scotchopper
Monarchs heading down to a league match at the showground for the first time in a good few years. Really looking forward to this especially with our old friend ryan fisher in the panthers line up, his battles against cookie and sam (who is looking particularly good on the bigger away tracks) could be worth the trip on it's own. Here's hoping the fish is fully fit. Starting this thread early a wee bit selfishly as looking for advice on getting to Stansted Airport after the meeting. We have an early flight in the morning and looking at getting a taxi. A couple of websites suggesting £65 for a cab which sounds pretty reasonable. Any locals think this is unrealistic and any recommendation for taxi company..... We did look into bus/train options and it is posible but as there are 3 of us the overall cost won't be much different to a taxi and at least twice as long. Any suggestions for a pre-meeting aperitif would be welcome as well, should be down quite prompt as a short train ride from scunny. There's a Marriott Hotel and a Harvester pub/restaurant at the stadium entrance. That sounds about right for an airport taxi.
TheScotsman
6th April? They just kept it quiet, raced behind closed doors and haven't published the results. I hear it was a good meeting. I will be going past Stansted on my way back from the meeting, but only if it's on 6th May!! I could give you a lift back if you are interested.

Their is a good rail link to stansted airport from Peterborough, at least hourly if not more frequent than that.

Panthers89
Taxi rate is pretty reasonable to be fair, I'd say that's your best option.

Hope they can keep the track the same. Was told last night by Mick Horton that he has concerns about how the track will be for this meeting, as the showground has Truck fest this weekend and the track man won't have to much time to prepare it. TheScotsman
Oh damn. Plough fest it might be then. I suppose Cookie's moto x background might be a help then!!
Crump99
And they usually stub out their tabs on the airfence although that was taken down PDQ last night so may be locked away.
LagutaRacingFan
Peterborough United will be parading their Johnson's Paint Trophy before the match and Peterborough players are expected to be in attendance. Should be a cracking meeting, Expecting a crowd of over 500 personally. This is a match between the two best sides in the league.
