semion
I think Rob has selected well for the Brum meeting. I guess we could always select better but only Rob knows what was available to him.
Star Fever
I'm sure that everyone on BSF who advocates £10 speedway will delight at the news of the reduced admission prices and will show the courage of their convictions by making a bee-line for the turnstiles and ensure a bumper crowd. Best get there early to ensure you get the best view points. No doubt someone can get a link for the benefit of the budget conscious to print their own race cards, as the club don't really need your programme money, being as flush with cash as they are. Speedway on the cheap. This is what the Scribes and the Pharisees of BSF want, and that's what you're going to get! £10 ? Where does it say that? All I see (first post) is a combined £20 for TWO matches which is not a lot of use for away supporters!! Doesn't bother me anyway I'll not be coming to this farce
guitar_art
'Lack of cooperation' cited as the reason it's not been rearranged, but can't blame Brum for wanting to go ahead. Far weaker with those guests but I'm sure they will give their all and we should be able to collect a point. Would fancy us for all four with a full team though. Disappointing. Co-operation has to work both ways. As has been pointed out on the Brummie forum there was little cooperation from Kings Lyn last year over rearranging a rained off meeting at the tail end of the season. As I recall the BSPA had to get involved.

Just can't believe there wasn't a more appropriate date for this meeting over the next four months.

The Pedaler
£10 ? Where does it say that? All I see (first post) is a combined £20 for TWO matches... As they say...do the math.
Trees
The math that says Lynn fans won't benefit from the offer, well unless they're off up to Brum next week too?
semion
Why are Brum making this offer ? Could it be suggested they need a quick cash injection from the fans ?
SCB
Why are Brum making this offer ? Could it be suggested they need a quick cash injection from the fans ? Or they're trying a promotion to get new fans in. The problem is, they have done this so many times in the last 12 months it's stopped being a one off, a promotion, something you must make the most of now because you know theres going to be another one next month. The trick is to use this kind of think selectively.
david2905
Why are Brum making this offer ? Could it be suggested they need a quick cash injection from the fans ? I'd suggest trying to bring some of the crowds back that have drifted away with the poor team thus far, they might turn up for these two matches, but won't be back regularly until we track a better team, Covatti for Kennett was a start, but won't make much difference on it's own. stevebrum
Or they're trying a promotion to get new fans in. Cant believe some are questioning the motives! What does it matter?? Get behind the team and turn out in big numbers, if you want Speedway at Perry Barr! Excellent promotion by the Brummies. Cant see why they cant offer travelling fans a £10 pound entry fee for either meeting as its wrong to expect the travelling fans to pay £20 when in all probability they will only visiting once.
semion
Could it have the adverse effect on some ? In as much as people who can only make one of the meetings may feel they are overpaying for that one meeting compared to other supporters ? If the object is to draw back the fans who have deserted surely an offer that would be available to all would be a better option.

The thing is, Brum were top of the League last year and their crowds were reportedly dreadful then as well, with some crowds reported in the Mail as being around the 600 mark. You have to question whether the people of Birmingham want speedway in sufficient enough numbers to make EL speedway viable.
S4r4h
If you are only coming for the one meeting, the normal admission prices apply ;-)
semion
If you are only coming for the one meeting, the normal admission prices apply ;-) I understand that. What i dont get is how that encourages new/lapsed supporters to give it another it a go/another go ? To me, it seems the people who will take advantage of the deal is maybe those that would be attending both meetings anyway.
The Pedaler
Why are Brum making this offer ? Could it be suggested they need a quick cash injection from the fans ? Absolutely - it's no secret that Birmingham has lost a lot of money in the past and this year is in need of every penny it can scramble together. There's no new sponsorship, many of the old sponsors have gone, there's no Sky money, so it's down to the crowds to make it pay, or not. The math that says Lynn fans won't benefit from the offer, well unless they're off up to Brum next week too? The EL isn't like the PL, away fans don't matter any more. Get over it! Excellent promotion by the Brummies. There are those who say that anyone who reduces prices in order to buy in "rent a crowd" is either a: "doing something" or b: being an "excellent promoter" - why because the people saying it get in a few quid cheaper. What SCB says though is absolutely right. You can bank on Groupon, Amazon Local, etc etc offers to buy a crowd in for a week...so much so that the smarter people are no longer buying season tickets and becoming "Offer Jockeys". An "Offer Jockey" could have saved £50 on the price of the 2013 season ticket last year, so no surprise then that season ticket sales this year are at an all time low. I understand that. What i dont get is how that encourages new/lapsed supporters to give it another it a go/another go ? To me, it seems the people who will take advantage of the deal is maybe those that would be attending both meetings anyway. As has been said before...the promoters will be praised for at least "doing something". And if you are Stevebrum, you will think that they are "excellent" because Stevebrum will be £5 per meeting richer in his pocket. Even if you question the effectiveness of the policy, at least they will be thanked and praised for it, and their egos will look as good as the bank balance looks bad. Nigel
God.... aint this old chestnut been roasted to death.... constant whinging on about admission prices as though it was the Holy Grail and this simplistic idea will right all speedways wrongs Meanwhile something interesting like the Danny King Affair has slipped completely off the radar ............and of course the actual match "Football a £1 pound sport"

Nigel
It was on the BSPA website last Friday, but the Brummie site has been extremely coy and made no mention of it.................... Hmmmmmm King is doubling up/down/sideways, which ever.. with Newcastle ...............now how did he achieve that?.... shouldn't be hard to work out.. scored a 15 point Max against Wolves after he had signed?.. Now you know the real reason why Kennett was given the elbow... so King could join the Diamonds.
