home straight
My argument is if he rides in the gp and doesnt fulfill team commitments in whatever country then he is after personal rather then team gain. Also if he rides eleswhere and not for Poole then surely the pirates are bottom of his priorities or is he simply riding where the best wage packet will be? And to be fair cant blame him for that. I just know if my best rider was riding everywhere apart from my team id fell pretty cheated to be honest If he can only do 2 meetings a week (say) then surely he's got to do the two that are easiest on his leg (bigger less technical tracks) and the ones that are going to pay most. It's a no brainer. As I was trying to explain to everyone's favourite midlander, it might be disappointing, but fully understandable, and I would hold no personal grievance with Darcy Ward if that's what he chooses to do. The suggestion that if he rides elsewhere then he MUST ride here holds no water.
stevebrum
Absolutely, I'm not suggesting Poole should be granted facilities to cover for him, but anyone who thinks that if he rides elsewhere then he's automatically fit to ride here is wrong..... That's not exactly what I said though was it? We can all make rubbish up mate. I said "I'd be disappointed if he chooses to ride elsewhere but not here" which I would be, he's arguably the most exciting rider in the world right now, obviously I'd be disappointed if he can't/chooses not to ride here. Note: I didn't say "I'd be disappointed in him" or "I think he's letting Poole down" or "I'd think less of him". The fact MAY be that his injury dictates he has to cut down on his schedule, which would mean fulfilling some, but not all of his commitments. If he chooses Poland/Sweden/GPs then so be it, it would be disappointing, but understandable. I then went on to say that "anyone who states that if he's fit enough to ride elsewhere then he's fit enough to ride here, is daft" because that's a daft statement to make. It categorically is NOT the same as saying "anyone who doesn't want Darcy Ward to miss meetings here is daft" I hope this clears things up Steve, but if past form is anything to go by, there'll be another nonsensical post from you shortly Long winded as expected. Either way Darcy cant pick and choose his meetings - injured or not. Maybe its best re-declare if in doubt? The suggestion that if he rides elsewhere then he MUST ride here holds no water. In your opinion. Riders cant pick and choose when and where to ride. Otherwise why bother with any contracts?

In your opinion. Riders cant pick and choose when and where to ride. Otherwise why bother with any contracts? Of course riders can pick and choose where and when they ride - but equally if they choose to do that, then there will be consequences. Exactly what those consequences might be are dependant on the contracts and rules that are in place for each league/country. As has been stated previously there are also potentially visa/work permit conditions that any such rider would also need to consider! Darcy will ride on Wednesday against the Bees - unless he picks up an even more serious injury in Sweden this evening - in which case Poole will be seriously in trouble, and will undoubtedly seek some form of special dispensation to redeclare again!! Of course, if he does tweak the knee on Wednesday than a redeclaration may be on the cards anyway without the need for any special dispensation. stevebrum
Tai picked and chose his meetings last season. If you really believe that, then there is no help.
foreverblue
If you really believe that, then there is no help. Of course i don't but everyone is saying about Darcy picking and choosing meetings, didn't Tai ride when injured but not for Wolves, i don't blame him but if Darcy did the same, can you imagine the outcry. Gavan
Tai picked and chose his meetings last season. no he didnt. i dont disagree with Darcy not riding here but as stated you have to feel diappointed if he doesnt. If Darcy doesnt ride its a 3 pointer which is no good for anyone. Poole have a lot of matches coming up this month. I can see Darcy riding against Coventry then pulling out of the other meetings thus meaning Poole can get a guest

I can see Darcy riding against Coventry then pulling out of the other meetings thus meaning Poole can get a guest. I wish you'd stop saying that because Matt might not have thought of that one. We'll find out tomorrow.
mdmc82
Can we please get back to the meeting. Ward has said hes riding on Wednesday and been announced in the team. He's been riding well in GPs & Poland so not sure what the problem is. Makes Poole stronger than when Holder was average jumping

Tai was mostly missing meetings to ride in the GP`s. Don`t recall him riding for any of his teams because he was injured. If Darcy only rides the GP`s i cant see any issue. Not that i imagine that is what he is planning. But you cant hand select your meetings to suit your GP structure as that is unfair to the teams you have a contract with. Like i said i feel for Darcy because he is clearly struggling with his injury but he still has a decision to make.

SteveLyric2
Darcy reporting knee very sore - but its going to be after every meeting and doesn't expect to be fully race fit for upto 4 weeks!!!!!. I hope he leaves the Pairs to Noddy and Davey on Friday and has a day off or physio or both!!
Gavan
He complained on twitter of being sore afterwards. I called it last week. If he doesnt ride tonight Poole can only use a 3 pointer. If he rides tonight, goes through the pain barrier, then pulls out, Poole can use a guest for their heavy schedule. Admittedly most guests wont be up to Wards level but better then a 3 pointer. I hope im proved wrong and Darcy rides in all the meetings

waiheke1
no he didnt. But he did. He pulled out of the sec meeting to make sure he was fit for tge final gp. He missed the odd wolves meeting.Totally understandable and the sensible option. But no different to the Darcy case. Anyway im sure ward will ride tonight, and then poole can use a facility as required. Tai was mostly missing meetings to ride in the GP`s. Don`t recall him riding for any of his teams because he was injured. If Darcy only rides the GP`s i cant see any issue. Not that i imagine that is what he is planning. Of course if the teams arent happy with him and his unavailability they can simply trrminate his contract. But if poole redeclare withoutvhim they will struggle to fithim bsck iinso much better to keep him and use guests ad needed Edited May 21, 2014 by waihekeaces1
Shale Searcher
Will he, won't he? Could be irrelevant as the weather tonight could put the mockers on both Poole and Ipswich as a band of very heavy rain crosses the channel bringing with it squally winds/embedded frontal thunderstorms... Still quite a bit of uncertainty on its exact arrival time and there's a chance it could only graze Poole, and hit Ipswich a tad later than expected, and both run..... It will be a lot clearer on this around 3/4pm
foreverblue
I would suggest Darcy gives Fisher a particularly wide berth tonight as it seems he was back to his dirty best at Peterborough last night trying to shove a young Australian in the fence, don't think Darcy needs that!!
