Plymouth Vs Panthers Lc - 2nd May 2014

Recommended Posts

Huge fixture for both clubs as we reach the climax stage of the League Cup group stages and the Panthers need 1 point from their last 2 away fixtures in order to cement their semi-final spot.

A tough fixture on Sunday at Rye House awaits the Panthers so preferrably they will be looking to cement their qualification at the home of the Devils.

The Panthers will need Lewis Blackbird and the reserves to come to the party as they struggled at Workington and Glasgow and we are back into the sudden-death format which is the League Cup.

It's not like the league where you can lose a few matches and nobody really minds, lose this and our cup hopes could well be over.

Edit: Just noticed we are missing Lasse and Ulrich, R/R for Bjerre and Boxall in for Ulrich makes us significantly weaker, looks like our league cup hopes will end due to a shocking fixture clash.

If they end it'll be due more to losing at home to RH. Panthers away are always hit and miss, mostly miss, moreso by the looks of it in 2014 due to the difficulty in getting our strongest 1-7 out.

Agreed. Far too accommodating to Rye House, particularly as we read all about how we aren't making the same mistake as last year and going in cold.

By the way, this fixture IS actually in Devon... ;)

praying for rain.......! :t:

Why? I know missing Ulrich and Lasse is a blow but they are missing Newman and Rasmus. Lasse is number 2 in averages now so all can take a ride.

Race on another Friday and we would be missing the Fish no doubt.

Great win from the Lads yesterday, can go into Sunday now with no pressure which can only help. Think we can sneak another win aswell, but Garrity will come good soon, and at reserve, could have another Kalle on our hands.

Well done to the Panthers, they deserved the win.

A couple of points to mention.

Ht1. Rather harsh on Fisher to be excluded. he was in front, and used the same line that Barker uses every week, in tight and drift out wide to exit the turn.Barker, for some reason decided to stay wide. As he tried cut back, he clipped Fisher.

Ht3. Wrong exclusion! Blackbird, out wide, rode in a straight line for too long, leaving Garrity on his outside no chance of turning. Blind side of referee, so to be expected.

Ht15. What a ride from Fisher! Disagree with live updates here.Barker inside, Katajisto outside entered turn 3 side by side. Fisher sees a small gap between them, and goes for it. I stand between turns 3 and 4 and genuinely thought, 'this has to be millimetre perfect or its going to be carnage'. Thankfully, he got it spot on as he rounded Barker, but went inside Katajisto in one move. Barker was visibly shaken and still seemed angry after the race finished

Please don't get me wrong, I cant stand Fisher. I have criticised him on here many times for poor/dangerous riding. So its only fair to give him the thumbs up when he gets it right. Impressed by Blackbird. R/R worked in Panthers favour, as I doubt that Bjerre would have scored 11, but confident Jensen would have scored more than 5

Rather strange statement from Ashley Taylor while doing the 50/50 draw. Why oh why say that 'once the new green sheets come into effect on Saturday, there is a possibility of a change in the team'? Maybe there is, but until its fully sanctioned and the ink dry on the paperwork, surely it would be better not to say anything? Even if the rider(s) concerned were aware, its not good PR, imo.

Ben Reade. I do wish people would leave the guy alone. He is doing his best. Like Smart at Poole, he is a confidence rider. He needs to be riding regularly at NL level to get some wins. Lack of NL home meetings will probably cost him his place.Despite what other might say and think, I find it sad that rider pays the price for the Promoters getting the NL fixtures so wrong. Whatever happens Ben, best wishes for the future, and we will be there cheering you on for the Demons.

Apologies, we can only go on what we are told. I spoke to someone at the track afterwards who said heat 15 was a belter. None the less the result was correct, although not what I wanted, so that will do for me :D

Probably because he was pressed by the announcer who was interviewing him?

Even so, he was unspecific as you rightly say he should have been.
