E I Addio
Quite, but until the 2014 champions are decided, Poole remain the reigning EL champions. e. Only in blue rinse land. According to the Speedway Regulations which all the other clubs follow Poole are the 2013 Elite League Champions. That was the name of the competition and that's what it says on the trophy, not 2013/4 champions.
semion
If Man City and their cheque book team don't win it today it will remind people of the last time Speedways cheque book team last choked it. Nellie
Only in blue rinse land. Don't be rude, it's not necessary. According to the Speedway Regulations which all the other clubs follow Poole are the 2013 Elite League Champions. That was the name of the competition and that's what it says on the trophy, not 2013/4 champions. Yes, the trophy that resides with the reigning champions until they have to give it back at the end of the following season. Surely, the winners hold the trophy for a year and in that period they are the champions, otherwise the implication is that the team who hold the trophy aren't the champions. That sounds nonsensical to me. The trophy clearly pertains to the previous season, but are you really suggesting that there are never any reigning champions? SteveLyric2
...and back to reality and this thread in particular. Poole welcome back Kyle Newman, after his 7 points for Plymouth, but I still agree with those forecasting a close meeting. Weather aside, the track will be prepared very similar to Lakeside's so no real home advantage! Think it may depend on how PK and LB ride ??! A close home win!! Bagpuss
Weather aside, the track will be prepared very similar to Lakeside's so no real home advantage! Brilliant. Poole have as much home advantage as any in the EL and more than some. Put that with a very decent team and you get big home wins more often than not. If Poole are the reigning champions how come Josh, Shamek ,Newman and the cheque-book czech don't have winners medals to prove it? Greg Hancock has a Champions medal but he doesn't ride for Poole in 2015. A new competition has started to decide the vacant championship. That's the rules. 2014 Elite League Chapionship, not 2014/5 championship. Not just Poole, anybody. Go believing Poole are the reigning champs if you want but don't expect others to recognise them as such.

thecoombdog
All this talk about Poole not being the champions is utter nonsense. Its the most biased load of rubbish ive ever read. Its like saying Murray isnt the Wimbledon champ. Shovlar is full of biased Poole rubbish but at least that his team. Some people on here are as anti Poole as he is pro Poole which is pathetic considering they support other teams. Im not a Poole fan by the way before I get accused of being a blue tint. That's the rules. 2014 Elite League Chapionship, not 2014/5 championship. Not just Poole, anybody. I'll make this my last post on this subject, as I don't want to take the thread off track. You seem to be claiming there are no reigning champions, but does that mean Tai isn't the reigning World Champion? A reigning champion is defined in the Collins dictionary as: "the most recent winner of a competition, contest etc." That would be unequivocally Poole, whose name is on the trophy. Incidentally, Josh and Newman both rode in the final for Poole, and Pawlicki helped get them there. Go believing Poole are the reigning champs if you want but don't expect others to recognise them as such. If people don't agree with me, I can't say I'm particularly bothered, although several do seem to. You, on the other hand, claimed "only in blue rinse land" when I gave my opinion, so perhaps it is you who is rather arrogantly speaking for others? You're also quite wrong as I'm pretty sure neither Steve0, nor thecoombedog, will appreciate the blue tint you've given them.
