Belle Vue National Stadium

Yes. Alan had about 4 riders sponsored with very distinctive black mudguards, with a series of sponsors in blocks down the guards covering the front forks legs. Also the fork cover was black with Ham Racing in green dots. I have them on one of my bikes. The Riders who were sponsored were Scott, Tai ?, Auty, Wrathall. Possibly Joe Haines as well.

And before them, Mark Loram.

That's right.

Yes, that's why Mark, Joe Screen and Gary Havelock, made one of the most potent heat leader trio's in the league around that time, they all got paid on time, even Wiggy made a special plea to Allan to open a track nearer his home in Oxford, would have gladly rode for him there after he rode for Allan at Odsal. Everybody wanted to ride for the Ham brothers.

Wiggy didn't live in Oxford

BSI and the FIM will no doubt be happy to go back to Belle Vue if and when a new management structure is in place. The staging of the SWC there this year was a nightmare for both of them although, of course, the meetings themselves were terrific.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes right now but it is confidential and the last thing I or Speedway Star would want to do is rock the boat and endanger the prospects of a sustained and viable future for the NSS.

I do think that is entirely possible but at the time BSI had to notify the FIM of a venue for a SWC round it was sensible to plump for King's Lynn, which after all has done so very well in the past.

The Final was terrific. The race off was one of the dullest meetings I have been to in recent years.

So, if money from BSI was needed (and it was'nt anywhere near £200k but still a fair bit) to allow the WTC weekend to go ahead, did that ring alarm bells at BSPA? If so - what was done?, if not - why not? What was going on behind the scenes? We may never know.

I seem to remember £10k being the sum paid by BSI.

weve probably all heard rumours about riders being owed money and rent not been paid at belle vue

unfortunatly its part of speedway and other clubs are in the same boat

not only in britten whats the point of riders going topoland for big points money when they dont get paid

Money is often owed but not at the level that BV owe money. They paid zero rent to MCC, Zero of the highest rent is a staggering difference.
