Rye House V Peterborough 4th May

Recommended Posts

I remember at least 5 days before the Rockets had a meeting at Hoddesdon people would be posting their predictions. With two days to tapes up, no one has even bothered to start a post, so Stummo has decided to.

With Peterborough’s blip both at home and away to Rye earlier on in the season I can’t really see the Panthers being as poor as they were.

I’m amazed that changes haven’t been made. Although Simon Lambert did ride well at Poole on Tuesday according to BBC WM. Well worth a listen to them when either Brum or Wolves are racing. I genuinely feel sorry for Lambert, but with riders out there Nielsen and Morley to name a few why we haven’t had changes is beyond me. Latest press release has the same seven on Sunday which will either bite Dames Hinge [Len Silver] & Bracket [John Sampford] on the bum or have them saying we told you so or the usual lame excuses. When Hinge & Bracket do make changes both of these riders will probably be signed by another PL club.

I have to say I was impressed with the Panthers on the Sky on Tuesday. Greenwood who rode well for Rye on a guest appearance last year looked very impressive and can see him scoring a few. We all know on paper Panthers have a very strong look about them.

I Think Rye will have a tough meeting on their hands here. If Bunyan, Garrity and Lambert ride as they have done then it has to be a Panthers win. However if the team ride and score points then perhaps Rye can get one over the Panthers.

Not sure if its general apathy or just disappointment that no changes have taken place. With the lineup we got everyone need to be on their game. For me four of the seven are above criticism at the moment but the two Jason's and Simon Lambert have been poor. I don't think Peterborough are that great and had the luck on tuesday night been equally divided Newcastle would have got something. I expect us to win but at the end of the day changes still need to be made and i don't mean just outing Lambert as a scapegoat things run deeper than that

Panthers to do much better than lose by 6 points and qualify for the semi finals. :t:

Wouldn't be surprised to see a Panthers win here with the lack lustre rockets on a downward spiral with an uncompetitive lambert and bunyan and a uninterested garrity in the side.....

The new averages show the wisdom of dropping some decent riders to fit in a 10 1/2 point rider that was always going to drop a point but has in fact dropped 2 points. What they don't show, due to rolling averages and the 3 point minimum, is that Simon Lambert is scoring a gnat's over 1 point per meeting. Adam Roynon could replace any of the 5 pointers and my choice, on attitude alone, would be Jason Garrity.

I can see this being a lot closer than the challenge match earlier especially with Bowen up into the team and Bunyan now back from the GP's

Panthers were missing Blackbird and Jacobs last time and it was Dryml's first look at the track, after Wednesdays British SF I expect both the young Brits to score well, certainly more than RR and Danny Philips got us last time.

Plus the bonus that I wont be wasting my money on the fish and chips this time around.

I think the apathy stems from three things. First we are out of this competition. Second the team desperately needs changing if it is to be competitive and third there is a knock in from a lack of success year after year.

Now the new green sheets are out and Eddie has a true average the promotion must make changes. JG was out most of last season and was always going to take time to find his feet. He is class when on form and it would be stupid to lose him. Royon and Nielsen ( or even nelson) if he has sorted his visa for lambert and Bunyan are no brainers.

Stefan Neilsen rode really well at Ryehouse on Wednesday. I agree with Rockets that we should try to bring him in and also Roynon if the averages allow. our promotion are always slow to make team changes. This is not always a bad thing, but the good potential of this year's team is going pear shaped fast if we don't make at least one change pronto. Garrity is far too good to let go, he's off the pace but was out for most of last year. He'll come right soon and being at reserve will do him good. We've been here before with Lambert.

Peterborough will be hard to beat tomorrow. blackbird looked very strong at Rye on Wednesday. I saw us beat them away first match this season but they seem like a different proposition now.

Hope we get a good crowd at least, and a bit of atmosphere.

Strange but it almost seemed a much more comfortable win than the final margin.

Track not bad to start with but don't understand why it was nt graded around heats 10 or 11 as it just got slicker and slicker.

For panthers bjerre is realising that potential he showed in his debut season and Oliver greenwood again showed what a good prospect he is. Ulrich deserved more points for his efforts. Fisher looked out of sorts and very lucky to escape serious injury on a nasty looking crash.

For us Eddie and Boxalls look very good and a very welcome return to form for JG. I really do think people have overlooked the need to get himself race fit after so much time out last year. Luke looked a little subdued and tress did what is expected of him.

Now our problems. Lambert. I can only assume Len was waiting for the green sheets. And Bunyan . A few little spats in the crowd over this one. It would seem Jason is still riding with a broken rib. Clearly not on the pace today. Only from a personal point of view whilst his bravery is to be admired I'm not sure it helps him as a rider or us as a team.

Decent crowd. So far as I am aware neither the beer or chips ran dry.

Difficult to argue with a single word of that :approve: We were questioning why the track was watered but not graded.

Not really a lot to grade though was there as it was quite slick, I thought they just about watered it enough to avoid the dust but I accept it's notoriously difficult for a sunny afternoon match.

I did think Panthers would be closer but problems throughout didn't help.

That's very fair comment :approve:

They did grade to start , though, and I wondered why they stopped.
