Edinburgh Vs Ipswich (pl) 16/5/2014

Recommended Posts

Thanks to the Monarchs Chatzone for the updates.

Excellent first 5 heats for the Witches and decent last 5 heats. Unfortunately the 5 in the middle count towards the score too!

When 3 of the side fail to beat an opponent a 20 point defeat is as good as you can expect. Therein is the positive - the Witches are capable of returning to a place like Edinburgh and running them close or even pulling out a shock if they all get it right on the night.

Well done to the Monarchs - a fine win for a fine side.

Finally - sounded nasty for Fox. Any early news? Hopefully not too serious.

Well I was right for 5 heats that Ippo could pull off the win!!

Then they crumbled or crumpled or whatever.

Really bad luck for Aaron Fox with his first heat win and then a paid win and then off to hospital with a suspected fractured femur.

However later news suggested possibly no broken bones but a very bad gash in his thigh which might require a skin graft.

Sounds a bit like Doyley's injury.

Glad Hawkins made the trip - 4 last places is good for us (yes he was 3rd in heat 15 but he was the last to finish!!)!!

Really surprised that Ellis only picked up 1 point.

Are his recent falls catching up with him?

So what's going on with rohan this season then? I think he put a kiss of death on his season when he said he wanted to challenge for the number one jacket. A lot of money was spent on his equipment for this season. Or has he found his level already? I guess by Hawkins score is maybe why he doesn't normally bother going to Edinburgh. Oh well, the monarchs are a very good team anyway, so no surprise we lost. On to tomorrow for more disappointment maybe.

Ellis actually didn't score anything, he was last in heat 2 with Hawkins third.

the track was a bit iffy to start which i think caught the home boys out for the first half of the meeting. The track then settled and we rattled of 5 straight 5-1's then it was game over for the witches.

Got to feel for Aaron started of so well unbeaten by an opponent in his first 2 rides then for that awkward looking crash in his 3rd. His thigh got got on his throttle when the bike just stopped when it got caught in the fence. He has a very nasty gash right down his right thigh, it has gone all the way down to the bone hence why they thought his femur was broken. Apparently he was sitting on the track picking at bits of fat coming out his thigh and flicking it away. :D Hopefully he won't be out for to long.

Also congrats to Hawkins for finding his way to the dale. :t:

Aaron Fox may have picked up a nasty sounding injury but he did technically score a paid max, I guess that means John Campbell was correct, he is better than Manzares who has not managed to do that yet :D

Well that turned out to be a far bigger win for the home men than looked possible after the first few heats.

With Richie Worrall and Gino Manzares going unbeaten in their first two rides and Heeps chipping in with a heat win to put Ipswich up by 2 points after 5 heats the garden wasn't looking rosey for the Monarchs.

However a last to second (behind his partner) by Sedgy in heat 6 proved a catalyst to an incredible burst of scoring from the Monarchs five 5-1's in a row and all of a sudden Ipswich were all at sea and clutching at straws to find a way back into the match.

It was not to be for the visitors with the home men seeing the match out to a comfortable 56 - 36 win.

Get well soon to Aaron Fox (jings apparently you could see down to the bone with the cut to his leg).

Absolutely devastated for Aaron, he looked really good tonight, not sure how long he'll be out for. His ride in heat 7 holding off Risager was immense, he was covering every move the Dane made. That was a big scalp, and Morten is no slouch at the Dale as he later showed. I really enjoy watching Richie Worrall as well, he is such a classy rider.

In general tonight was a much more entertaining meeting than we've had recently, despite the early scare!

Good news is that the injury suffered by Aaron Fox last night isn't quite as bad as it might've been. He does not need a skin graft to his thigh, he has received stitches. so hopefully he wont be out for all that long.

well the expected result in the end but disappointing after the promise early on. Richie and Gino did there jobs and more. Cam is now starting to get his act together and confidence back which is a good thing. Risager continues to be inconsistent away from home home. The reserves were woeful really and needed to chip in with a lot more points.

The main issue with us is Rohan. Just isnt producing the goods at the moment. Looked immense in Risagers testimonial and you thought he would be in for a good season. Then again last year he dominated the star of anglia so maybe its the individuals that get him going. He isnt doing great at home and is worse away. Would Rosen be a better bet?

Omg, don't mention changes, Louis will not like it. In fact he won't do anything. Everyone said give him time to see if any different from his dad, but no difference, won't make changes to try and improve the team.

Do you really think its a case of wont, to be fair to Louis is there riders out there to make the difference, IMO there`s probably a number of PL teams who`d like to make a change but the riders of enough quality just are not there at the minute. Look at the riders who we know are available, it hardly quickens the pulse.

Just seen the picture of the injured Fox, ouch! But got me thinking how such an injury could occur? And did the type of suit he was wearing have an influence?

Yeah, maybe. Kevlar is OK for some kinds of protection, is certainly miles lighter than leather.

But rips like Aaron Fox has sustained would have been better-protected by the old cow-hide.

His thigh hit the screw on his thottle. His suit was actually holding everything together until they cut his suit up.

We're more than happy with the progress Aaron is making. But I must say Gino was tremendous last night, better than his 6+3 suggests, and he could be the next big American, long overdue.
