speedwaysliders
I'm glad knowone takes any notice of robert72 Ryan Fisher hasn't begged from anyone!! I can see your point of wanting to help, and i do honestly feel for the fisher family,it cant be nice for them, but the problem surely is not about money, but getting the family back together again, surely a better way of doing it would be like fisher is trying to do and contact his local mp,or try and find someone in speedway, maybe a fan, maybe somone knows a specialist in dealing with these things, but i still cany understand what a collection for the fisher family is for.Surely he has the contacts to get his family to Poland,i know you have said he hasnt asked for donations, but theres already £2,000 plus been raised and more to come, dont you think that anymore is totally worthless, its better fans canvas mps or try and get experts on the case, rather then chuck more money in the pot.My problem is 1- SOME speedway fans would give there last £ to a collection without thought 2-The Fisher family more then anything want to be together and chucking MONEY into an endless pot isnt the right thing to do. 3 Fisher is not unemployed or near the bottom of the ladder, 4 Whats wrong with a simple best wishes card to the family, instead of money? As i said i like to look at this from both sides, something i think the speedway family IS NOT DOING Edited May 13, 2014 by speedwaysliders
Fromafar
What don't understand regarding all this fuss about collection to transport family to Poland, surely Fisher in his contract probably arranged for his Family Tickets to GB,so he should have money in "the kitty" I heard of his demands form other clubs and I can assure you he didn't leave these matters out of negotiations.By the same token if people want to donate it is up too them, but Personaly I think it is bit of a cheek to ask. Before anybody points out it want him,the fact is he obviously has no objections like a lot of riders when it comes to making collections. hulvik
over the years we have all put money in buckets at matchs be it for the BEN fund , St Johns or to help a rider (and their family) out when they have been injured or worse. If people want to support these causes that is up to them. As for Fish, being away from his loved ones must be having a toll on him mentally and this at some point could effect his riding. To know that he isn't going through this alone and the teams promotion and the fans are behind him during this difficult time must be good moral boost for him and give him that boost to try that bit harder when things look bleak for him. No doute some will say he will have made his families arrangements as part of his contract. But It would appear the the Fisher family have found themselve caught up in the same visa clamp down the effected other overseas riders this winter. wealdstone
From what I hear the reasons his family are not here are entirely down to him.
manchesterpaul
What you have to remember is that riders do it purely for our entertainment , so when one is sat at the pits gate asking for " any change mate " , have we , as fans , the moral fibre to say " no " ? Not this farcical claim again! NO they don't ride for our entertainment, no sportsman goes into sport purely to entertain people. They go into it because they like the sport and in speedway like all motorsports they are brave enough to enjoy the thrill of it. They don't grow up thinking i want to entertain people, they grow up wanting to participate in a sport. Please don't do as someone else did recently and retort on the lines of "oh well wonder what X's (deceased rider)" - R.I.P. family would say to that". I'm sure that none of the riders who get severely injured or pay the ultimate price went into the sport to entertain people no more than any footballer etc would. manchesterpaul
I think you might deserve a 'Wooooosh.....' here. Noooo! it a valid point - now where have i put me asbestos fire suit. Joking aside i make what is definitely a true point and stand by it for any and every sport. If you grow up wanting to entertain people well there are plenty of stages and Pantomimes out there. Paul ... dear, dear Paul. Gemini was trying to help you out by drawing your attention to the fact that Paulco's contribution had been one of pure sarcasm. I don't want to say 'lighten-up, for God's sake, Paul!' But you do seem to take others' posts a little bit too earnestly, to say the least.
coalman
Must say I agree with manchesterpaul it is their job. If people want to donate that's up to them but I think it's getting out of hand now.

No need to lighten up i'm well chilled. Must admit though i wasn't aware that Paulco's post was a jokey one (mind you many a time i've forgotten to add a smiley to clarify), i was quickly glancing through the thread maybe i didn't take in previous posts to that one and indeed i don't think i carried on past that page. I was just casually pointing out my dislike of this business you see everywhere of claims that sportspeople are doing it for the public's entertainment etc. I just presumed Gemini was saying my comment could ignite strong disagreement and i found her post quite funny, again no strong emotions or anything earnest, i just smiled and chuckled quietly to myself (ok i know the next stage is talking to oneself!). Incidentally, i notice that Gemini's and my own reply both had smileys attached. Not sure why you taking them so earnestly lol. Arson fire
From what I hear the reasons his family are not here are entirely down to him.whats the reasons then?? Didn't the fish used to plead poverty when at Edinburgh about the standard of his equipment etc?? Or am I mistaken?? And he started a new business not so long ago, so can't be short of a few quid.... Unless it's gone down the swanny?? Edited May 14, 2014 by Arson fire

I am reliably informed that it was stressed to him when he sorted his own visa out he must also do it for his family. For reasons unknown he did not seemingly follow this advice. crazyb
You would happily accept anything gem, people like you are why the sport is dying. I hear ryan fisher wants another collection to fly other family members on holiday, get your bucket ready gem,Only in Speedway lol Think you should really get your facts right. Fisher has spent over ten grand trying to get his family here (not on holiday)His words to me, not mine. Is robert72 your age, if so, you should be ashamed, but coming from Leicester, then the 72 must be your IQ, out of 1000!! I know when Jepsen Jensen was a young rider in Denmark, he was struggling to attract sponsors and funding for his speedway career so in the weekends while all his friends were out partying, He spent Saturday and Sunday digging out potatoes for the local farmer and in return, He got 200 Krone which equates to £20 in UK terms and he used that to fund his speedway career. Now he's earning silly money in Poland and Sweden (£600+ a point) yet he still chooses to help that same farmer in the Winter for his 200 Krone. So he gets £600 a meeting, or nothing Your right it's up to the fans if they want to give money but I just think it was bang out of order to even ask fans to pay for his wife's airfare to another country. How many times do you need telling, he didn't, Horton did

Nobody has mentioned how much the polish have contributed to the fisher family moving to Poland ? So you stick up for Americans but run down English people from Leicester, your not the brightest of people then.
