Swedish Elitserien 2014, Round 1

Your having a laugh?

Tatum and Peircing was half the reason why we decided not to renew our Sky subscription this year!

The other reasons were lousy (slick?)presentation, padding and rubbish racing with the same old faces.

And what with that female muppet in the pits asking the usual question `how much does it mean to you.....`

Jack has been commentating on bikes for years and is a pro,the Sky idiots are NOT!!!

Really? Bloody hell! Well maybe he knows about bike racing but wouldn't it be a pre requisite to learn something about the sport you've been told to commentate on? I'm all for excitement but naivity and not knowing riders names is pretty basic.

If you can look beyond the awful commentary, it was good to see some league racing from another country. The crowd looked pretty poor, is this the norm for swedish league matches. A big well done to eurosport for showing us some different speedway from the usual EL and GP coverage.

I agree %, and no SCREAMING!!!!!

And you would prefer those idiots from Sky then?

some people.................

Who wants pit interviews by a person clearly know nothing about Speedway even though she has been there for 2-3 yrs asking the same old dross.

Dont like it? Switch off,

I thought it was great not having my ears ringing at the end!!

At least Nigel and Kelvin know which riders are taking part - or are even in the stadium!!!

I wonder how much the 'top riders' are getting paid in Sweden, cos there's no way with crowds that low that it can be sustainable!!

For Dackarna that is about 1200 less then last years average.

Obviously I don't have access to the teams budgets but normally an average around 2000-2500 spectators is needed to make it break even since most teams also have allot of sponsors.

I quite enjoy the commentary on the Bet365 stream. There is none!

Just the sound of the bikes and the tracks own announcer telling me who is riding next.

I don't need anyone to tell me what's happening in front of me-I can see it.

The other reasons were lousy (slick?)presentation, padding and rubbish racing with the same old faces.

Sky's presentation of the EL knocks the Swedish feed that was taken last night into a cocked hat, as does the Polish coverage I watch online on Sunday's.

I've watched 5 meetings in the last 5 days in 4 different Leagues and the NL and EL matches that I attended in the UK were far more entertaining than either Falubaz V Torun on Sunday and the Swedish drivel that I watched last night.

The presence of multiple 'work shy' mercenaries does not a good meeting make!

I think the real issue that I have with Swedish speedway is that the riders and crowd seem so emotionally detached from the teams that they represent / support.

Sure the team line ups are packed with stars, but you get the impression that nobody really cares who wins or loses, which is certainly not the case in the UK or Poland.

Having these superstar line ups is all well and good, but team speedway is almost always better when you have a 1-7 comprising riders of varying degrees of quality.

I thought it was very simple but very good coverage. Was nice to see the difference in how they do it over there. Ran smoother & was more competitve then an EL meeting IMO. I like Tatum and Pearson but the lower key commentary was nice. Ermo was one of my heros as a kid but maybe Eurosport should look to getting Dave Norris in, he was great on the mic. Dont miss the pit interviews, they are pretty pointless and although shes very easy on the eye Charlie is bloody useless. Did anyone see her presnt the Klitchko fight the other week? Oh dear oh dear...

The inability of the commentators to string together a sentence of correct information was so distracting that is almost dampened my excitement of being able to watch live speedway on a Tuesday night on my TV

AND

the opportunity to kick out my lazy kids from the front room and their endless repeats of Friends.

It wasn't too long (heat 4 and after a lot of groaning and swearing) before I realised that I have never wished for a commentator at a live meeting because I can see for myself what is going on. So I turned the sound down.

Unfortunately I can't then hear the bikes. It would be great to have a red button type thing to get rid of the 'orrible voices

For those who are criticizing or writing off the the lack of 'excitement' of Elitserien on this first Eurosport broadcast surely you must be able to take into account the weather and track conditions which also affected the crowd levels. I suggest you hunt down some You Tube clips of how excited the Swedish fans can get and ALSO the riders. can't remember who it was now but there was a prolonged ecstatic celebration from one particular rider towards the end of last season.

First match of the season, miserable weather all day and a bad forecast, how many UK tracks would be bursting to the seams with joyous fans celebrating wildly all evening?

the innovation I meant was the static that obscured the two imbeciles in the commentary box :)

and both Jack and Sam did indeed shout in several races so what's the difference?

And yes I do prefer the two idiots from SKY

Jack is indeed knowledgeable about motorsport but is a truly awful speedway commentator.

The coverage is the same as previous years and Eurosport have just taken over from Premier.

There are pit interviews which are conducted quite well but not in English and you can see them on the Polish coverage. It's better than SKY coverage as SKys interviews are generally pathetic with that stupid woman.

Swedish meets are generally exciting and worth watching.

Good to see coverage continuing.
