Woz01
Get the council involved has to be in the thinking, show them what this sport can do and the visitors it can attract and you never know they might even help fund it. For councils its all about tourism and if it will be used by the local community.
Skodaman
I have done the emails to Rugby council and the rugby Mp who is on the house of commons speedway committee , but as of yet nothing else . I was expecting to be a part of a large campaign by now and as i had heard nothing of any such co-ordinated protest I thought I would see if i could kickstart something by starting this thread , I'm shocked to be honest at the apparent lack of interest by other Coventry supporters but if I hear of anything I will definitely make you aware of it so you can add your weight to whatever campaign that may be !! Thank you Finding out who now owns the stadium would be first step Perhaps the land registry will provide the answer to that one
deanr1
Colin Mills I will PM you my details, count me in for any support you need. I've been going to Brandon nearly all my life (since the early 80's) and don't want to see it close. Sandhu has no intention of building us a new stadium even if he could, he's only interested in the £££ he can make for himself. Even if he did build one, it will be no Brandon that's for sure, we shouldn't go down without a fight.
deanr1
We use this website at work: www.planningfinder.co.uk , you can see what planning applications have been submitted in any local area. Brandon Stadium's post code is CV8 3GJ, nothing is showing at the moment but it might be worth keeping an eye on. If you create a login it will send you alerts for any applications in that area. oleoleole
Has the sale of the stadium actually gone through yet? If so, who to and what are their plans? Until this is clarified and is fact, not gossip, surely nothing can be done yet. When the news broke the "sale was imminent" but I haven't seen anything official since. mdmc82
Sale has gone through as it was the sale of Coventry stadium that caused problems with Fishers passport due to place of work
Woz01
Sale has gone through as it was the sale of Coventry stadium that caused problems with Fishers passport due to place of work I believe that was the change of ownership of the club not stadium. Ryan had said his family were actually living here illegally last year. Nothing final has been reported regarding the stadium far as I'm aware.
lucifer sam
It's been more than 3 months since the announcement that Mr Sandhu had bought Brandon from the partner that didn't exist and started trying to trick the Bees supporters that A: he was somehow being forced to develop it : B doing anything whatsoever to do the impossible and find new home for the Speedway and Stock cars . No wonder Sandhu is so successful at making money. It has taken him a few months to distract the attention of the Coventry speedway supporters ,with empty promises and lies and here we are racing towards the end of year one of the 3 years Sandhu knows it will take to turn round the old covenants and gain the relevant permissions to build houses on the only place In the Coventry area where theres any hope of seeing speedway in the future , While we are all distracted by the events of a new season of speedway what do you think Sandhu is doing ? one thing is for sure he's not busy following the Bees he's too damn busy lobbying planning committes etc to get on with his development plans , Open your eyes Bees Fans your track is slipping away quicker than you realise , if you are gullible enough to believe Sandhu will keep his word then ask him and lets see what he has done , but if not get onto Rugby councll and protest at them allowing chnage of use , it's in your hands well it is for an ever decreasing length of time !! Speedibee, we often disagree on subjects, but not this one. Well said. What are the Coventry fans doing about keeping Brandon open? Have you got the local council and MP on side? Believe me, you're in a far stronger position now, with an operational stadium and speedway team, than you will be in three years time once the speedway at Brandon has finished. It's time for you guys to get together and let Mr Sandhu know the strength of your feelings. It's one of the best speedway stadiums in the country (if not THE best) and you can't afford to let it close. All the best Rob
Gresham78
I agree with a lot of what has been said on this thread. It will be a tragedy if Brandon is redeveloped. I got round all the Elite League tracks last season (bar Peterborough)and in my opinion Brandon is head and shoulders above anywhere else. The stadium has more facilities than most others and as a Swindon fan I'm very envious as the Abbey is a dump in comparison (sorry fellow Robins fans but it is). I don't know Mr Sandhu but as others have said I very much doubt he's doing anything about locating another site and let's face it you're unlikely to get anywhere with the permissions that Brandon enjoys. I started watching speedway at Eastville in Bristol and when the Bulldogs were thrown out I remember the empty promises made by the council about doing 'everything possible to help the team find an alternative site'. I wish Colin Mills, Speedibee and all other Bees fans the very best of luck with whatever plan they may employ to save the Stadium. I don't think this is just about Coventry either; it will be a great loss to the sport in general if Brandon closes.
ColinMills
lets get this going people. not just bees fans/speedway fans. Mark Pawsey m.p......easy to email/contact, lets flood his inbox. if you or i had 1 msg, we would probaly ignore it, get 500, he may see theres a issue, but we ALL need to do it, think EVERYONE need to see the cause is about COVENTRY SPEEDWAY, nothing else, no individual..local press/local papers/council, it all need to be hit hard and quick. i can arrange a venue in rugby if we can gaurantee we fill it..social media must make these demonstrations possible to organise, would be nice to have someone from within the club for a focus point as well..brandon is a superb venue steeped in history..everyone need to be on-side, as bickering will just waste time and efforts..maybe anyones ideas to make this effective could use this thread to throw ideas in the ring, and we can arrange step by step events/meetings etc..im willing to drive from ipswich anytime, we need hundreds from warwickshire and as many from all over too at least have a crack at this one?

I don't live in the area any more so can;t help with organising that. I'm sure Tiberon who lives in Brandon who was running for councillor, might be able the help there if you pm him?
