Togliati Sgp Talks

Recommended Posts

Re the track size and shape they should have been asking those questions before the event and not after.

Who from any of these organisations is responsible for tracks they take on, or is it just who will pay the most money to hold it.

Thats what I meant when the track was at the planning stage Surely someone must have thought that looks a bit narrow we need to alter it. Or perhaps they're trying to beat the amount of posts about Leicesters track on this forum.

CHATTING to some Polish mechanics over the weekend. They told me that a decent monthly wage in Poland for an average worker (shop assistant, something like that) would be around 600/900 zlotys. That's less than £300.

I just can't believe what I'm reading. "A DECENT wage in Poland would be 600/900 zlotys." Mr. Rising you've chosen wrong people to talk to. People who know a little bit more than Polish speedway mechanic would tell you that THE MINIMUM wage in Poland stands at 1'600 PLN. It's not much, I know, but nowhere near 600/900 zl.

I read elsewhere that there is a certain "propaganda" beamed from Polish sources allegedly close to OneSport. What would you call your posts?

ANOTHER consideration was getting a multi-million pound TV truck to and from Togliatti without it being hijacked and stripped bare!

Was the Eurosport TV truck in Togliati hijacked and stripped bare? or is it another piece of propaganda?

Some stories floating around that Gollob's signing-on fee for Torun was in range of the one million euro mark! NO wonder he is still riding...

Mr. Rising, I am not interested in "floating stories". From the person of your status I would expect confirmed facts.

Minimum wage according to the law and what is really paid are two different things. Finland is widely considered as non corrupted and developed country, but every year at least one case is discovered when someone has been a slave for another with ridicolous wages.

Top polish mechanics will laugh at 1200 euros a month. Yet other are able to take hundreds from even that and send home every month. I found strange when I was told last year that the real minimum wage actually varies according to counties in Poland.

Isn't part of the TV issue, not just about whether the meeting is 'televised' but whether it is shown in the country concerned and what the financial 'rewards' implications and viewing figures are likely to be??!

WHAT propaganda? I was just relaying the gist of a conversation with some Polish mechanics over the weekend which went a long way to explaining why there are so many of them in the SGP pit lane.

With regard to the TV truck... Tomasz Gasinski (Gollob's manager) told me that the convey of vehicles that travelled from Poland to Togliatti last year had an armed escort all the way. Let's not forget that three Presidents of the local club have been assassinated. No propaganda, just pointing out what a target a multi-million dollar TV truck would be.

Have no idea what facilities Eurosport used and no doubt BSI will enquire if and when they decide that a SGP in Togliatti is both viable and practical.

Anything can be achieved in Russia if the Russians want it to happen. Just need the right contacts.
