NeilWatson
Yes as I found out. Not too many alterations though and at least it was better than being in alphabetical order and no Kent team announced at all. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the complete mess up by Peter York regarding the winner of the Bronze Helmet. I can get confused enough without him helping matters as he definitely said Lambert had chosen to take the outside gate, but in actual fact he lined up in red on the inside. Unfortunately Peter still carried on thinking it was Lambert in white so announced the winner of the Helmet as James Sarjeant when he came round to collect his 'prize.' Oh dear. The match itself was a bit one sided but there was still some good racing with passing in all but five of the heats. Luke Crang was very impressive and has certainly shown a great deal of improvement lately. Well done to all the lads on both sides. Simon was in red in the outside gate, Gemini, James in white from the inside. Simon won!
Gemini
Thanks Neil. I can't see that far from the back straight. So Peter was right about him choosing the outside gate but wrong in saying he was in white. It's just a shame someone couldn't have whispered in his ear before the end of the race so he didn't carry on thinking James had won. Thank goodness for David Hammond. markyb
Shame for Luke in heat 15. Thought Morley had a bit of a flyer and could have been brought back - (but not as much of a flyer as a charged up Sarjeant in an earlier heat after the starting Marshall got him to shift his bike across the gate - that not brought back either) Reckon too that Luke put down to avoid the out of shape Morley on bend 3 too - but that just my opinion. Team spirit seems great. . RTD coming round to give Sarj a lift back to the pits plus Knuckey coming out to see how the unfortunate Nielsen was after his bounce off the fence. Good on you lads! Keep up the great work. Have to agree as well with the earlier comment about the pace of the night. All over by 9.20pm and that even after RTD trying out a bike and then the Bronze helmet match race. Well run meeting. By the way, which bar can I get a pint of the stuff which Yorkie must have been drinking ? Losing it or what !!
greyhoundp
I for one never thought Kent were ever likely to take a point, providing The Storm riders rode to form, reasons being, Coventry are a strong team, Kent track is vastly different to Brandon, and Brandon Freemantle needed to be on top form for The Kings to even ###### a point (and at the moment he isnt). However Kent should make the Play Offs, but it will be tight come seasons end, with a number of teams battling it out for the 3rd & 4th place positions, namely Kent, Mildenhall, Young Stars and Stoke. There are 2 Teams for me that are ahead of the others at the moment, namely Storm & Cradley. Edited May 3, 2014 by greyhoundp

houdi
Thanks Neil. I can't see that far from the back straight. As some one alluded to last night,it takes a special talent to call a 2 man race wrong, and then to compound that folly by continuing to call it wrong after the announcer had clearly called out the result. So as Peter York himself might say,'date sell past well buy his. Aside from that a decent meeting,JS rode extremely well ,but the one rider who has made great strides of late is Crang, who if he can keep this progress up looks a decent prospect for the future. Agree that Cradley and Storm are ahead of others at the moment.Kent would not beat either over 2 legs and I think they will need a couple of changes long term to have a chance in end of season play-offs. Alas not for I won't be at Coventry on Monday "CB252" as I'll be travelling from here to Sittingbourne and back (more than likely by cab to Dartford station and public transport including the dreaded 'bus replacement service' for part of the rail journey) to announce at the Kent CTA FIRE Kings home National League match against Mildenhall. Bryn, do you know if the Club are doing/done anything about the sound system. We could NOT hear you last meeting and it is something that is/becoming a big problem. Kent Whistle Gang
Scoreline flatters Kings. Coventry looked so much stronger and were unlucky not to get to 60 points. Simon Lambert & Benji Compton well below par. David Mason very pedestrian. Luke Chessell still down on confidence. Brandon Freemantle took more dust baths. Only Ben Morley and Luke Harris looked up for it. Riders of the night Luke Crang and James Sarjeant in that order. RTD looking more the real deal these days. Mixed feelings about the Bronze Helmet; why couldn't Lambert have ridden like that during the match? Islander15
Coventry have ridden 4 meetings now and I make their averages (including bonus points in brackets): Nielsen 7.76 (9.41) Crang 7.37 (8.42) O. Greenwood 6.89 [only done 3 meetings] D. Greenwood 7.53 (9.41) Sarjeant 9.11 (9.11) Terry-Daley 5.71 (7.05) Knuckey 3.00 (3.43) Edited May 5, 2014 by Islander15

To be fair to Chessell he rode very well at Stoke and was the difference in the scoreline wit Compton ruled out
