Gemini
I can never understand why the riders bother to practice anyway. How often is it said the track on G.P. day is completely different to how it was for the practice? At a guess almost 100%.
BANANAMAN
I'm told the promotion have taken this date as a sign of the confidence they have in the Bee's fans. They feel that the Bee's fans will roar the side on and more than make up the absences of the regular riders come Friday night. You are correct ... There's a bloke on the third bend whose a cert to score at least 10 & i'm told the noisy pair in front the main stand by the tapes have been waiting for their Bee's debuts for 40 years !.......... Cometh the hour , Cometh the Fan !! .............. You can be a berk sometimes !
SCB
Far as I'm aware GP riders have to be at the practice on Friday. Practice hasn't been compulsory for about 10 years now. As for practice, Harris has been to Prague enough now to know it's gate and ride about 5 foot from the kerb. Nobody will be passing anyone. Ah ok, I did think it changed back that they had to be there to declare there place but im obviously wrong on that. Maybe Harris will ride then? EDIT, Bomber rides on Friday. SCB
EDIT, Bomber rides on Friday. Good man! I hope he gets some credit for this. Too many riders seem to be happy to use any excuse to pull out of a meeting. Nice to see one who is committed to GB speedway/his club. mdmc82
Wednesday May 28, 2014 COVENTRY skipper Chris Harris will miss practice for this weekends Czech Republic Grand Prix to ride for the Buildbase Bees on Friday. Harris has put the club above his preparations for the meeting in Prague and will line up against Birmingham at Brandon in a fixture which was hastily re-arranged due to the dreadful Bank Holiday weather. With Harris delaying his departure for the GP, and Hans Andersen and Ryan Fisher both re-arranging flights to be at Coventry on Friday, it means the Bees will only have one of their regular team missing against the Brummies. Kenneth Hansen has a clashing Danish League fixture, and news of his replacement will be available when confirmed. Birmingham have booked in-form Josh Grajczonek to guest for Ben Barker and will also include British Under-21 Champion Josh Bates at reserve. And with the Brummies home match against Belle Vue on Wednesday being rained-off, Fridays meeting at Brandon should also see the Elite League debut of their exciting new Polish signing Bartosz Zmarzlik who finished third on his first appearance in a Grand Prix as Wild Card in Gorzow two years ago. JT
Good for Harris. A few of us have suggested putting his league racing before the GP distractions would be a positive move and it finally seems to have got through. At GP level he is woefully out of his depth nowadays, but as a league rider he still has a lot to offer. Focusing on Coventry should boost his Elite League scores. JT.
TheSmiler
Much respect for Harris for putting his club before his own commitments. Not many riders do that. Most are all for themselves. Well done to Chris.
Woz01
Maybe just maybe he will stop getting the undeserved flak. Just need to know if we will get a facility for Hansen or not even though I think we will win anyway. We should clean up at reserve.

It would be nice if he turned up in Prague and had a better meeting too. Might suggest taking a more laise faire attitude to the GPs is the way forward for him. Sadly I doubt it'll happen, Prague has never really been good for him and theres rarely much passing.

abbo
As per my post of yesterday and headlines in Coventry Telegraph that Chris Harris would be unable to ride. I now see on the website that Chris WILL ride on Friday and travel to Prague on Saturday. Let me say "Well done Chris nice to see a rider wishing to support his local team" great news. I still have strong words for the administrators of British Speedway, this is a spectator sport and as supporters we want to see the best. At Coventry we pay elite league entrance fees to watch our speedway not national league riders in place of a heat leader. Ifthere is a clash of fixtures with a team abroad a suitable replacement of the standard of the rider being replaced should be allowed not a third division rider. This is not intended as a criticism of national league riders I a great fan of the national league and attend all the Storm meetings. When we had Emil on our books as number 1 he couldn't ride due to a Russian fixture and we had Todd Kurtz as replacement number 1 the number of spectators dropped considerably. This is why the spectator numbers are falling. Come on we live in a hemisphere of the world where Speedway is ridden in a number of countries, we should be able to have a suitable replacement. I am not having a go at Hansen ahead go Friday's fixture but in such circumstances a suitable replacement should be available within the regs.

In many ways, there has to be scenarios whereby a facility isn't allowed, since if you were always allowed a guest, riders would be missing meetings all over the place willy nilly, simply because it's easy to replace them over here. We'd lose out in the event of any clash of fixtures as the other Leagues don't entertain the farcical guest rule, and they'd tell us where to go in event of a clash, as would the rider. He has changed his travel plans to ride for us Friday night that wouldve probably come at some personal expense. Most if not all the other gp riders wouldn't have been bothered whether there club had a meeting Friday night. Fair play on him putting the Bees first before any personal goal.
Brummie Kev
Would have preferred us to go there with a full side, I don't think having Josh G in for Barker weakens us much but not having Paul Starke certainly does. One of the in form reserves in the league. Edited May 28, 2014 by Brummie Kev
