Little Thumper
I agree Little Thumper. Caravan parking on the NSS centre green is very much a non-starter. I am surprised tat such an idea is even been put forward on this thread. In any case isn't the centre green designated for sports use - hockey, football, rugby etc. Yes, gustix, a lot of people are talking balls.....but I haven't seen many of them on the centre green. Perhaps the school sprogs come and thwack something round from time to time. Keep the ideas coming - we're bound to find a winner before too long and then the new entrepreneurs can flounce in and claim all the credit. Make it so. If The BSPA are going to step in as tenants maybe the stadium and track could be let out to two or more promotions. eg BV and Slough Friend pugwash, I'm probably being a little slow here, but what has Slough got to do with anything? You're obviously quite new on here? On going joke that you've probably missed. Mind you gustix liked your post so he's no doubt missed the joke as well. foamfence
It's typical of Councils nowadays ,they have a brand new facility and haven't a clue what to do with it.They just hope the money floods in.Probably be sold for housing in the future . Well you could hardly blame them if it was, after the way they've been ripped off. I think they've been more than generous in allowing the current situation to continue, hopefully a new broom will get it right.

So, spill the beans - what is going on at Slough? I am led to believe from the wallahs in the National League Room that Crawley are having a new speedway track but if Slough is coming on board as well, then that is fantastic news! I look forward to hearing all about it. Be careful out there.

Will we ever know what went on.The general public don't get to know the conditions attach to deal even if a new broom comes in.Fantastic speedway faclility though has to be sorted out.
pugwash
What like some kind of a site for the travelling community? Now we are thinking outside the box! They would have to keep their dogs well under control on speedway nights and stop them trying to bite the riders' legs. I wasn't refering to a Gypo site more in the line of caravan racing. There's quite a bit of interest on the BSF for these more diverse motorsport formats in fact a format of souped up banger racing seems to have it's own thread. If you have missed the thrilling installments here's a link to the rivetting dialogue that can be found on there; http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=83019&page=1 You may notice that most of the posts are just copy and pastes that eminate from the same poster, which you may find somwhat bizarre. Tsunami
Will we ever know what went on.The general public don't get to know the conditions attach to deal even if a new broom comes in.Fantastic speedway faclility though has to be sorted out. Eventually yes, But in the meanwhile those that don't know, will bring in unknown or untrue 'facts', debate what might not be true, and use the whole fiasco to ride their own particular horse for good measure. I don't pretend to know all the ins and outs here, except what happened in the week before the opening, but some of statements being made are just not true and some not even relevant to the main issue. Hows about waiting to find out more what really happened and/or might be going to happen, before some on here find themselves in a court of law. It's not big to invent things and point the finger about issues and events, that we don't know with any certainty happened. All we do know, or can surmise, is the development was badly handed from the beginning, and there needs to be some sort of compromise commitments by many to keep the development alive.

I'm not entirely sure calling a Council-Funded Residential Site for Members of the Travelling Community a "Gypo Site" would score top marks in the politically-correct stakes, but there you go! As you instructed, I have had read the fascinating information about caravan racing and when I woke up I concluded that your "Gypo Site" idea would probably be the better option. Bring it on.
martinmauger
Juts think; in 1997 one could have bought Hull's Craven Park (lock, stock, barrel with speedway track in situ) for - £600,000. Oh, how I had wished like never before for a row of colourful numberd balls to line up and match my predictions....

Anyway, here's a little snippet so make yourself comfortable, get the popcorn opened and a bottle of pop and have a read of this thread which I've managed to find. Edit........Blimey! I didn't realise there were 26 pages. Better make that two bags of popcorn and another bottle of pop. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=70472&hl=slough Edited November 6, 2016 by Gemini

While the project made them heroes, it also exposed them as out of their depth. Unless Morton already knows what the future of the club and it's promotion is, and has had the nod, I doubt that anyone wanting to take-over the club would want to be associated with this sorry mess. A NEW start is very much needed and hopefully very soon.
secsy1
A complete fresh start is required at Belle Vue with new faces to push the club forward. No good arguing about who did what or said that, its done and time to move on. Leaving all behind is the way forward for everyone, especially Belle Vue.

At least a few months (probably a couple of years) too late, never mind how many thousands of pounds such a delay may have cost him personally. Says he hasn't "given up hope of having some part in the future of the club" ... as a wonderfully experienced and successful rider, of course, that can still be the case by means of advising/coaching current and future riders. But in terms of having any part in the business side of the running of the club, dream on !!
