Lakeside V Kings Lynn 19 May El A Sky Match

Recommended Posts

Jon Cook wrote about this in the programme last year. The crowd numbers always start off good at the start of the season drop off in the next few months then pick up again in the summer. Probably most clubs are similar. However crowds are always horrendous for TV meetings. My guess is that in part this is due to the 7.30 start. If you look nat the crowd on an average Friday the place seems half empty at 7.45 then seems to double by 8 pm. I think for the fans living in Kent it's a tough call to get home from work and get across from Dartford by 7.30.

I think you are right with that.

Opening meetings usually attract a few more after the winter break but drop away because of just how cold it can be. They then increase a bit a few weeks later.

Talking at Plymouth last night, there were a few that hadn't been because previous weeks the weather had been freezing and I know its something Somerset suffer from.

Does anybody know of the decisions tomorrow in regards to Kenneth riding in this fixture.

Looking at him in the farcical SGP, he looked very tentative when close to other riders, but when he gated he seemed to cope ok with the track.

I personally feel this fixture has come to soon and looking at the long term, it probably be best, if he gave the collar bone more time to mend, than come back too soon.

My choice would be a 'Horse for the course' guest in preference to RR. But, as there are 2 other matches on, the choice is limited.

No doubt Rob and Buster are on the case.

I too think Bjerre should rest a little longer looking at it last night.

The only guests we can realistically have tomorrow is Kildemand,Batchelor,Mads and maybe the Pawlicki at Poole, anyone outside those won't be good enough cover I think.

I would suggest it has to be a rider who is based in the UK. I think KB should give it a couple of more weeks. Shame then if he has to miss the Poole meeting. Can see Batch getting the number 5 slot for us tomorrow night.

That is the perennial problem. If a rider comes out half fit and only scores half his normal point that's no good to his team and no good to the paying public but to the rider who has bills to,pay it's still money so most of them will give it a go even if not fully fit. Kenny at his best is very good round Lakeside and there are not many that could adequately step in to replace him. Lakeside is not the sort of place to be with a broken collar bone as we saw with Tai last year. A good performance from KB would likely be the catalyst for Lynn to take a point or two out of this IMO , but otherwise Neil's can't do it all on his own. Rory doesn't seem to be quite the force he used to be at Purfleet, although Lakesides heat leaders will have to ride like heatleaders, which is something we haven't seen a lot of this year.

Be a big call from Rob Lyon whether to include Kenny if he declares himself fit. Rob has to do what is best for the team not what is best for KB

Hopefully KB will be rested till Poole on Thursday (at least) - can't see him coping very well at Lakeside's micro-track.

I would like to see him rest for another week or so.I know riders like to come back early if possible but looking at some pictures he didn't look comfortable at all yesterday.

Lets get Kildemand tomorrow and Tai on Thursday that should hopefully cover his absence for another 10 days.
