Catch Me If You Can
Just had message from a friend in Berwick to say this is off tonight! Have they not looked at the forecast as it looks a fine day in Redcar all Thursday!! Anyone in Redcar able to update?
Boobs
Very unfortunate. But Redcar promotion know their track best, maybe drainage is poor. Bandits have now had TEN meetings (two home and eight away) postponed this year already. Impressive PR by Berwick, getting e-newsletter out to supporters, telling them of cancellation, before eleven o'clock. As of now (11.30) BSPA site still says meeting is on! Tompy
I'm about 4 miles from the track and it hasn't rained all day, although it did rain quite a lot yesterday. Sun is just coming out now with a decent forecast for the rest of the day. It does seem a bit premature?

Catch Me If You Can
Running scared? According to Speedway Star, changing their team !!!
mikebaker
Had lots of rain Tuesday and Wednesday, currently dry. Brian Havelock was speaking on BBC Tees last night and hoping the meeting would be off. Both Konopka and Crang at reserve, Graversen in the main body now. Stated that a replacement was proving difficult to source. We have up to 6.15. Read into that, but an away win looked highly probable. Boobs
Speedway has gone mad, if a club (with no home meeting next week either, the loss of which affects their cashflow) would put off a fairly-local derby just because they thought they might not win. Still no news of call-off on BSPA website.
racers and royals
Speedway has gone mad, if a club (with no home meeting next week either, the loss of which affects their cashflow) would put off a fairly-local derby just because they thought they might not win. Still no news of call-off on BSPA website. The BSPA will say it`s off when they are told by the home promoter or his representative that`s it`s off-which should be one of the first things the promoter does when calling it off !!!. Ned Kelly 41
Well it smacks of unprofessionalism on one front (and good organisation on the other) if Berwick can set up and send out an e-mail to 500 people by half-past ten in the morning to warn them of the meeting being off, and the people who put it off haven't told the BSPA by noon. smod
Is this match really off? Still shown on BSPA website, and BBC weather I've just watched seems set fair.
jenga
redcar doing a berwick. making use of the 6 points plus on the teams average to strengthen up against BERWICK. wonder who thought of that idea.. er, peter waite. karma..
marron
Not too disappointed that this is off. Weak team and that track must still be soaked through after 36-48 hours of constant rain that only stopped in the early hours of this morning. Would have been a struggle to get it fit enough to produce good racing.
jenga
i suppose it gives the bears a few extra days to find an other and redeclare.

Could do with Peter Waite back in speedway, and a few more like him, certainly kept everyone on their toes
Robinh88
Apparently its been non stop rain on teeside, totally understandable I think we would have been victorious tonight however Redcar have an opportunity to strengthen up which I'm happy about because I want a stronger PL and a stronger Redcar

marron
Yeah, someone at Redcar or the BSPA were slow in that regard as it was on Twitter before
Fromafar
usual reason ,self interest , you would think a club with its own stadium could sort out a track for tonight . IF the forecast is favourable, plus it is a local derby so could have later call off if required.the promotions will soon be wondering when fans don't Turn up in late Sept for meaningless meetings. These days it needs a WEEK of dry weather or the fixtures are in doubt, sad days for the sport. Drac
Just to clarify, we had heavy rain last night til 4am (I know as I was on nights and work next to the track) - the roads where flooded at 6am when I left work. So there's no underhand dealings the track was likely more underwater than waterlogged. An early call off was the correct decision.
