Nah, I am pretty sure you must be mistaken as I think I read back before the start of the season that the Monarchs team was looking a bit weak this year...

I never said they were weak think it was more along the lines off P*ss poor oops.

Congratulations to the Monarchs on a fine win, and a new club record for consecutive wins.
Very easy from the off. Devils were a shambles.
Cook only beat himself by jumping at the start of Ht1, as he pulled back, the ref let the tapes up. From 4th to 2nd by the time they got to the back straight. Made Barker work very hard for the win. Very fast and controlled, head and shoulders above everyone.
Some very strange refereeing decisions. Some real fliers from the gate were allowed to continue, while some were pulled back.
Ht6 was a bit of a farce. Kalle dived under Fox, daylight between them. Fox seemed unsettled and dropped it. Totally wrong exclusion. At exactly the same time as this was happening, Masters got in a pickle on turn 3, lifted and wobbled uncontrollably towards the fence, dropping it at turn 4. Fox had remounted by this time. Astonishingly a rerun was ordered with Kalle out. Completely wrong!
Roynon. looked like a 3pt NL rider. Poor effort from him, falling 3 times. When on B/W he was so desperate to get a point that he fenced Newman. Not sure how Newman stayed upright.
Simota.Crazy that he was given 4 rides, could and should have been replaced in Ht13. Doubt it would have made any difference, but would have been seen by the supporters as not giving up.
Jensen and Newman. They cannot seem to ride together at all. Last night, Kyle gated, looked over his right shoulder, saw Rasmus, and deliberately kept it very tight to the inside.Yet on bend 3 every time, Rasmus almost collected Kyles back wheel. Why doesnt Rasmus use the rest of the track? This happens week after week.Doesnt make sense.
Didnt understand why there was a reserve change in HT7. Simota was struggling and you change your stronger reserve for the weaker one. No offence intended to Morley. I know he has to have 3 rides, but that was the wrong move.
I agree with MikeyT and have said all season, the pairings are wrong. Jensen should be at No.5. Id now put Roynon at 2 with Barker. Kalle and Sam at 3-4.
Good to see a fair few Monarchs fans in attendance

Interesting review PC.

I have to say the team manager was very poor when Plymouth were at Peterborough recently if it's the same guy.

The manager is now in his 3rd season in charge and makes strange decisions time after time. Rarely do the reserves that have been scoring take 7 rides as he chooses instead to give riders that havnt been scoring 4 rides. This has happened several times this season home and away.

The riding order has also not worked in Plymouth's favour and should have been addressed within the first couple of meetings. The pairing of Newman and Jensen was ridiculous. Neither of them ever looking to team ride together and on more than 1 occasion they were lucky to avoid knocking each other off as they both seem to want to stick to the inside line.

Im afraid it was highly unlikely that Roynon was going to do much last night. I believe its been several years since he last rode at the SBA and due to him being dropped ,i would imagine his confidence was fairly low and will be even worse now. I do hope he quickly regains the form we know he is capable of but i just cant see that happening at the moment.

Was thinking just the same thing this morning. On a related note, what is happening regarding a stadium for following seasons?

But looking on the bright side, you forgot to say how well Ben and Rasmus are riding, but i'm sure you going to, can't believe if you are a true Devils supporter, you are going to be negative all the time, or are you, Former Devil.

I have never claimed to be a "true Devils supporter". I am and always have been a speedway fan. I don't support any team, I have favourite riders that I follow and I have been to the SBA most weeks since Plymouth reopened as it is my nearest track. I appreciate what a great racing circuit the SBA is, I have been to most tracks in the country and rarely see better racing, however, I pay my admission and feel I have the right to comment on what I see, just as everyone else is entitled to their opinion. As a neutral, I am perhaps not as biased towards Plymouth as many others though.

Just let the Monarchs promotion worry regarding how to run their business ,they are one of the longest serving Promotions in Speedway,a touch of the green eyed monster regarding a good Team IMO.

Nothing could be further from the truth. You have me totally wrong. Seems like I am not allowed to have any thoughts of my own now, am I?

As has blighted successful teams in the past, it causes some considerable strain on the finances and if my memory serves me correctly Edinburgh were not backward in coming forward in that respect a few years back. We'll just have to wait and see what transpires in this respect at the end of the season but I'll remember your derogatory comment if/when it happens. Oh, and by the way, I wasn't the first one to think it, was I 'montie'?

It is good to see former Rebels doing well with Justin and Sam returning in good form after their abscence from British speedway for a while.

Rather than having a misguided dig, it might have been more constructive to actually answer my question regarding the future of Edinburgh and their stadium. After all you as a Monarch fan you should be in a better position to update us. As a speedway fan in general as well as a Rebels fan, I would welcome some positive news on the future of the Monarchs as I would of any team.

The Rebels seems to be doing quite alright considering the major team overhaul. Perhaps if our two clubs continue their success through the Premier League campaign we can re-kindle the excitement of 2008 where you managed to pip us to the post.

Apologies to Devils fans for highjacking the thread with non-Devils discussion but it was 'Fromafar' who caused it. :nono::mad:

I agree, but why do you only come on the site when the Devils lose, as a neutral, and not biased like you say you are, maybe during the season you will come on when the team wins, and when the manager and the riders do something right, then maybe say so.

One or two injuries and it could all change, but after watching them on Saturday, i have to say, they are a very good side, but if one or two of there top riders get injured, then that could all change.
