Daniel Smith
If the track is so poor for racing surely Helmsley can see what the fans can see. So why doesn't he something about it ? That's what the Leicester fans are saying, they're complaining directly but he keeps telling them it's perfect. He's blinkered because he built it but he mustn't take his eye off the ball or his paying public will desert him.
Leicester Lion
Unusually, I'm going to sound a bit like a clichéd Hemsley apologist here. I did count one pass after the second corner, Stead cut inside Porsing on bend 4 lap 1 of heat 1. But that was it. Normal for Leicester. I've never understood the obsession and excitement surrounding track records. The faster a race winner goes, the less chance an opponent has of catching him. Faster racing makes for worse entertainment. Edited June 7, 2014 by Leicester Lion
pointsmeanplayoffs
Could someone who was on the first bend explain to my why Kerr was EXC in heat 14? From my view on the back straight it looked like he had got in front of Lasse, moved him out to the fence, and Lasse hit his back wheel/dirt deflector and lost control and then went down. I thought the EXC was therefore very harsh on Kerr. Anyway, it mattered little, the meeting was won before the sun delay really, with Stars quicker out the traps most of the time and thats all is needed. Such a shame, Leicester has a terrific set up, decent support and a decent team BUT the track is awful. There is no passing unless a mistake is made. It's probably the worst track I have ever been to. Gate and go gate and go, fill your programme in as the riders pass you on the back straight on lap one. It's frustrating as thats the only thing wrong with a great set up. Please sort the track out!!
Star Fever
Got to agree with you about the website. I haven't got bad eyesight for reading but I suppose I can be classed as 'getting on a bit' and I find the text really hard to read. Why would anyone use what looks like grey on a black background? Looks awful and is that hard to read I don't bother. I always run my mouse over poor text on websites to highlight the text - it then shows up as white on blue background Well done the Stars, looks like we were most unfortunate (ht14) to not get all 4pts in the end, but heck 3pts will do very nicely Edited June 7, 2014 by Star Fever
lionking
Best action of the night was the near fight between the start Marshall & Iversen. How the hell was Iversen not punished for swinging his front wheel at the start Marshall because he wanted to start 5 yards behind everyone else ???
Vulcan62
Just imagine what crowds we would get if the track was even half decent! I only really went tonight to use my ticket from the Poole home match but seriously considering not bothering going again until something is done to the awful track. If only I lived a bit closer to Scunthorpe or Peterborough.....
Gemini
And a win without the reserves having a factor. Hopefully that will pipe a few down Great result but absolutely dreadful racing. Must apologise to the Leicester fans I criticised for their moaning. 100% I now agree and see where they're coming from. If that was my home track I'd just walk away from speedway. Boring boring speedway Well now you know why some fans have given up and don't bother going anymore. Even my husband has stopped and he has been supporting them for the last 3 years but has finally got fed up with the strung out racing. It's not worth commenting about the track on here as it's all been said before but maybe one day something will be done. We can only hope it won't be too late. ..........Star Fever........... I always run my mouse over poor text on websites to highlight the text - it then shows up as white on blue background Never thought of that. Thank you. I've just tried and Leicester's comes up blue on a white background. Trust them to be different. Edited June 7, 2014 by Gemini
mdmc82
I gave up after heat 7 as so boring to watch. Was always from the gate with no passing
wandersome
Is it time to start some sort campaign on race night to get the track altered, akin to the Manchester United green and gold shirts things. Maybe a T-shirt harking back to Lions Red and Yellow past along with some sort of message along the lines of 'Hemsley, our track doesn't have to be this useless, it's time you sorted it out you muppet'... well, you know, something along those lines..

robert72
Shame - apart from the track, it has a hell of a lot going for it. Your spot on it has so much going for it but that doesn't matter if the main product (track) is so wrong. Hemsley won't except it and that is the sad fact,he doesn't care about the fans not being happy.
stevehone
watched the meeting on Bet365, and how pleased was i that i didn't go!! good win again from the Stars, but it just makes me realise how lucky i am to have Kings Lynn and Peterborough tracks so close to home
Halifaxtiger
The thing is you walk in, see the stadium and what looks like an excellent track surface and most (including me) are pretty impressed. Then the racing starts.............. There was one pass (heat 1, Stead on Porsing) and heat 15 (Stead and Schlein) wasn't bad but that was it. The rest was rubbish and I won't be going back in a hurry. Its all been said here (and many, many times before) but something simply has to change.
Shirl
Looking at what the Stars have done this season I was excited by this meeting but by midweek when the teams were announced my excitement was dampened a little then with the rain and the forecast for more later I expected a rain off so made other plans. Well done to the Stars on your win but I think if Jason was around we would have won.I know Niels and Rory did a great job but apart from Mads they didn't have to work too hard. No disrespect to Peter Karlsson but 4 points is hardly what you expect from your home no 1. Our promotion needs to get the team sorted and replace Houggard with a quality rider to match Jason and Mads and by the posts on here this morning from the stars fans maybe the track too. Ive never really slagged off the track but I have to say the racing is hardly racing.Maybe I should move to Norfolk Becoming very disillusioned by it all
Mimmo
Well I said in a posting last night that I was gutted about not being able to come to the meeting, after everything had previously been in place for me to do so. Reading the comments on here this morning, it would seem that Britain's Got Talent was a far better option for me in the end (I just love Lettice Rowbottom....what a name!!), although the footie brought me back down to earth afterwards. I've never seen a senior meeting at Leicester, and your comments about the track must be right, because NOBODY ever praises it. What I can't work out however, is that I've attended the last two British Youth Championships at Beaumont Park, and the quality of racing and that includes passing, has been excellent. Are the kids less frightened of treading wear angels fear to tread than those with more experience? Whatever the problems are, Mr Hemsley has obviously got to take notice of what you people are all saying, otherwise we could be looking at another stadium closure, and that would be totally unacceptable. As a person who travels around the country quite a lot to watch meetings, in my opinion, Scunthorpe provides by far the most entertaining racing in speedway. KIng's Lynn and Peterborough aren't far behind, nor are Sheffield when you've got two good sides competing together, so your promoter should swallow pride and speak to the track curator of one of these venues, and attempt to put matters right before he loses you all. You all pay hard earned money to watch what you do, and it would appear from your comments that you are being basically ripped off. One positive you can take is the fact that you do have a decent match day programme!!!
mikebv
watching on the one camera that 365 has it certainly brings home the distance between the riders as you only get to see the leader on the back straight the second place rider is so far behind... the winner of most races seems consistently a quarter of a lap in front of the rider in last place.... yet there does often seem to be passing around the outside on the first two turns from the start... presume its when the bikes hit top speed it becomes very difficult to pass? shame, great facilities, crap race track.... castrolargh
Last night was my first visit to Beaumont Park , and first thoughts were what a lovely little stadium and the track looked great, but sorry guys just before the first bend, I said I wouldn't say it was gate and go, but, really.I don't know why that is, the track has banking and looks smooth and a good shape but no racing lines! There did seem to be a lot of grading, maybe a bit less would allow more racing lines to develop? I don't know .Great to see the stars win, the best bit of entertainment for me was when PUK got fed up with the start marshall being a t!t and swung his front wheel at him! What is Danish for "F@ckOff"? I couldn't hear PUK but I bet that's close to what was said.

I would hazard a guess that those in the youth championships may well be more prone to the odd mistake hence the increased passing opportunities perhaps.

One positive you can take is the fact that you do have a decent match day programme!!! Is it anything to do with the boys going slower and just taking their chance at a pass when it arises, through a mistake or wrong line etc? Whereas the senior riders need to build up to executing a pass and weigh up the pros and cons of doing so as they rarely make mistakes? Not sure if I'm making myself clear there lol? Re our prog, it's such a shame that the management aren't taking any notice of the fans who are all disappointed with the 'sheet, for another £1 there are some real good, proper progs out there, we're paying £2 for no content whatsoever, it's only worth £1 or less! Shame we have this when we're experiencing a special run and potential title winning year :-(
