Kings Lynn 'stars' Vs Coventry 'bees' Thurs 29/05/14

Garrity had an issue with Kerr over his horrendous move from the start in the initial re-run of Heat 9. I was on the first bend looking directly down the home straight and Kerr came straight across the front of him when the tapes went up leaving him nowhere to go but down in an untidy heap.

Seeing it from the Royal Box, Kerr had gated first and was yards clear of Garrity well before he got anywhere near the first corner. Garrity's problem was his control of the bike, it appeared to pick up and reared when approaching the first bend. Fortunately the bike went into the catch fencing and no one was hurt. Could have been nasty. But to put the blame on Kerr is ridiculous. What's he suppose to do........ :nono: After you sir???

I wouldn't say he was well clear of him. Clearly looked to be contact as Kerr chopped across the front of him.

Garrity did have a cat in hells chance of winning the race anyway so it was barely relevant.

Don't think people should take offence to him being a little bit angry though. He was a bit knocked about and had seen his number 1 bike leave the track and get badly damaged. He was hardly going to be full of the joys of spring when he returned to the pits.

So Garrity's a bit of a hot head, who cares. God forbid we see a bit of argy bargy like we did in the good old days!

Remember them? You know, when more than a couple of dozen of us used to turn up for meetings!

At least it shows he's got passion! Like you said, storm in a tea cup, happens all the time...

From where you were standing, I can understand why you think that way. Kerr was a bikes length in front, before Garrity's bike surged and then clipped Kerr's back wheel. Like you say, he was angry and hurt. But its wrong to blame others for your own failings ...

Weird day, from start to finish, and wish I hadn't made the effort to go. Left at 3..huge A14 jams, so diverted via Corby to the A47 then had another long hold up near P'boro. Finally arrived just before 7.

The event was a little surreal, and the delay only added to that. Most of the Coventry team seemed at sea, apart from from Harris (and to a lesser extent Andersen). In many races Bees riders were left trailing, or were struggling with the track and got passed as if they were going backwards. Didn't think much to the presenter or the food, though I do like the view from the home straight high grandstand, and it was good to see a big crowd in the stadium (seemed to me a bigger crowd than most Brandon home league matches). Good to see Porsing, Lambert and Kerr looking very sharp. The Stars are already having a vintage year..fair play to them!

Otherwise, best forgotten. Roll on this evening.

From what ive read on the Incedent your the only one with that view, i was keeping updated on twitter and people watching the live stream suggested Kerr was at fault.

From what I saw watching it live from the royal box I was surprised Garrity lost control, as Kerr looked like he had gone clear.

It was Kerr's fault. His gating in the re-run was sloppy. He was only 1 bike length clear instead of his usual 3 bike lengths before hitting the first turn

In my opinion (I had a great view btw) it was just two young lads, going for it, trying to win.

I look forward to future Kerr and Garrity duels over the coming seasons, hopefully both can continue their development and earn places in the main body of the team.

As much as I appreciate the live streaming. you only get one fixed view on a small screen, with no real respective in regards to distances. Knowing where the camera is, they wouldn't get as good as view as you did., so I wouldn't be taken too much notice from them. In regards to Garrity against Kerr. the only place they were close was on the start line.....

......Star Fever.......Don't think Darren should've been excluded tbh - it was Garrity pulling a locker right in front of him just as he was looking to go inside that caused Darren to also lock, then unfortunately Serjeant went into him. It was a racing accident really but I know the ref has to exclude someone. Hopefully they just went to hospital to be on the safe side and nothing too bad.

I was only watching on the small screen of Bet365 but even I could see it was Garrity who initially caused the 'concertina' effect so if anyone should have been excluded it ought to have been him. But saying that does the referee have to exclude someone like you have said? I thought I read somewhere this is actually not a rule.

Well maybe its a 'speedway myth' but i'm not too familiar with the rule book I admit. However I don't think I've ever seen an accident where no-one is excluded unless its on the first/second bend.

Unfortunately you rarely see the main culprit of such incidents excluded either :/

Punches were being thrown at the pit gate by Garrity's crew as they couldn't get onto the track quick enough.

I heard Garrity say that he was going to 'do' Kerr in the re-run (with a few expletives thrown in) but he didn't actually make a concerted effort to do anything silly in any of the other races where they met.

He was fired up and had a sore head and arm after the crash. Storm in a tea cup.

what I heard was Kerr will be the next one that needs a ambulance - as I said Hansen had a word and others . Totally unacceptable I think .

Because I'd like to know who's in the race

Yes the well being of the riders has priority, this doesn't mean you have to ignore the punters for over an hour, only in the last 10 minutes or so was anything done to break the boredom. If it's tractors and diesel fumes that do it for you, then... I suppose, why not?

interesting that during this extended break at Coventry while the fence is repaired, i've not heard any rider interviews etc that you so greatly cherish .. not even any tractors to watch ....

Thats when a true Pro like Bennett really earned his corn. He would be onto it straight away. Rider interviews, managers Interviews, any stray rider there who turned up to watch. I guess this new guy will learn, at some point. No one around me was moaning about the delay, people were just generally chatting and socialising. All part of Speedway for many.

The new guy is now in his second season and still shows zero knowledge of the sport. His interview questions were awful. The only thing that has improved is he is slightly less shouty. If Edwin wasn't in the box we'd have no decent information flowing. I know we were spoilt with MB, but surely Buster can find someone better than this

Glad to hear James and Darren have nothing broken, was an awful crash.

Delighted Darren Mallett is not as badly injured as first feared, I had a horrible feeling watching the medics treat him last night. Not sure that the stream should have kept their cameras focused on that really. Hopefully Seargeant will be OK, he looked terribly wobbly and out of it as he walked to the golf buggy. Best wishes to them both.

As for the delays - necessary of course and I hope no one would expect riders health to be put at risk for the sake of "getting on with it". What did come over on the stream last night was the total ineptness of the centre green announcer. When a crash like that occurs the last thing anyone wants to hear is "rider safety comes first" repeated ad nauseum. We all KNOW that. His job should be to occupy the crowd and (impossible I know) try to take their minds off the crash, I was bored stupid and I was watching Springwatch, Twitter, Updates and BSF as well as phoning my daughter. I can only imagine what it was like on the terraces.

Surely it's not beyond the bounds of possibility to have a plan in place for just such an eventuality. Mike Bennett always managed to cover such delays well. Someone put on here very early on about having rider interviews but it took over 30 minutes for that to be done - not good enough IMO.

As for the tractors, at least it means the riders in the following heats have a smooth and consistent track to ride on.

I hope I never hear anyone complain about the catch fencing again. That's twice in exactly the same place I've seen bikes go over the safety fence and twice the catch fencing has prevented a very nasty incident.

we on the first bend terraces weren't bored. just hoping lads were ok. cannot hear mike man anyway. too much noise from tractors, bikes and music.

Because I'd like to know who's in the race

what else do you want to happen ? we were not bored. cannot hear what is being said by mike man anyway and sometimes it is a load of drivel. would rather chat amongst ourselves and hope for good news about riders. What kind of entertainment would you like ???

Really? That's not actually true is it? I'm in Somerset, going of the 365 stream. There were plenty of interviews, we strained to hear them as the link isn't that good. but there were interviews !!
