Kings Lynn Stars V Poole Pirates Thursday 22nd May

Recommended Posts

I must say the weather doesn't sound at all promising, and it wouldn't surprise me if it does get rained-off. If the worst does happen, I hope it's early enough to stop any Poole supporters making the very long journey.

If the meeting does go ahead, I would expect a KIng's Lynn win, but at the same time wouldn't read to much into the Pirates home defeat last night. Poole have got riders who ride the Norfolk Arena track very well, and I'd like to think that the likes of Janowski, Milik and Pawlicki will be equal to the likes of Schlein, Porsing and Lambert.

Due to his current concerns over injuries, I wouldn't think Ward will be at the same races as Iversen, but as Woffinden also has injury issues, they could run out on an even footing there. Lewis Kerr will almost certainly rule the roost over the opposition reserves, but with Mallett having spent a long time on the side-lines with injuries in recent years, and this only being his second Elite League meeting in a very long time, I doubt he'll be quite so dominant, but should be good enough to see off Ben Hopwood.

Somebody posted that if we don't beat Poole by 60+ then we don't deserve to be top of the table. I can't agree with that line of thought, as it's a different track and a different night. I think it could be much closer than some might think, but that of course is just my opinion.

Now all we've got to do is wait and see if these angry looking skies begin to look a bit friendlier.

I agree with all of that, it won't be 60-30 and that prediction is by someone who would say that even if we were riding against a NL team, i predict 50-40 but hope it will be closer and maybe we can nick a poiint.

Looking at the Weather forecast it says the rain should hit Lynn around 1 O'Clock and then again at 7 O'clock. I guess it will depend on how much we get. Will Buster still open the gates at the normal time or wait and see ?

Unless the forecast I heard this morning has changed already then it's heavy showers all day, so put luck really. Hopefully they avoid the NA completely, or they hit early so we get an early decision to save us all a wasted trip.

2 miles from track and no rain since 0700 (asleep before then. Fair breeze, odd sunny spell but not as warm as last few days (not cold tho).

Will try to update later cos I think speedball is otherwise occupied today and not sure if he has access to t'interweb.

More to the point has it been confirmed if Darcy is riding?

Thunder and rain in Hunstanton too. I've just travelled through from King's Lynn Hospital, and some patches of the 13-mile journey are bone dry, whilst other patches it's poring down. As I write this the rain has now stopped, but the sky doesn't look very well at all.

Difficult decision for Buster as he's in a no win situation really. If the conditions at the Norfolk Arena are the same as they are in the Heacham, Hunstanton, Snettisham areas, then I would imagine it would be worth him opening the gates.......................then praying. I don't envy him.

Anyway, lets be positive and assume that we still see some action tonight, and if we do, that the referee is asked to keep his finger firmly on the 2-minute buzzer. The meeting needs to be pushed through in the minimum time possible tonight. Sheffield and Swindon have already lost their meetings tonight, so we don't want to make it hat trick.

Well we had a big thunderstorm here in Wisbech at 3pm it only lasted 5 mins but we had thunder, lightning, hail and very heavy rain which flooded the place. But its drying up now. This webcam gives you a good idea as to what the weather is like, and it is only a stones throw away from the NA as the crow flies. http://www.kingslynnonline.com/weather-travel/southgates-webcam

Can see this being a really close contest. Heat Leaders will cancel each other out. A lot depends on Porsing and Lambert performing well. Kerr will be the match winner.

Lynn 47-43 Poole

However, it's looking likely that the rain will spoil the show!
