CardinalSin
Newcastle will probably be thinking it's the worst possible time to be visiting Suffolk after our humiliation at Somerset. Fully expecting some sort of response from the Ipswich boys on Monday who will have a point to prove, and a reputation repair job to do. Looks like a decent day weather wise, and an unwelcome warm one judging by this mornings forecast... Anyone know if that new shale that was supposed to be delivered has turned up yet? dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Or they could be thinking its the best time against a team that could be low on confidence and knowing that they capitulated in their last day meeting. The meeting therefore may be won or lost in the heads of the teams as much as any other factor IMO. For the Witches I think this has dual importance. The result is important to steady the ship so to speak. Another defeat could see a downward spiral set in. The spectacle is also important in respect of crowd levels for the rest of the season. As with any Bank Holiday meeting it attracts those 'part timers' and families that also may attend during the high summer and school holiday weeks. Another blue groove borefest like Good Friday will significantly reduce how many return. I think it will be close but its time to be positive - Witches by 4. CardinalSin
Nah I fully expect a big performance tomorrow but we'll see. Agree about the spectacle, it HAS to be better than Good Friday and I'm sure Louis knows that. TBF he did acknowledge in the press that the supporters were short changed and they got track prep badly wrong so let's give him the benefit of the doubt and see what's produced tomorrow.
Emma T
Witches to shave this one just, Newcastle should be good enough to pick up a point though.
Super Blue
I'm seriously debating whether it's actually worth going tomorrow, the team must be mega down confidence wise and the track is pretty much guaranteed to be awful, personally I don't recall the last time I saw a decent track for an afternoon meeting ( perhaps I have a short memory but that's how it seems to me!) I'm afraid I can see not much occurring apart from another Good Friday repeat.
Siggytastic
I know there are loads of factors to take into consideration when preparing the track but we have had a Good Friday afternoon meeting every year since the speedway (no doubt I will be corrected if we haven't) reopened so surely some lessons have been learn't over the years about day time meetings track prep? I think we will nick all the league points on monday.
2ndbendbeerhut
Personally I think it's make or break on Monday. Another loss and or poor meeting and the numbers will dwindle for the rest of the season. Win and or a good meeting can keep the fans and maybe gain some new ones. Hoping for the 2nd but fear it will be the 1st 😐
Baldyman
I think the only difference between this meeting and the good Friday meeting will be the track. This time it will be over watered before the meeting and the first 3 or 4 races will be very slippery. Apart from that it will still be more or less non existent racing, an away win, and people going home disappointed. The only reason there is a meeting on bank holidays is so that the promoters can make some money to cover other meetings when the crowd is smaller and they probably don't make any money. I fear another loss and after that the crowds dropping even more, and let's be honest, they haven't been great on a Thursday so far this season. Emma T
Well if they over water the track Baldy and you propose to walk it before the meeting bring your wellington boots! Let's hope Chris drums it into the riders that they have to perform as I hear there is a 'fans forum' afterwards and if the Witches lose it could get very interesting? Super Blue
Problem is that more water on no material on the track ain't going to make a sh1ts worth of difference, the racing will still be shocking! It will be gate and go and that's not something we've been great at yet this season.
BluPanther
Diamonds could well win this unless the Witches get their act together. Another crap track and i shall be staying away until it's put right, there is no valid excuse for it imo..
2ndbendbeerhut
Track will not be helped by there being stock cars at foxhall either today or yesterday. As a matter of interest can anyone remember a good afternoon meeting? Edited May 4, 2014 by 2ndbendbeerhut
Baldyman
I'm sure there was a good one against lakeside once in blistering sunshine.

Siggytastic
Can remember the mighty TG scraping the fence when going round Leigh Adams and someone else to get a draw against Kings Lynn.
CardinalSin
There was a cracker against Leicester the year before last. Not sure if it was Good Friday or the Bank Holiday Monday meeting but I remember it being very very good.

Come to think of it Gollob always loved the outside line and his era was probably when we last actually had one .
