Wolves V Swindon... 12th May

Recommended Posts

Wow, we really turned that around! Just goes to show when Woffy is firing we will be a danger.

Fully expected the Robins to maintain the pressure as they started well and were gating much better than our boys.

Track was very tricky tonight and really played into the Robins hand early on.

The riders said the track was great in the 2nd half of the meet however the racing, in comparison to its usual high standards, was a little tame.

WOLVES

TAI - Looked quicker from the off. Got ridden out on the 1st lap of heat 1 but was soon chasing after North. However after that it was Woffy of old. If this is a sign of things getting back to normal then his and our chances can start to look up. Great to have the golden boy back to his best 4.5/5 MOTM

JACOB - Not sure what the mechanical issue was in Heat 1 but was solid after that with a comfy win in his last. 2.5/5

RICKY - had some excellent battles with Killer and looked quick but got caught out a little more tonight. 2/5

TY - Much improved. No idea how he lost 3rd on the line in heat 6 as we had all filled out our programmes so certain we were he had hung on. Looking a lot more assured, Wolves may well be on the cusp of a good run with our ty`s back to form. 4/5

PIOTR - Just could not handle the deep stuff in his first heat but was his usual class act after that. Riding well with Woffy in the big heats that sealed all the points. 4/5

JOE - didn't look to comfortable but at least beat his opposite number with comfort. 1/5

ASH - Heat 14 will go down in folklore as he pulled some fantastic lines to pass and re-pass Worrall. Local boy made good. 4/5

Robins

Killer - Expected more but his battles with Ricky were a joy. Never got close to the Wolves top 2. Thought he was unlucky to get excluded in Heat 13. He certainly got out of shape causing Tai to crash but i expected the reverse decision. Certainly changed the meeting and subsequent result.2/5

North - Robins quickest and best rider. Deserved a nomination in heat 15. Really was much better than i was expecting. 4/5

Morris - Took a comfy win in heat 3 but was largely hit and miss after. 2/5

Gustafsson - a lucky win in the 7th but was largely invisible in the rest. Heat 14 was a shocker and could just cost him his team place. 1/5

Batchelor - GP boy was largely dreadful and outclassed. Poor. 0.5/5

Greaves - nowhere near competitive. 0/5

Worrall - as expected a great reserve performance. Did all the hard work in the 14th whilst his second string team partner did nothing. 3.5/5

Is this Wolves back on track??? Watch this space. :t:

Swindon were right in this until the dubious exclusion of PK in heat 13. All downhill from there.

Dubious? Was spot on. Who else was to blame? Lost contol while leading and messed everyone else up!

This was certainly a meeting of two halves with the Robins coping better with a very damp track early on winning 5 of the first 6 heats, however as the surface dried out and the track staff carried out extensive grading Wolves took control and finished very strongly with Swindon ending up a well beaten team.

For the Robins Dakota North really excelled being fast out the gate and ready to mix it on the first and second bends. He was abley supported by Steve Worrall who contributed another decent haul of points and is staring to look an inspired choice by Rosco. As for the others Batch had a total off night and was abysmal.PK never really looked comfortable and Nick had a mixed night with a win and a fall. Its unfair to judge Nathan as it was his first meeting but Simon's confidence looks shot and is riding as if he knows his neck is on the block awaiting the axe.

Well done Wolves with Woffy leading the fightback with the impressive Pawlicki.

Have to admit that I thought dropping Nicolai for Dakota North was a big mistake but he was by far the best Swindon rider on show and attacked the heavy / deep track which many struggled on but he won heat one in a time less than half a second off the track record and Tai couldn't get near him.

The track looked perfect to start but it held quite a bit of water and this made the first half of the meeting very difficult and points were dropped by both teams. As the track got better, so did Wolves and Wolves have a great top pairing in Tai and Piotr who were not going to be stopped and with Ashley's excellent Heat 14, Swindon did a Liverpool and let it slip in the last bit.

Although he was unlikely to do much, Dakota North should have been in heat 15

Nothing dubious about it at all. Kildemand got out of control and Tai laid it down. No doubt at all that the ref called it correctly.

Very much how I saw it too on the Bet365 feed. As this was exiting the 2nd Bend the Ref had no other decision to make

The moment I saw it I just knew he was going to be excluded ..a Really easy call for the ref nothing dubious about it at all .

I'd imagine that's because it isn't a game of Fantasy Speedway. Excuses will soon run out for him, needs a couple of decent scores on the bounce, but yet to see any ideas on a better replacement.

Kim Nilsson ?

Nope that waste of space is still in the team.

Don't you need 3 days notice to make a change? With us riding tomorrow even if they were going to sack him then why they do it last night when he would be needed at KL.

Eddie "The Bottler" Kennett is the answer apparently!!!

The only time Kennett has been any good was when he drilled holes in his silencer!

He doesn't deserve another chance at Swindon having let us down on countless occasions.

It is glaringly obvious that changes need to be made if Swindon are to challenge for the play-offs but I really don't think there is the money there to bring anyone decent in.

Trouble is if changes aren't made then crowds will tail off even more which will also hit the promotion in the pocket.

Mind you with Pete Toogood now at the helm this could just be a transitional season before re-joining the Premier League next year.

Couldn't agree more re Kennett and wouldn't want him in as a replacement for SG.

If money was no object, I still don't see who could come in. An untried foreigner perhaps? Pavlic? I personally don't think money is the issue here, it's a restrictive points limit that is in place not leaving much scope for any changes once a season is underway.

Maybe Patchett could put his hand in his pocket and bring in a replacement for Simon
