StevePark
Chris Mills has been told by the Comets Management tonight, that his services are no longer required. A replacement signing is "to be announced in the next couple of days." http://www.workingtoncomets.co/news/article.asp?id=100295 Edited May 24, 2014 by Steve Park

Fozzie4388
Can only be a 3.00pointer or a 3.05 (Mills average) as Workington's team average is 42.90.
screm
Can only be a 3.00pointer or a 3.05 (Mills average) as Workington's team average is 42.90. Surely Workington have to drop another rider, 42-90 minus 3-05 is 39-05, leaving only 2-65 to put them back up to the 42-50 limit.

No. Straight replacement, or lesser average, when over the points limit.

You build to the limit you currently have (42.90 in Workington's case), so if it is a straight replacement it is up to 3.05, Chris's current average. 2ndbendbeerhut
Shame for him. Seemed to get on well with his team mates. Is he still allowed to guest for Newcastle tomorrow?

Lord Lucan
Had that air of inevitability this although despite earlier reference in other posts, I had no idea this was going to happen? With the advent of new machinery and optimism at the start of the season I really hoped Chris would kick on and do what he knows he can do and early signs were good but, for some reason, his form has tailed off of late and in a side where inconsistency is rife at the moment, there is no hiding place? Hope he get's fixed up somewhere, possibly even an NL team to get his confidence back would be better than nothing, Best Wishes to him, he is better than he's shown lately and I'm sure that form will come back under more agreeable circumstances!! mdmc82
James Sarjeant or Simon Lambert Be no point it being Sarjeant, although he is riding well he would always be missing when Coventry are riding same time (which seems to be alot when you look at how often Howarth misses bees fixtures)

oldswindonsupporter
No surprise even if he is a nice bloke and all that, wasn't aware of how old Chris is but if 30 then I would have preferred to have gone with some-one with more potential and improvement, I.e. throw a youngster in. That said, the reserve berths do not seem to be earning enough points, with both Ashley Morris and Chris Mills at 6 and 7 Chris never strong enough to cover Ashley and vice versa imo nor one would one those a rookie be strong enough unless you had a Steve Worrall / Lewis Kerr. Seems sticking with the pair for so long has possibly cost the Comets points. Just my view!

Agree entirely OSS, Morris's lack of points scoring this year cruelly exposed Mills at the bottom end leaving us very weak at crucial times, throw in the technical problems/high av's from the middle order and we were never in a position to move riders around? Mills has to take the lion's share though, it's his responsibility to ride quicker!! Now that it has been publicly announced that they have let him go, surely it has to be re-declared for Thursday? But re-declare with whom, haven't heard any names yet? Going to have to be pretty careful with this as I've read on here the talk of dropping another rider to get "two" better one's in, probably just talk but if that is on the cards then Comets are going to have to move PDQ to get something sorted for Thursday?
