Bagpuss
Doubt if Monarchs will be in that position to strengthen further prior to the Play Offs, should they even finish in the top six.
Mr Blobby
We are waiting until the dark lord puts sneddons average up to a 6 come play-off time then we will bring in wee joe tabaka. then we will be laughing. TheScotsman
Yep if Wee Joe could come back in then we might have a chance. I fear Stevie is going to suffer burn-out sooner rather than later. His schedule is just insane.
EC Rides Again
A very entertaining meeting. Scunthorpe gave the Monarchs too much of a head start, but this Edinburgh side are going to take some stopping in the next few weeks. Will they still be the team to beat come play-off time ? Shame that Klindt couldn't sign in time for today. The R/R and guests have not been adequate cover for Mellgren, sorry to say. I hope that Ashley Birks can kick on from a good last ride, he looks like he needs a boost. Jorgy looked tired in his sixth ride (tyre "gone"?) - one of the disadvantages of R/R is the wear and tear on man and machine from the extra rides the others take, plus Matt W. is only taking 3 of his rides each meeting. I'm afraid that carrying Matt at the moment isn't helping the team get results either. Edited May 5, 2014 by EC Rides Again
eric i
Jorgensen's bike seem a bit slow, he rides the right lines but doesn't seem to get the same speed as Auty and Douglas. As for Matt Williamson I do think he shows promise but how long can Scunny afford to give him?

As for Matt Williamson I do think he shows promise but how long can Scunny afford to give him? Matt's ride to beat Sneddon was terrific, but one point a meeting just doesn't cut it. I think he will develop into a decent rider, but just like Josh Bates last year the Scorpions have got someone a year too early.
lucifer sam
Good meeting yesterday; not as good as Scunny vs Plymouth the week before, but still contained some good racing. I felt Scunny lost it at the beginning rather than the end - you can't give a team like Edinburgh a head start. Although Scunny edged back in front, with Cook out in 3 out of the last 5, Edinburgh had the advantage at the end. Scunny needed a points cushion after 10 races; that was never going to happen at 4-14 down after 3 races. R/R scored 3 paid 4 yesterday, including the TR! Nicolai Klindt will do much better than that. All the best Rob
thebaron
A hard meeting this; Monarchs arriving unbeaten and with arguably the PL No1 rider in Cook. Giving away 10pts by Heat 6 made it really hard; yet we managed to claw it back and go in front by a point 37-36 by Heat 12. So credit where its due to the lads for that. Heat 13 was a joke! seems now you can take a flyer; duck the tapes and be away without so much as 'by your leave' from the Ref. It so obviously needed to be re-started; but Cook was allowed to jet away like a 'Monarch airliner' for a 4-2 with relatively subdued Sam Masters. Heat 14 was a crucial one; Ashley Birks did superb to round Monarchs captain Sneddon on the third lap - best ride of the day for the Scorpions skipper, but it was frustrating to see Jorgensen loose out to Steve Worrall for third. With Cook out in Heat 15 that point was going to be vital. Needless to say the Monarchs rounded the job off 5-1 in the last. Not getting down about this defeat; it will not decided the season for either team. With Klindt on the way for 28 days(possibly longer) and hope that Anders Mellgren may make an incredibly early return from his injury the Scorpions will be stronger. Thought David Howe had a good competitive afternoons racing; and Ryan is the real deal having made the jump from reserve. Tommy will be a strong reserve; but probably will not hit the big scores that Ryan has. If Klindt does well as I think he will and Mellgren back; there might be a decision to be make. Matt Williamson rode well to beat Monarchs captain Derek Sneddon in Heat 7. Matts got technique and knows how to ride a safe; tidy line round the EWR, so in keeping with the clubs supporting young British talent it would be nice if Matt got the time to develop.
