me2
I can't help thinking that if an Edinburgh rider had been excluded in the same circumstances, the Somerset support would have been having orgasms, no one would have walked out, Edinburgh would have been knocked off their pedestal, the forum would be a plethora of smileys and the 'bigger picture' could be put away for another occasion. Starman2006
What common sense ? under the rules the ref thought Morris should have excluded and that's what he did ..The ref job is not to please the crowd it's to make the right call . No pleasing you is there? Take it you did watch the meeting meeting or are you just writing from what you can read? I can't help thinking that if an Edinburgh rider had been excluded in the same circumstances, the Somerset support would have been having orgasms, no one would have walked out, Edinburgh would have been knocked off their pedestal, the forum would be a plethora of smileys and the 'bigger picture' could be put away for another occasion. Another one who clearly wants speedway to die on its arse..
jenga
In this instance he should have done. and could end up as corupt as an mp. plus prob do himself out of a job he loves. then speedway would be the looser. ref. jim mcgregor got it correct. 4 riders in a race, one falls off(backed up by nicks comments on tv) ON THE 2ND BEND, faller excluded thats how the speedway rules work. cant see what all the fuss is about. swings and roundabouts spring to mind..

Under normal circumtances yes, but these were not normal circumtances, this was a final where a lot was a stake, and common sense should have prevailed. Sometimes referees need to engage their brain. he had plenty of time to do so, and assess and the importance of the situation, clearly he failed to do that. He engaged hand before brain.. And from a Neutral point of view, why didn't the BSPA find a Referee from the midlands to take charge? Again, not thought out properly.. TheScotsman
Some posters should watch wrestling if they want entertainment disguised as sport. Speedway should not come down to that level - it should be honest and above board. That means sticking to the rules. To suggest that sticking to the rules will kill off through sport - words fail me. Perhaps commentators should have explained the rules and situation to the viewers? Or should we have a new brand of WWF for speedway? Maybe need 2 falls or a knockout to get a result in each race? Some posters should step back and have a think about what they have said.

Maybe you should try engage your brain (if one exists) as you are talking p!sh. I can imagine you now Starman the ref. last heat decider someone falls of while attempting a pass on the 3rd lap. everyone expects the rider to be exclude but your sitting in the refs box saying to yourself it's a last heat decider he fell by himself trying to pass someone i should by the rule book exclude him from the re-run but nah seeing it's a last heat decider i'll chuck him back in and go with all 4 back only fair as it's an important heat.

Not talking about where in the country the ref came from i'm talking about you saying the ref should off put all 4 back just because it was an important situation witch is complete nonsense. TheScotsman
Should have been a midlands ref? !! I would have thought a neutral track should be a higher priority.
scunny1
From a neutral stance and it is really strange not having your own team to support- Ref made a good, brave call on final heat. Was it really such a great meeting? In my opinion seen much better racing before. Not having your team in the final makes for a quicker return to your car, just a pity some moron boxed me in -Thanks to the guy who helped me out. Back next year with a Scorpion pairing hopefully!

Best you can do,,, Oh dear. Why, Somerset always get the pairs, a Neutral ref would have been more appropriate. But nobody thought of that, did they.. ekimba
Another one who clearly wants to see Speedway going to the wall.. Why can't we talk about a Neutral Referee? No thats not convienient, is it...The only person talking nonsense is you.. Oh and a few others like you...So explain who would have been a neutral referee on Friday, where should he have come from ? Are you really calling Mr.McGregor's integrity into question, because he is Scottish, or because he gave a decision that you didn't agree with. It's the scoring or rules for the pairs competition that needs changing.
TheScotsman
Perhaps you should look at your user name !!! You got a problem with it? Or are you trying to be racist? You obviously don't know that The Scotsman is a well renowned heavyweight newspaper in Scotland. Still don't know how you think ignoring the rules will make speedway a successful spectator sport again though. Best you can do,,, Oh dear. Why, Somerset always get the pairs, a Neutral ref would have been more appropriate. But nobody thought of that, did they.. That's the best yet. It shouldn't be on a neutral track because Somerset always gets it! Absolutely priceless - A1 idiot. So if Brummies are in the PL next year, where does the ref come from? A1+ idiot!
