Riders Begging Fans For Money

What about the real heroes who fight for Our country,they risk there life's to make ours safer,they are away from there families for months on end but get on with it. There families stay at home,kids go to school & daddy or mummy return when there stint abroad ends.

 

I think it's made the sport look a joke,it's embarrassing that a person who gets 3 pay packets from 3 teams plus his own business is happy to take money off supporters to pay airfares for his family to travel to another country.

 

I think it was wrong to do it and I am not alone.

What I don't understand is your defense of your indefensible position on this.

 

It doesn't matter a damn how many appeals there are. If you judge that they are worthy of your support donate, if you decide they aren't worth supporting - then ignore the Collection.

On the contrary I wouldn't accept anything and that's why I've only been to less than a dozen meetings since Leicester opened even though it's only up the road. £28 for both of us to watch gate and go speedway is not my idea of entertainment and even the other half has lost patience now. Not much point in keep going on about it though because it's all been repeated over and over again.

Riders make a living out of doing something which is their job. Helping a rider with sponsorship is all well and good but the ones that do plead poverty etc really annoy me. Fans are not in any way, shape or form required to give financial assistance any more than contributing to a rider's wages when they pay their entrance fee to get into a meeting. Anyone who thinks different or thinks they can be holier than thou because they do give money; reality check it's not so. If you can't afford to keep your kit running then you need to buy some kit that is within your price range or pack the sport in.

 

It is sickening to see people in this world living beyond their means and spending money that isn't theirs.

Haha that's a different kettle of fish altogether. A mortgage is a necessity nowadays if you wish to own your own property, borrowing/receiving money to ride a bike is never a necessity unfortunately!

I know when Jepsen Jensen was a young rider in Denmark, he was struggling to attract sponsors and funding for his speedway career so in the weekends while all his friends were out partying, He spent Saturday and Sunday digging out potatoes for the local farmer and in return, He got 200 Krone which equates to £20 in UK terms and he used that to fund his speedway career.

 

Now he's earning silly money in Poland and Sweden (£600+ a point) yet he still chooses to help that same farmer in the Winter for his 200 Krone.

If you're a self-employed contractor, as a Speedway rider is to all intents and purposes, you have to supply your own transport and materials to do your job however.
