, at least this one shows a little bit of ambition.
Aces51
I can see that both the Aces potentially having a better season than recent years and the loss of the irreplaceable Leigh Adams could explain the crowd levels. However, that doesn't explain the dislike by many Swindon fans of the fast track system. Speaking to fans at Belle Vue what many like about the new system is seeing British NL riders given an opportunity to progress and the new format, which provides more races involving riders of similar ability. It will be interesting to see if that attitude changes following our poor away form and a number of matches where our reserves have been heavily outscored by their opposite numbers. If Aces fans had shown the Colts a bit more support then you would have your own home grown belting reserves this year. I don't know who out of the current crop would be BV assets but Steve and Graham do a fantastic unsung job with the youngsrers up there but the yiungsters have to see possibilties of progession which the draft will give them sadly otherwise they will go elsewhere Edited June 7, 2014 by TMW

You forgot Leonard Raba...he really was rabbish Agree since Leigh went the crowds have gone down, perhaps they lost a few hundred last year when riders weren't trying because of non-payment. If Poole are there on a warm summer's evening a big crowd is guaranteed. The riders you mentioned were Swindon through and through, and they don't appear to have a top rider like that now who the crowd can warm to. If the losses had been less then the promotion would probably have carried on. As to having had good reserves if the Colts had continued, not so sure. Garrett was an asset but had issues and went to Rye House, Howarth was already a Poole asset from their Bournemouth days and there wasn't really anyone else who has progressed unless I've forgotten someone. May have discovered someone if we had continued though, who knows. Edited June 7, 2014 by Aces51

stratton
There was not much better than Leigh and Lee or Leigh and Zagar racing as a pairing.Leigh i think "ORLOV "was great in his team riding of James Wright and David Ruud.I can't wait to see his son Declan ride i hope so and Leigh can help and return i hope his lad is a success hard to follow his old man though. Adder
Five pints in a couple of hours? I bet you miss half of the racing anyway going backwards and forwards all night to the bogs on the back straight. Given the way meetings are strung out these days with big delays between several heats I have plenty of time to ensure my trips to the bar and the bogs don't impinge on my viewing of the racing. I certainly don't frequent the bogs on the backstraight though. I'm not that brave!!
