Premier League Pairs - Friday 11th July

He'd be better off learning from the PL riders, more chance of spending his career there than anywhere near a GP.

And that's the sort of attitude that will keep Gb speedway where it is today, at the bottom of the ladder.

At least the lad is showing some ambition, whether he makes international standard or not is neither here nor there at least he's giving it a go.

Forum members continually complain about the lack of opportunities for our youngsters to gain experience yet here you are criticising a rider for taking the opportunity to learn.

... and the flip side to that is that if the Brit's averages were high enough, they would have qualified for selection.

Interesting too that Barker has $hit on Plymouth from a great height. Cook rode for Edinburgh when he was a track reserve previously but Barker clearly doesn't fancy it.

Again don't necessarily disagree but in some cases clubs would rather go for a foreign rider than show a bit of faith in a British lad. Your team have shown what can be achieved in the shape of Wright & Starke.

As for Barker, don't blame him in the slightest for choosing Cardiff practice.

Whats your point exactly?

The premier league need to buy into the fast track process. We need a stepping stone from NL to Elite. Riders could be relegated, promoted or moved into the main body of the team depending on their averages. I.E Lewis Blackbird needs to be moved into the main body of the team creating a space for the next FTR who has had experience in the premier league (A.Birks springs to mind). If we are going to use a fast track system then lets do it correctly. Their must be structure. Not just shell out the kids if they are struggling. At least a rider struggling in the Elite league would now that he would have a ride in the premier. Hopefully in a few years the premier pairs would then have a majority of British riders and the future would look promising

tbf the fast track system was set up to save the EL and had just been glossed over to look like we are looking after the youngins ... Because if we were genuinely interested in their development and learning it would have been implemented throughout the 3 leagues, not just straight in at the deep end.... It's benifited 2nd strings if anything with some easy pickings in certain races.

Can see Masters & Frick take the pairs title north of the border they are all, as a team, on the crest of a wave and all are hungry for silver wear for the trophy cabinet

i think edinburgh are the underdogs for this now, but with masters wanting to prove a point at his old club and fricke is a much better rider this season

think you are right :)

Group A - Workington and Panthers to progress with Redcar to push both teams all the way.

Group B - Somerset and Edinburgh to progress with Berwick the team to push both, but certainly the weaker group.

Final.....

Somerset (if they don't win, wont have a better chance) Workington, Panthers and Edinburgh.

What is Plymouth's pair?

If Barker is at Cardiff, and they've sacked Kalle K, surely they will be far too weak, and should be replaced by Sheffield or Rye House?

Plymouth embarrassingly weak....

GROUP A: WORKINGTON – Josh Grajczonek/Rene Bach, PETERBOROUGH – Lasse Bjerre/Ulrich Ostergaard, REDCAR – Richard Lawson/Aaron Summers, IPSWICH – Richie Worrall/Morten Risager, NEWCASTLE – Stuart Robson/Lewis Kerr.

GROUP B: EDINBURGH – Sam Masters/Max Fricke, SOMERSET – Nick Morris/Olly Allen, PLYMOUTH – Rasmus Jensen/Kyle Newman, BERWICK – Claus Vissing/David Bellego, SHEFFIELD – Simon Stead/Leigh Lanham.

And how.... Of the teams not in Pairs, Rye's two (excluding Garrity, who'll be at Cardiff) are on 14.53, Scunthorpe are 14.25, Glasgow on 14.0 --- and the dynamic duo of Jensen and Newman are at the party with a combined average of 11.62!

TBH his career seems to be in a lull at the moment but a victory in a mseting like this could get him going again or perhaps he needs another team change. I personally would prefer the Monarchs to win.

Have a little look at Rene's score last night at Rye, and Worky the week before, team change my backside  I personally would prefer ANYBODY but the Monarchs to win :approve:
