John Leslie
So presumably the ref has to make an official report, and tgat report would need to indicate that bv requested the meeting be abandoned. If bv deny msking such a request they csn appeal the result? Totally ludicrous. The rules say that only BV could seek abandonment of the meeting, and clearly they didn't. Seems that the meeting steward acted against the rules.
Grachan
So presumably the ref has to make an official report, and tgat report would need to indicate that bv requested the meeting be abandoned. If bv deny msking such a request they csn appeal the result? It was made pretty clear that they all agreed to do 2 more races after heat 10 and then make another decision. They asked the riders opinions, that's all. The riders didn't make the decisions. It was perhaps surprising, but the conspiracy theories we're getting here are just stupid.
John Leslie
That's what was said - it certainly wasn't Swindon or BV who called it off so you are just splitting hairs! She wasn't even involved in the discussion....A discussion which shouldn't have even been taking place according to the rules.

NeilWatson
Actually for sky meetings is it the clerk of course or someone who makes the call? Vague memories from the bv poole debacle - the latter one - ftom last year? Star Lady
15.11 After Heat 10 in an official Team fixture, only the Team that is losing may request a track inspection, or seek abandonment of the Meeting. Ah but that's the EL rule book. Tonight they used the Sky rule book . Pearson had been talking up a postponement from the start of heat1. More to the point did anyone spot a pair of purple chinos, with or without brown shoes? Edited May 26, 2014 by Star Lady
Grachan
Oh Gawd. You're all mental. They said on tv that they agreed to do 2 more races after heat 10 and take another look. Edited May 26, 2014 by grachan
thecoombdog
Been some great sky speedway meetings so far this season. this is by far the worstReally? There was at least 4 good races in tough conditions. Greaves was class in heat 2. Dak and Worrall had a good race. Stevie Worrall and Wright. Morris and Palm Toft. No way was this meeting worse than Swindon KL. Stupid decision to call it off. Saw 18 heats of pure sh1te at the ELRC last year. The track was nowhere near as bad. Times were slower but Morris and MPT were throwing the bikes at each other in the previous race and the rain wasnt any heavier. No consistency at all. WestGorton1884
Troy Batchelor / Alun Rossiter ... what a pair ! Surely the onus is on the home team to try and finish the meeting ? , conditions weren't that bad anyway , its nights like this , that remind me just why i stopped going to speedway as often as i used to. shameful

mike1944
The track did not look especially dangerous especially after watching heat 12. I would have thought 3 more heats were easily possible without compromising riders safety. Seen racing continue in far worse conditions. Adder
With the conditions getting gradually worse surely it is better to call it whilst all the riders are still in one piece? I get the impression that some posters on here would rather let meetings carry on until there is a serious accident before calling a meeting off.
waiheke1
Nobody acted against the rules. Behave will ya!!Tbf, if there was a track inspection after heat 12 done other than at the request of bv then rules were broken. Its not sour grapes as there is no guarantee aces would have picked up a point. But rules should be followed.
salty
We went through all this last year after the Belle Vue/Poole disgrace. When there is a Meeting Steward appointed (as there is for Sky meetings) they have sole responsibility regarding abandonments. They can take into account other opinions but as rule 14.6 says http://www.scbgb.co.uk/pdf/regulations/2014%20SPEEDWAY%20REGULATIONS.pdf any postponement is at their "sole discretion". So down to Ronnie Allen tonight. Nothing to do with a request from the losing team or the ref. Edited May 26, 2014 by salty

Have you got me on ignore or something? I already pointed out that they said on tv that they had agreed to do 2 more heats after heat 10 and then have another look. Maybe everyone has me on ignore. Maybe I live in a parallel universe. Hello? Hello? Can anyone see my posts? Am I alone in the world?
