Poole Quay 7
Congratulations Kings Lynn on yet another fine away win. Despite now supporting Lakeside, it is Hackney Speedway that still lives within my heart. To this end, I know just how badly it hurts; being years in the top tier and winning zilch. It's as if you are there simply making up the numbers; whilst the big boys use you simply as a commodity. Hopes and dreams at the start of each season quickly begin to evaporate as reality kicks in. But this year, you must be feeling something quite different. Your team, even when depleted, is bringing home the points because you have a team of riders with passion and belief. A team of guys that are so clearly proud of the club that they represent. It is still relatively early days, but if the trophy heads to Norfolk at the end of this season, along with many other true Speedway Supporters (particularly those of us who remember your much leaner times) I will be absolutely delighted for you. And in particular, genuinely happy for those of your supporters who have endured so many seasons of abject disappointment. Keep up this form Kings Lynn and you will be worthy Champions. And I for one will raise a glass in your honour. I can remember years without winning anything at Poole so if we can't win the title this season, then I would be more than happy to see Kings Lynn Stars go on to win it.
pointsmeanplayoffs
An on-form Iversen would have beat more than 2 opponents before heat 15 so wouldn't have even been needed in heat 15 Ha ha ha ha we could fill pages going round and round in circles on this one! SteveLyric2
Congrats to Kings Lynn on a deserved win. As one of the sponsor's group last night (and therefore having a later night and morning than usual! ) I have to say that except for the result, many of the guests thoroughly enjoyed the meeting. There was some decent racing on an inconsistent track surface!! One of Poole's issues with the track - any bumps and ruts aside - is that it has been different every week!! The shale being used is quite 'thin' in comparison to some other tracks and consequently acts differently - in particular going to the outside line very early on in a meeting - hence some riders chasing that dirt line too early in a race rather than waiting, but that's racers for you!! We have a blank fortnight after Wolves next Wednesday so hopefully something can be done. The other thing is with the rider pairings. Middlo changed the 2nd strings around last night as he has done for one of the away meetings, but I think he also needs to look at the top 3 and consider a changearound. But that's taking nothing away from KL - they are deservedly and understandably top of the EL ------------- but as Brummies know, that can mean nothing come trophy winning time! tellboy
Great result didn't think we would get the win down there to be honest.Result is even better seeing as Bjerre and Iversen only scored 11 between them, you would have thought Iversen would have got them on his own. Be great if we could win the league and with the team that we started the season aswell.
Bagpuss
I know if I was a KL fan I'd be keeping a lid on any cocksure smugness as it will all be different for the pokc, won't it? Not sure about your choice of words necessarily but agree with the sentiment. We are all pleased with how the season is going and are thoroughly enjoying it, BUT the Play Offs can be a lottery and it only takes one injury or key rider to completely lose form and a whole season of hard work can go down the gurgler. Hopefully this season will mirror 2006 & 2009 but until then all rooftop singing should be put on hold. whippy
still bugs me that the team that is top of the league on points can lose title on stupid play offs.
foreverblue
still bugs me that the team that is top of the league on points can lose title on stupid play offs. The play offs are fantastic, full on racing that you don't always get in the league. We have benefited from them and suffered by them but they are always terrific to watch.
robinsgirl
I know Ward still performed ok but there is times in previous seasons he has scored more than 12 at most meetings, particularly at home. His scores in all leagues has been less over recent matches and, yes, I understand he is coping with an injury. I don't think his injury is the biggest factor of his slump in form. Has the loss of sponsor Hagon had an impact on his team? Maybe he's been lucky in recent years that his 'over riding' style hasn't caused more injuries to him and a hit to his confidence earlier than this. I feel this is a critical couple of years for him if he is to continue to the level that most have predicted he will achieve. As to the match, the Star's have the balance of team that will hurt most other teams at present and it adds interest to watch them going forward. The difference in points at reserve prove invaluable to the Stars.
waiheke1
It sure is a better forum for the blinkered ones absence. You can actually talk about the meeting and what went on without being told your anti Poole or jealous. It was obvious to all that the track was awful last night and it caused Poole to lose the meeting with Milik falling and Darcy bucking around. Just hope Starman isn't stepping into shovs shoes as he seemed to think track was ok. Anyway Poole need a change somewhere team is a bit stale. Josh finding the step up from reserve a bit tough. I would persevere with Milik. The only thing Poole can't change is the draft rider situation. Newman is ok but should be the top rider but isn't. Poole will make the play offs but its obvious this team isn't good enough. Iversen got 7 and Bjerre 4 yet they still win. Darcy and Shamek are carrying the team.Yes despite his absence, you still manage to mention steve every second post? Obsessed much?As for poole, they are still one of the two teams that look capable of winning the pkayoffs. Much as u diss magic, he has the highest aversge this season of any 3rd heatleader. Josh g is averaging close to 7, a couple more than last year, which is doing his job - though obviously he and milik both underperformed in this match. Poole will no doubt strengthen the 2nd strings at some point, simply because this format allows it. Leaving really only a weakness at 7.
Gavan
Oh gavan, you are such a tart! You appear to have conveniently forgotten that I was in fact, the first Poole fan on here to congratulate Coventry winning so well and which you acknowledged ( after making yourself look foolish, ranting on with the same bile) Lets be honest gavan, you are completely obsessed with Poole speedway and Steve Shovlar in particular and if you think you can now move on to me to single and call out then think again because I will reply and and make you look a fool..... Mind you that's not difficult as you do most of that for yourself anyway. Well done to the Stars on a spirited display and 3 points fully deserved. Please continue to write us off and we will see how things are at the end of the season!? no I'm not 'moving' on to anyone. Shovlar as discussed by the large percentage on here is a bit of a clown or wind up merchant that basically didn't help any of you genuine Poole fans out there. I don't like Matt Ford it's that simple. Think I'm obsessed with Poole means you don't obviously read any other part of this forum. I comment on majority of threads on here and have banter with most fans. Unfortunatly some Poole fans are not able to engage in debate or have a discussion. Maybe I shouldn't have bit to much at Shovlars stupidity but hey ho it'd nice on here now! Yes despite his absence, you still manage to mention steve every second post? Obsessed much? Was World under 21 champ and World Cup winner and was talked about as a gp rider but is nowhere near a wild card now. Pooles top 3 should almost win them meetings on their own
Mjolnir
Good to see Lewis Bridger's performance on an 'away' track, only dropped two points to opposition and finished in front of all four heat 15 contestants during the meeting. Time for certain Poole posters to recognize his contribution and finally get off his back after all these years. Well said. His form has definitely improved - hopefully he can keep it up! As we all know, anything can happen in the playoffs but Kings Lynn certainly are looking very good right now.
stevebrum
Surely his point is that if josh g hsd performed as expected, poole would have won. I saw that point. IF Iversen had scored as his average suggests then that would have nullified what Josh would have scored also. no I'm not 'moving' on to anyone. lots of people commenting its good on here without him but you single me out! No surprise the usual abuser is looking for someone to spew bile at, i have had it on ignore for a while because of it.

Nothing against King's Lynn, but far from 'so many seasons of abject disappointment', KL fans only have to cast their minds back to 2006-2009 when their club was dominant in the PL. 2 League titles, 3 cup wins, tonking home wins virtually every week - I'm sure the fans of many clubs wish we could look back on a time of such abject disappointment.
Bagpuss
I assumed VoR was referring to the eighties & nineties in the top division when we were more often than not toilet and scratching around at the bottom of the league. Gavan
I don't have a problem with Poole Quay. People are already telling the difference on here as the Poole fans are congratulating Lynn and not looking for excuses which is how it should be
Beowulf
Well done to KL, enjoy your win, its 1 meeting but made the more enjoyable bcuz its at Poole. The Fordmeister wont like this one little bit, and remember nowts won in May, the problem Poole really have no control over is the draft system, and who they can bring in as there second draft rider, there options are very, very limited and unless someone in the NL who is without a team, starts banging in the points, i cant see how Poole can improve things.. Ben Wilson can he be a draft rider?. Well the draft system seems to have done the job of the points limit in equalising teams! Well I don't come on here much these days, cant be bothered with the likes of people like the one in exile Excellent result for Kings Lynn, disappointing for Poole, i'm sure Matt Ford will react to this, As several people have mentioned long way to go yet, but for now looks like our best chance of winning league since 2000. Remember Kings Lynn have never won the English 1st division, its been 50 years in the making, surely no one would begrudge a little success now and then would they ? I certainly wouldn't. marko
Amazing isnt it, Cookie protests that the tactical ride is unfair but has no problem with a team winning the league possibly finishing the regular season as low as 4th and maybe up to 10-15 points off what the team who came top did, how can one be unfair and the other not?
