Newcastle Drop Rosen....

Recommended Posts

i hear mala douglas is doing a 2nd half having borrowed mcgreevys old leathers?? :)

Not even with a shoe horn, axle grease and baby oil.

King will drop 1.5 or 2 points of his average and he'll swap Schramm for a 5.5 or a 6 point rider, Claes?

Putting Rose back at reserve with whichever 3.00 rider we have.

Would have Claes back in an instant.

well I just hope all Newcastle fans don't expect miracles on sunday.. I do think we'll beat p/boro as we would'v with the team of last week lets get behind young Nathan graves..i wonder what num George will put schrammbo at.. and i'm sure clarkia will name danny the ( king of diamonds }

Just hoping we don't get an Elvis rendition when he wins ! Esp inappropriate given Henry's affiliations and sponsorship.

Non speedway supporters don't understand how riders can ride for different clubs in different countries, their heads almost explode when you tell them that they can ride for three different clubs in THIS country. :o:cheers:

Oh so true. On trying to explain this, Gobsmacked is the only word which truly sums up their reaction.

oh dear the analogy police will be after you for that one but to continue it, the grocer doesn't stop you from buying both an apple and an orange because that wouldn't be good for his business.

The rules must allow assessed riders to double up because that is exactly what Lewis Rose is doing. Is he not?

Fast track riders not classed as d/u.

Of course if you wish to say they should be then you cant use Lambert as each EL team is only allowed 2 thus making him inelligle unless Lynn drop Rose or Kerr!

no not just saying it because it's my team... But it highlights how narrow minded the set up is geared towards young Brits.... Wed rather just have them as cannon fodder with a few protected races in the EL....

dont doubt your principles at all Arson. I believe you do have a genuine desire that it is to help a young Brit as opposed to just benefit Newcastle.

I agree that any young Brit should be abke to d/u although now that Lambert has started in the EL it should be on his converted average.

Rose is still 3.00 for a few more days.

Also think thats a piss poor team.

this is where the regs get murky (again!) Im pretty sure (not certain just something sticking in the back of my mind) that were an assessesd rider has not ridden enough meetings at a cut off point or at the time of a redeclaration there is a provision to award a new average regardless.

Not got time to re read the regs just now but if I am right then Newcastle are lucky the MC chose not to do so or Blobbys calculator would have been right.

maybe what they shoulda done, was,,, have Lambert as a fast-track reserve, along with Rose,,, and used Kerr as their double-uperer, (from his previous seasons average),,, hindsight is marvellous

is there not time to get these changes in place before deadline ???

While changes were needed and the boldness must be applauded I think this makes us weaker especially with schramm or rose in the main body of the team. Would like George to come out and explain the thinking behind it

I`m sure he will at your meeting tomorrow.

could be rained off :-(

Lambert refused the fast track offer. No doubt he had had more than one EL offer to ride in a top five so why would he agree to £40 per point?

maybe that decision turn's out to be a 'hasty' one now,,, but youthfulness does'nt come with experience :-(

Don't see why, he is probably earning much more being in a top five as well as learning much quicker. I think riding in the PL would have done him a lot of good also but it makes me wonder why he was prepared to sign for a Sunday PL club and presumably drop his German meetings just like that. Perhaps the Germans aren't happy that he has committed to the British U21 set up after all?

Stupid rule I agree. It's why Ellis couldn't double up at Lakeside and Kerr at Coventry among others.

This one does make me sort of agree with Lambert that the BSPA are screwing him over. I know it's the rule but it's a stupid rule and IMO it should be dropped instantly. Let the lad double up. By doubling up at Newcastle you have to fancy he is committing to British speedway (now his GCSEs are over? As I assume they are about now) and cutting out a lot of the German stuff as Newcastle are a Sunday track.

C'mon the BSPA, do the right thing for once!

Can't agree at all.

You can't just change a rule like that mid-season (although this is speedway). Other clubs may well have been interested in Lambert had signing him been allowed.

By all means change it for next season, but not mid-season.

Are the Diamonds any stronger really with this change around??

Had the Lambert signing come off then there`s no doubt that Newcastle would've been stronger, with Greaves at reserve though don't look as strong, maybe they will bring in a new reserve after this weekend.

A few fans were wanting an 'out and out' number 1. They have got that.

The only way that that was going to happen was drop 2 riders and bring in that 'out and out' number 1 and a 3 pointer.

Of course if you wish to say they should be then you cant use Lambert as each EL team is only allowed 2 thus making him inelligle unless Lynn drop Rose or Kerr!

Another technicality which may or may not be specified within a rulebook.

The reality is that Lewis Rose (and now Nathan Greaves) is allowed to ride and importantly earn money in both the Premier and Elite League whilst not having achieved an average previously.

Yet Robert Lambert who had also not previously achieved an average is prohibited from riding in both leagues because he has chosen to not accept a fast track place.

So a young British prospect shows ambition and self belief (essentially qualities for any successful sports person) and his national association restrict him from gaining experience and income.

The protagonist in me would urge Newcastle to include Lambert, forcing the BSPA to amend every result, to illustrate the farcical d/up/fast track situation.
