Speedball
Stars skipper Rory Schlein is attempting to raise £10,000 for Breast Cancer Care (full details below). As one of the thousands of families who have had loved ones diagnosed with breast cancer, he has my full support and hopefully the support of the rest of the speedway community as well. Good luck Rory, I hope you smash your target. ---------------- Taken from http://www.roryschlein.com/rory-takes-on-10000-challenge/ International Speedway rider and captain of the Kings Lynn Stars Rory Schlein has set a target of £10,000 to raise for Breast Cancer Care by the end of the current season. The popular racer has decided to let his beard and hair grow until the last home Kings Lynn Stars meeting of the season against Swindon on August 27th, 2014, then it will be shaved off during the interval. Ahead of the challenge, Rory said: Breast Cancer Care is a great charity and one I am keen to help by using my profile within the speedway world. My friend and mechanic Lee sadly lost his sister to the disease recently and to be honest, it knocked me back a bit and made me think I want to help. We have got lots of things planned during the season and I hope, with your help, we reach the target of £10,000. There are plenty of ways to get involved with Rorys challenge. Special pink Shave The Roo wristbands will be available soon at tracks around the country and can also be purchased via his website. A range of merchandise will also be available soon with all profits going to the Shave The Roo challenge. On July 16, Kings Lynn Speedway have agreed to turn the Norfolk Arena pink for the night with fans urged to dress in pink to support Rory challenge. The Stars will be wearing special one-off race jackets which will be auctioned off to help raise funds. Every 10 minutes someone in the UK hears the devastating news that they have breast cancer. Star Lady
Thought this thread was worthy of a bump up the list Unlike some threads fulll of nonsense that habitually occupy the new post territory
Bryce
Well done to Rory for this. A very worthy cause. If everyone who reads this forum buys a wristband, that alone would raise a tidy sum. Good too, to see the Kings Lynn club giving such excellent backing to Rory's challenge.
