javw
Utter guff and you know it. Rarely we agree but on this occasion we do. Please show me where I said that. I dont know who the Monk is but he is making up porky pies to fit an argument. Show me the post and I will donate £20 to the BIN fund. Ha ha, yes, you did make such a comment and it appears my memory is better than yours, or perhaps you suffer with selective memory recall. Your £20 is safe , for now, as it would entail scrolling through thousands of posts which I have no inclination to do at the moment. I am happy in the knowledge that I know what was written and have no concern if you admit or deny it, but I do not tell 'porkies'- I have no need to! I imagine you didn't actually believe what you had said but it was just another opportunity to put down Coventry fans. And you complain about Gavan and Stevebrum! .
The Voice Of Reason
Getting back on track - this meeting! We have a young rider with GP potential in Bech; he's currently our top scoring rider. If he produces the rides that he's demonstrated this season to date, then Poole fans you are in for a treat. Exciting rider that uses his head as much as his throttle; and isn't scared to try every racing line to overtake. And if Adam Ellis can replicate his score from last week guesting, then it would be most welcome. At the same time, we have our true Mr. Consistency - Richard Lawson. Meanwhile, in young Ben Morley, we have an ever-improving rider to partner Adam. Ben is doing everything that's expected of him at this stage of his career, and at this level of racing. Then comes the problem of inconsistency. Lewis can ride like a guy possessed; or have an absolute mare at the moment - for reasons people will already be aware of. PK is having potentially the worst start to his season in years - having seen him three times away from home this season, his ongoing inability to gate inevitably far too often leads to minor placings. And the same level of concern has to be mirrored for Watty. In fact, ever since arriving at Lakeside, I've never actually been 100% convinced that his heart is truly in our team. That may sound unduly harsh; but I know that I'm not the only Hammers supporter who holds that view. He may be our captain, and he has certainly done a true Captain's job mentoring our younger riders. However, far too often away from home he's let us down. However, no excuses for not knowing the quickest way around Poole - albeit his scores back on his old manor rarely flatter his obvious ability. The most frustrating aspect of our season to date is the fact that if PK and Watty were hitting the numbers that they are truly capable of, we would be walking this league based upon the overall team's performance - not simply because we've ridden more meetings. At the end of the day, we have our less experienced riders performing far and above what was expected. We could not ask for more from some quarters. Onto Poole. People comment on the quality of the track. I really don't know as I haven't got the gonads to ride a speedway bike on it. However, it certainly produced enough overtaking when I saw the recent meeting on Sky. Man for man, I truly believe that we have better strength in depth BUT, as stated above, we really need our big hitters to start producing the goods. Where I think Poole will certainly have the upper hand, is their gating ability. If we get a point, then I'll be happy enough.

Looking forward to seeing Bech on the Poole track, as he is clearly a rider with some talent! Although a Poole supporter, I do echo your sentiments about Davey Watt and whether he is 100% committed at Lakeside. No doubt a very capable rider at Poole who has pulled a maximum out of the bag time and again. If Kyle Newman can regain some of the confidence he was oozing before his spill with Dryml then I am sure he will do all that is required in the reserve berth. This will be the first time we see Ben Hopwood as part of the Poole 1-7 and it is debatable as to what effect he will have. The Poole heavy hitters are likely to remain near unbeaten as Holder finds mechanical form and our polish duo become stronger and stronger at home. Vaclav should score reasonably and will be determined to out do himself. I believe we will be looking at a 10pt + win for the Pirates with the most exciting racing coming from the reserve positions. Pirate Baz
Very good post 'Voice of Reason'. Constructive comment which is what there should be more of on this forum. We saw Mikkel Bech in the early season challenge and he was very impressive, and I agree Adam Ellis looks a very good prospect. I'm not making any predictions as I always get them wrong, but in this format we have three meetings in one. I think the Pirates will edge the 'heat leader' races, although I think Watty will have a good meeting this time. Hammers second strings will give Josh and Vaclav one of their toughest meeting of the year, especially if Bridger has his right head on, and I do fancy the Hammers reserves to edge the Pirates reserves. There I've sort of made a prediction ................. it will be a tight meeting. With my track record that means someone will win by 20.

Good and fair post (although I do believe Bridger always rides like a 'man possessed'!) The main interest for me is how Bech will ride against the other heat leaders, as in the early season challenge he was only a second string!! Davey seems to have hit some good form, so as long as he's not too 'tired' and his Poole sponsors don't put too much pressure on ,I expect a good performance from him. I think it will be close with Lakeside maybe nicking a point, in Holder's final meeting for the time being!! Bryn
Hoping to get down tomorrow but, alas, can't use public transport option as have health appts both Wednesday and Thursday mornings. So I'm asking if anybody out there has room for another in their vehicle (other than in the boot! ) via M25 near Dartford (could meet at junction 1a immediately after pay booths after you've crossed the bridge) going to the Poole vs Lakeside match tomorrow. If so, would very much appreciate a PM.

No doubt a very capable rider at Poole who has pulled a maximum out of the bag time and again. Hun. No doubt about Davey's commitment I would say. His personal problems seem to be behind him and he is much happier bunny this year. Davey has actually won more races than any other rider this year. In part that is because Lakeside have ridden more matches but he has still won nearly half the races he has started which is better than most. Easily the best of the current captains in the EL. His one weakness is that like his mate Adam Shields he tends to lose the plot when things start going wrong but most of the time I would say his enthusiasm and captaincy is worth a few points on the board before the meeting starts. Tom Turner
Davey is 100% committed to the Hammers. Davey will never ride for Poole again. If Davey could take his pick of clubs it would be Poole... He lives in Poole, his biggest sponsors are in Poole, his best performing track is Poole and he loves to ride here... Just sayin'
Bryn
Doesn't look as if anyone can help in terms of being able to offer me a lift*** so whilst I would have liked to be there tonight, it's just not going to be possible . Never mind I'll content myself to update sites in between watching heats from King's Lynn on Sky. Not a bad alternative but nothing like actually being at a match is it? Right now I've got to get ready to go and see the Podiatrist (didn't they used to be Chiropodists? ) - isn't life fun at times! Hope it's a good meeting at Wimborne Road later. *** Just in case someone can help at the last minute I'll have my mobile - 07774 935468 - with me. You don't have to tune in to it, you get yourself down to Wimborne Road - should be easy enough for a true 'Poole fan'!!! I'm sure you could claim it on expenses??!!
