Premier League Pairs - Friday 11th July

Recommended Posts

As per the interview I quoted with Jim McGregor earlier in the thread, he felt it was too far around the corner for all 4 back to be an option.

As there was no contact, he also felt it was a straightforward decision to exclude Nick Morris.

Understand what he said but I view it as could have gone either way. I think there are a number of instances in a race, especially during lap 1, to rerun with all 4.

If some are saying all 4back because they feel that's the right decision then fair enough.I can see why there is an argument for this.it's when some are saying all 4back because it's a final I don't get.a final or a first heat, it shouldn't make any difference to the decision

Agree for sure.

Ok so at Ipswich tonight and Wolbert off of 3 goes wider and wider. Mandates off 4 goes for the blast runs out of room goes down on the SECOND BEND. No contact. Referees decision is all 4 back. So please stop talking this crap about he had to make a decision as he could of put all 4 back something that Chris Louis agreed with in tonight's programme. That's 3 ex british champions Louis Tatum and Havelock who say the decision was wrong but what would they know! Oh in case you were wondering the ref tonight was Tony Steele I mean as if he knows the rules!

There was contact both times at Ipswich tonight between Wolbert & Manzares so nothing like the pairs decision as there was no contact. How Tony Steele could exclude Manzares when both incidents at Ipswich were the same is beyond me. Wolbert should've been excluded for knocking of Gino.

Oh come on... It's one week on, no two incidents are the same, the Ref applied the rules at the Pairs and you can count on one hand the amount of people who give 2 hoots about what the likes of Tatum says.

Get over it...

jeez touchy touchy. Im an Ippo fan so couldnt give two hoots who won the pairs if it wasnt my team. was merely pointing out that a similar incident occured and what the ref ruled.

Poor Jim McGregor..... Damned if you do and damned if you don't. He has been congratulated by some rather big names and condemned by others..... I think probs 50/50 ...... Truth is, (like it or lump it) he did his job according to the rules

You can't change the rules just because it is a final or it will upset Kelvin Tantrum or Gary Havelock or anyone else

The TV footage proves there was no contact....... Nick himself said Max did nothing wrong.....

I have heard Nick's team manager on more than one occasion complain that Nick has to learn there are 4 laps in a race and funny Garry didn't complain to the ref about the exclusion..... Not even Nick himself

Yes, I would've preferred to see 4 riders contest the final but don't blame us or the ref that there wasn't

I had a great time at the pairs, great racing and well organised as usual. Just a shame our lads didn't get the full credit they deserved for winning

Unfortunately when someone "wins" in that fashion it will always be a bit of a damp squib , barring the final race I think most neutrals will agree that the best pair on the night lost. I have never been a fan of this business of having semis and finals at the end of meetings. The team, person pair or four who has the most points at the end should be declared the winner. In the pairs and fours you would have to have semis and finals so that all bases had been covered. Using the pairs as a guide Boro would have got 5 points from the final race and the Rebels 4.

Before the usual suspects start loading their guns now , this is just an opinion I have nothing against the Monarchs winning, but maybe for the good of the sport the powers that be may need to come up with a system in the future where the best rider/pair four on the night actually win.

so, would the same apply to the GP's, or other 'idividual's' and league's, where the team/rider, over a given period, with the most point's, win's ???,,, I'd agree with that :-)
