Premier League Pairs - Friday 11th July

Recommended Posts

When Morris was interviewed immediately after the race, he said Fricke did nothing wrong and seemed more upset at himself than anything else. His outside blast didn't come off and he went down and was excluded.

To suggest all four back is clutching at straws. Suggesting the ref makes a decision to keep the home support and SKY viewers happy is downright delusional. The supporters who walked out because things weren't going their way looked petty and childish. Their night was spoiled by a kamikaze lunge up a dead end. Nothing more and nothing less.

What? your saying that Ref should make his call based on what the tv and fans might think or want ? No wonder people think the sport is a joke .

I though speedway was a sport not Big Brother ...you post above shows in a nutshell why speedway has so many problems .

IT'S not just sport ... like it or not it's in the entertainment business. No doubt many, maybe even the majority, agree with you but I just happen to believe that we need to look at the bigger picture.

So as I said you want Refs etc to cheat so the fans and tv are Happy ...I really can't believe I reading this

Maybe in the cricket today the umpires should given some dodgy lbw's to keep the crowd and tv happy .

Entertainment business or not the referee had a duty to do his job, that he did by excluding Morris.

I WASN'T at Somerset and only managed to catch the Final via a TV set at the Cardiff hotel. According to the letter of the law the referee probably made the right decision but what about the bigger picture? In a nutshell so many of speedway's problems were there for all to see.

So in an ideal world and given the importance of the race, and taken everything into consideration, what would you have done?

YOU call it cheating others might suggest common sense. Don't think you lbw analogy stacks up but, as said, we see it differently.

And at the same time stuffed another nail into british speedways coffin...

Of course it's cheating you wanted someone to act in a corrupt manner so not to upset people watching on Tv

I NEVER suggested the referee should act in a corrupt manner. There were many who believed that it wasn't a clear cut decision and that all four back was an option and might have brought what was, by all accounts, a good meeting to a more satisfactory conclusion.

Nothing corrupt Orion, just common sense, which sadly lacks sometimes. Small wonder speedway sometimes puts its foot in mouth, you only had to watch the mass walk out.

Yes you did .You say he should based his choice on what the TV and Fans wanted .No ref in speedway or any sport should based his choice or what is good for tv or the fans .

What common sense ? under the rules the ref thought Morris should have excluded and that's what he did ..The ref job is not to please the crowd it's to make the right call .

And there may well have been more who thought the correct decision was made, but making such a statement has no validity unless everyone present has cast their vote, with the result being verified by the Electoral Reform Society :P

I do detect a touch of arrogance from those in the media who appear to believe that their views should override everyone else, including the referee in charge of the meeting.

Tatum was spouting off live on air, that if anyone should have been excluded, it should have been Fricke.

Perhaps he should review the recording and have the decency to admit he was wrong on Monday's Sky transmission.
