Paulco
What you have to remember is that riders do it purely for our entertainment , so when one is sat at the pits gate asking for " any change mate " , have we , as fans , the moral fibre to say " no " ?
Pirate Nick
Can't see what the fuss is about. Appeal goes out you either give or you don't, nobody is twisting your arm. No harm in asking I always say.
ruffdiamond
I need four new tyres on my Skoda Fabia, any chance of some financial assistance from the lovely forum members? I'll give you a gallon of petrol and some matches, (not safety ones) ;-) I've just bought one of those four weeks ago Ray. Cracking car. When you count up your appeal amount - could I please have a share. Cheers Mate. 2 for 1 offer available, lol
bdjfan
If anyone wants to read the real story go to the main Peterborough Panthers web site and go into the News section. Ryan Fisher posted a statement on the 17th April. If they didn't come up with the move to Poland the only other option would be to wait until his wife & children could get new visas next January.
Daniel Smith
I couldn't care less where Fisher wants his family to live, or where rider's want to ride. I couldn't care less if a rider, promotion, club are making £100,000 profit or £100,000 losses. This is a sport I love and as long as a contribution is being made to my enjoyment of the sport I'm willing to chuck a few quid in here and there.
robert72
You don't have to contribute robert72 if you don't want to but these are the best Sportsman in the world and I have so much respect for them as for the Ryan Fisher collection I feel sorry for Fish and his family even Fisher's daughter wrote a thank you letter to the fans you can view the picture on Fisher's twitter account if you want to?. You have to remember this is a family miles apart. I know I could not handle my family being miles away and not seeing them do you agree fellow members? What about the real heroes who fight for Our country, they risk there life's to make ours safer, they are away from there families for months on end but get on with it. There families stay at home, kids go to school & daddy or mummy return when there stint abroad ends. I think it's made the sport look a joke,it's embarrassing that a person who gets 3 pay packets from 3 teams plus his own business is happy to take money off supporters to pay airfares for his family to travel to another country. I think it was wrong to do it and I am not alone.
SCB
You must admit, it is a bit odd that a rider who is a PL #1 and EL heat leader is being given cash by fans while some riders made do with just the single wage. That said, it's entirely up to each fan what they do or don't give - there are fans out there who sponsor riders just because they want to rather than for any commercial reason. Each to there own and all that.
ruffdiamond
it all seem's a bit sad when someone is missing their loved ones, while their too busy at work,,, earning and enjoying what they love doing,,, it's not like their getting dragged along, kicking and screaming not wanting to do it,,, MONEY, the root of n all that ;-( if ye don't like it, leave,,, there'll always be someone to fill your boots,,,

Ray Stadia
On the flip side, 6 years ago, I would have paid someone to send my ex to a 'far flung' land! But no, she is still here!

Collections for military personnel may well happen on a regular basis, you don't expect to see a Speedway related issue on a help for hero's forum, totally irrelevant statement from Robert72..... If you want to give, give..if you don't, don't... Simples.

robert72
You don't have to give if you don't want to and Fisher did not ask for a penny it was Mick Horton's idea. We are a Speedway family there are no clubs or riders without the fans and there are no fans without clubs or riders. It's not about giving or not giving it's wrong to ask fans in the first place to pay for a riders wife & kids to fly to another country, If fisher did Not ask for a collection then he needs to do the right thing and hand over the money to the riders ben fund. That wouldn't be the right thing to do at all. If people give money to help with something specific then that is how the money should be used. speedibee
Why scrap a thread that exposes the myth that riders are well paid; the majority are not and maintaining a speedway bike(s) is fairly expensive. Riders are well paid , some put the money back into their equipment , and some spend it enjoying themselves , it's up to the individual to assess whether their gift will be spent wisely or not So far i've paid 4 grand on visas to get my family in the uk. Oh shame . never mind you'll get your money back in benefits and off the NHS ,
Grachan
Oh shame . never mind you'll get your money back in benefits and off the NHS , I guess the phrase 'no recourse to public funds' is a bit too complicated for you to understand, so I'll forgive you for saying that.
speedibee
I guess the phrase 'no recourse to public funds' is a bit too complicated for you to understand, so I'll forgive you for saying that. oddly enough I have seen No recourse to public funds in action , the guy who owned the local shop brought his own parents and his wifes parents into the UK on the same deal . strange thing was both his father and father in law were struck down with diabetes within months and were too Ill to travel , so the whole lot had to stay here , all living on benefits and being treated by the NHS . and thanks for your offer of forgiveness , but I have no need fo it , being born and raised in a democratic country gives me the right to an opinion on anything i choose , if you dont like my opinion thats tough you'll just have to put up with it I'm afraid , I certainly dont need your Approval or forgiveness for any opinion I hold . maybe democracy is a little too complicated for you to understand Edited May 10, 2014 by speedibee
