King's Lynn V Swindon 14/05/14 Sky Meeting

Which current GB manager said of SG. My judgement is that he has masses of potential, he will thrive on the bigger track at Blunsdon.

Followed by. I was delighted to sign him and I predict a good season for him.

Now who could argue with that

Major concern for me is Rory if he was scoring like he should be we would walk all home meetings - really don't no what the problem is with him he's far far better rider than this .

But Rory is beating the riders he should be tbf. Who has he lost to this season that you think he should have beat? You're going to see a few 3rd heatleaders end the season on sub 6 averages., not just Rory. He's doing an OK job, you're all just expecting too much and not taking the new format into account.

It was a 50/50 signing for me & make or break for Simon to prove he wasn't a one trick pony at Eastbourne & he's had some decent meetings & scores at Swindon in the past.

Sadly Simon is just like so many of the modern day Swedish riders that they are fast if in front & just plain woeful if behind.

To be fair you make a good point. Probably should have beaten North last night and Morris once out of two heats but if he scores 6 paid 8 he's done his job.

Admittedly yesterday wasn't his best meeting but in fairness to him, the track was rubbishe, especially to begin with. I'd say 3rd heatlader on 6-7 point averages should be happy with scores of 4 or 5 tbf.

The track wasn't great and contrary to Chris Louis' words of 'wisdom' its not been the same two weeks running so far this year which can't help the home riders at all. So far we've had a perfect track versus ZG, over grippy for Belle Vue & Swindon, fairly slick for Lakeside & Wolves and a Poole-style track without the bumps and ruts against Leicester. For whatever reason Buster is struggling to get it right but the riders always say it's great because it's smooth and consistent every week.

Lynn even when struggling showing their strength definatly the team to beat. The loss of Bjerre is a massive blow especially at home where he would be favourite to win most races, and the fact that Lynn is such a fair track makes it easier for the away sides. Away Lynn can pick horses for courses.

Very powerful reserve pairing with Kerr possibly the strongest in the league and Rose in my mind is one of the best number 7's as well.

Lambert and Porsing are only going to get better as the season progresses and Lynn must be favourites for the league

Is there enough of a difference between the two words to argue?

Bottom line is that he really ought to be scoring seven or eight points at least every home meeting. A top heavy team can't really afford to carry a heat leader.

My comment about Robert earlier in the thread referred to his lack of racing really, he is doing fine over the season as a whole so far but needs to sharpen his gating which extra racing will help.

Depends how you look at it. People keep saying he is on a false average and as a 3rd heat leader he should be excellent back up (certainly agree on the latter part but not the first) but he usually chokes under pressure so all this talk of him being a much better rider is rather a false dawn IMHO.

I think Rory is still capable of banging in a 10 point return. Then again he is also capable of scoring 2/3s. He hasnt had the best of starts to the season, but as I recall he was like that last season but came good at the back end. Could be perfect timing.

The thing with Rory these days is the certainty of the uncertainly on how he will perform.

Besides one season of doing really well he has maintained the same level of uncertainty year on year.

In a team built with 2 outstanding top riders he can go about picking up points without the expected pressure.

He is only exposed when expected to step up to a 2nd heat leader level.

Just watching the TV coverage of the meeting, question, couldn't the ref have excluded Worrall for unfair riding after the heat finished as the coverage clearly showed he forced Rose off and reinstated Lewis? That's what I would have wanted to do if I was ref to be fair!

Don't think there's any rule that allows that TBH - probably because there's not similar facilities in non-TV meetings.

I always thought that until the ref had officially announced the result a rider could be excluded/disqualified/thrown out whatever the term is this season, which is why announcers should keep their mouths firmly shut until told officially. The only way the ref would look at the TV coverage I guess is if someone from Lynn had brought it to his attention before that happened. Now I've seen Buster race up those steps to the box but even he wouldn't have been that fast :P

SL things have changed a little since the days when you went to speedway. No cinders now, and no Japs. Plus of course the main change is that Happiness is no longer 40-38

It's not that long Semion ... I went to Coventry last year. That track would have benefitted from a few tons of cinders ;)
