Grachan
as yours do me . since only a blind fool would not be able to see the bias is borne from the fact that you are married to an immigrant ,and seek to bring Her family , yes hers not yours into the uk , if you love Phillipinos that much that you want to live wqith the whole tribe , the bugger off and live in the Phillipines dont keep whining on how hard done by you are because you can't just bring them all here When have I said I want to bring a whole tribe of Filipinos to the UK? You've clearly made incorrect assumptions there. I'm not trying to bring anyone here. So, unlike Ryan Fisher, I'm not hard done by at all, and neither am I whining about it. No, really. I'm not. Honest. I have no desire at all to bring my immigrant wife's family here (Heaven forbid!! Why would I want to do that?). And even if I did want to I wouldn't be able to. You're just showing your ignorance there. So who are the real blind fools here? If I have an issue with the immigration rules it is that they stop other British people less fortunate with myself from being with their family. They are not stopping me because I'm lucky enough to earn enough money to be considered suitable. My initial post on this topic wasn't intended to be serious anyway. It was a follow on from posts others made in a similar vein. But I think you knew that really. Anyway, enough from me on here. I'm sure people don't want to see a personal spat between myself and the singer of Black Sabbath. That sort of thing should probably stay in General Discussions where it belongs. I just thought I'd respond because of your personal but inaccurate accusations. Edited May 12, 2014 by grachan
Brooksy
I just wonder if you have a Mortgage. Not really the same thing, is it? Unless Fisher is planning to pay it all back later.....with interest!
robert72
Agree with the soldiers part . If you want to donate money to Fish then you can do it but if you don't want to you don't have to. Your right it's up to the fans if they want to give money but I just think it was bang out of order to even ask fans to pay for his wife's airfare to another country. Grand Central
I'm just not clear on this... If his family had been allowed to return to the UK as 'normal' who would have paid for the fares? Why are the flights to Poland an 'extra' expense that need to be paid for by public donation? Surely the flights to Poland are a similar cost to the ones they were expecting/wanting to take to the UK, but haven't? . Grand Central
If it was for equipment or a new engine I would agree with you but I think it is a good idea what Mick has come up with. Fish has spent thousands on trying to get his family over here. Flights are not a extra expense Mick just come up with the idea to help Fisher's family out. Oh right. So, had he 'won' his case he wouldn't have had enough money left to get them over anyway?
Gemini
From what I can understand he had already paid for his family's air fares but as they were unable to come to the U.K. he couldn't get a refund. It's a pity Sandie doesn't come on here to clarify but she's probably too cheesed off that someone has even started this topic to bother.
screm
I know when Jepsen Jensen was a young rider in Denmark, he was struggling to attract sponsors and funding for his speedway career so in the weekends while all his friends were out partying, He spent Saturday and Sunday digging out potatoes for the local farmer and in return, He got 200 Krone which equates to £20 in UK terms and he used that to fund his speedway career. Now he's earning silly money in Poland and Sweden (£600+ a point) yet he still chooses to help that same farmer in the Winter for his 200 Krone. That's just about the funniest thing I`ve ever read on here.

For those of us who hold no negative feelings for the man or his family it is just this sort of detail that we need to fully understand this thread. I don't think anyone needs to have any animosity to those of us who have not kept up to date with all the facts of this case before. Perhaps just a simple clear statement as to the exact circumstances may have been helpful. . Edited May 12, 2014 by Grand Central
Gemini
Perhaps just a simple clear statement as to the exact circumstances may have been helpful. That should have been down to the person who started the thread, but it obviously didn't suit his agenda to give any details. Bit more information taken from the Peterborough website as they are holding their collection tomorrow night. PETERBOROUGH will be holding a collection for number one Ryan Fisher's family fund during their Premier League KO Cup first round, first leg clash against Scunthorpe at the East of England Showground tomorrow (Tuesday). The official Peterborough Panthers Speedway Supporters' Club (PPSSC) have already pledged a donation of £300 in a bid to help the American ace be reunited with his family. Fisher’s wife Daelyn and his children Abby Jo (7) and Harley (5) have been left stranded 5,000 miles away in California after being caught up in visa problems. They have been blocked from re-entering the United Kingdom until next January, but they have now been given the green light to base themselves in Poland for the remainder of the 2014 season. A collection at a recent meeting at Fisher's Elite League club, Coventry, raised close to £2,000 in donations from supporters and sponsors and club bosses are hopeful of another generous outlay from Panthers followers. Mick Horton, supremo of both clubs, said: "The collection received a great response at Coventry and I'm sure the fans at Peterborough will also give generously. "Fish is finding it incredibly tough being away from his family and we're doing all we can to help him." robert72
Sorry but a man who gets 3 wage packets plus runs a business shouldn't be begging off fans and neither should a promotor of a sport. How much has his polish club raised ? Would Horton give a fan of 30 years free tickets if he or she lost there job and fell on hard times ?

I have had a number of likes who agree The above quote is a prime example of someone who knows they have lost the argument and decides to let everyone else know as well. Jeez mate, don't you ever have a day off? Anyone would think that both Ryan Fisher and Mick Horton have come to you personally for the money. They haven't. So get over it. And get over yourself as well.

SCB
I just wonder if you have a Mortgage. Haha that's a different kettle of fish altogether. A mortgage is a necessity nowadays if you wish to own your own property, borrowing/receiving money to ride a bike is never a necessity unfortunately! Actually I think it's exactly the same. The feckless of the UK have taken out massive mortgages they cannot afford forcing up house prices for the rest of us and meaning the BOE have had to lower interest rates to pathetic levels. This means the sensible savers and people who live within their means are being screwed over to allow the financially illiterate to keep their homes. Darwin would be proud! Pandering to the weakest as the expense of the strongest.

Pandering to the weakest as the expense of the strongest. Actually I think you're wrong. Most of those 'feckless' people could afford their mortgages when they took them out - they'd be unlikely to get them otherwise. The problems started when the recession hit, people lost their jobs and were then unable to afford their existing mortgages. Nothing to do with being 'financially illiterate'. Could happen to anyone. Likewise, low interest rates are the result of recession and the need to encourage consumer spending rather than escalating house prices. But this is probably a debate for another day on a different forum. Let's stick to the speedway.
