Glasgow V Rye House Ko Cup Round 1 2nd Leg 11/5/14 @3p.m.

Recommended Posts

Now down to 5 rider's fit after Anders crash today reported that he has a suspected broken left ankle and with Dimitri still a minimum 4 weeks away from returning it is going pear shape regarding injuries , The second heavy shower after heat 8 really put paid to having any chance off completing the meeting it now means we can Re-group as it would have been difficult today with only 5 fit riders and at least a couple off heats with only one Tiger.

We can continue to use R/R for Dimitri and we can use Guest's for Anders albeit the scoring prowess will be reduced as Anders was looking really good still think we need one change in the middle order and if we can get Christian in then it is a change that is all the more important now as we cannot continue to carry passengers one good ride per meeting is not really good enough , Rusty & Theo looking really solid and Kevin is showing signs that he is not that far away his gating is still suspect but at least you are seeing improvement.

Rye can consider themselves unlucky as without the second heavy shower they would have been favourites to at least keep it close enough to make them favourites to progress now however as i stated we can now brush ourself's down and with a change in the middle order and a full team with R/R for Dimitri it is all to play for again when they can fit the Re-staging in is another matter however .

Rain saved us today . Why did we not name a number 8 at home when using r/r ? If this meeting had carried on then we would have to have raced heat 10 and 12 or 14 with only one rider . That's amateur stuff from Glasgow .

In answer to Fred , the track was unraceable in my opinion after the torrential shower before the start . After the delay to take Anders Thomsen to hospital , the whole time was dry and the track actually dried out pretty well . Heat 8 was as i described it in the updates , great race between three riders . After that the rain came battering down again as heavy as before the meeting and an abandonment was inevitable .

Rye will be unhappy as they looked the likliest winners with Glasgow's silly decision not to have a number 8 .

Paul, you and I are in 100% agreement - is this a first? lol

It looks as if Anders ankle is not broken but the worry is - does that mean there is other damage such as ligament? (spot the pessimist) He was certainly in a great deal of pain.

I've moaned about the lack of no 8 since we had to use r/r. Its ludicrous on so many counts not to have a no 8 as Glasgow nearly found out to their cost.

For the record I thought the track looked great today and held up well until that bleedin monsoon at heat 8

James McBain sitting in the stand instead of being ready to race ? If you use r/r then it's madness not to name a number 8 especially at home . With Anders crashing and having to withdraw then obviously Kasper would have to take his rides . Which leaves the r/r rides as a problem . Okay a number 8 might not score owt in the r/r rides , but ef's happen

ive said for a few years now all teams should have a number 8 if not when riding with a full 7 man team then certainly when using r/r

look at what happened to us in heat 1. If that happened to Rye House in heat 12........

And as you say, James was there as was his bike. Round Ashfield I'd fancy his chances against opposition reserve riders

The ref could have helped matters by pushing on the heats instead of dilly dallying. The forecast was poor, other than consecutive races for Lykke and Lemon its anyones guess why the heats weren't pushed on.

It turned out to be a costly afternoon with injury to Anders. Wolbert again spluttered to a halt in ht1 though we would never have won if the match continued.

News on the club website this morning that Anders has been released from hospital and has not broken his ankle will miss Scunthorpe on Friday but expects to be back on a bike for our home match with Worky next Sunday at least better news this morning regarding Anders.

You're not alone in this poor practice. The Monarchs when using r/r/ home & away, very rarely have a number 8 in place, which imo is sloppy penny pinching.

Hope Berge & Thomsen resume asap as they are the two riders who can really boost your team's performances this season.

Choices for Friday are pretty dreaful actually. There are a few NL games on too which restricts us even more. Looking down the list of eligible riders. Looking like Simon Lambert, Chris Mills, Simon Nielsen or Liam Carr. If none of them acept looking at NL rider

Look at comments on updates site below heat 15!!

What's wrong with them . It was describing the deterioration of the track caused by the heavy rain from when i got to the track at 2 , till we eventually got underway at 3-30 .
