Adam Roynon Dropped By Sheffield

Recommended Posts

Don't really understand the Sheffield managements thinking behind this.

As much as I like Proctor, he is low on confidence and really struggling in EL at the moment so don't feel it will really strengthen them.

Whilst Roynon would have been available for all meetings, Proctor will miss meetings due to Doubling up and also more meetings means more chance of injuries.

Once again its another Brit losing their place instead of backing them.

Lost alot of respect for Sheffield and really hope Roynon finds another, better club soon

Hope Adam soon gets snapped up by a team that appreciates him a bit more. He is naturally talented, always gives 100% and is still a young Brit who can be an asset to any team.

Why give a rider a job and then sack him before we hit May?

It's crap and bollocks in my opinion, somebody like Adam who has fought his way back from life threatening injuries being kicked in the balls by the Sheffield management.

Our kid was doing a decent a job this year.

Sorry but I cant get this, lets feel sorry for Roynon, he may well be a well rounded, lovely guy who would do anything for anybody, but the promotion at Sheffield clearly feel they are better off without Roynon and with Proctor. Over the course of this season we will find out if they have got it right.

As for Roynon I`m sure there`ll be a team who are looking at signing him, maybe we will see him in a new team within the next week.

I can't believe that no-one has suggested that we would have been better off replacing Lanham with Proctor and keeping Adam Roynon. He's been poor so far this season, for Sheffield and guesting for Scunny against Ipswich.

.

The future is not too bright for Sheffield, gone from a professionally run Speedway club to a professional Speedway Club run by an amateur promotional Team led by Master Bates

Its a bit brighter than it was a few months ago matey--It was closing!!!!

Jesus they have dropped a rider, not the first club to and not the last,

Think you're right Screm. I've been looking at the various comments on the Sheffield facebook page that say others should have gone before Adam. I don't do facebook but I'm sure it must be based on personality and looks because on paper it's a no brainer. Comparing starting GSA with actual 2014 GSA. Stead 9.33/9.24, Roynon 7.81/5.60, Lanham 7.16/6.77,Poole 5.99/3.85, Nielsen 4.36/2.95, Compton 4.36/6.34, Bates 3.00/4.41. So Compton and Bates have improved, Stead is more or less the same, Lanham has dropped a third of a point but is getting used to a new track leaving Royno Poole and Nielsen as the under achievers. Nielsen has dropped 1.41 but the biggest drop is Roynon 2.21 with Poole close behind 2.14. If a heat leader (2nd in the averages ) is so far off the pace you new another heat leader. Hopefully this will jolt the other under performers into action otherwise next month I can see more moves!

I think this is a good move by Sheffield. Proctor is far more reliable than Roynon when it comes to falls and exclusions and I think Proctor's Elite League average is a bit lower than it would be if he had a Premier League team. Wolves should benefit from this change too as he'll be sharper going in to their meetings.

changing royno means only one change, whereas the rest would be at least 2.... Good move by Sheffield I think.

Wonder if he would ride for glasgow...if lemon was to go...would defo need loads and loads of shale to suit adams style.

Adam riding alongside Rusty, Dimitri or Anders could be very scary as he is accident prone ( not his fault generally )but a combination of riding with any of them could be very scary indeed. I already watch Dimitri through my fingers !!

It was going to be a tough ask for Adam to maintain that starting average especially being a No5.

Hope Royno gets fixed up I'd happily take him at Berwick on 5.60 for Jensen, never been el natural at Berwick

His team building average is 7.09 He's riding to 5.6. You'd have to drop Vissing or Doolan to fit him in

This move sends out a strong message to all the riders perform or you will be replaced. Not like under Mr Machin plodding on with the same team no matter what. It's about time we had a promoter who wants to win things. Mr Bates and co will be judged on results. If you want to be successful you have to make hard and unpopular decisions at times Adam will get fixed up no problem, and good luck to him.

Who'd be a promotor. No matter what you'd do in this situation your going to upset somebody. At the end of the day speedway is a professional sport driven by results. Poor results +Poor crowds = no speedway, and every body loses then. Bring in an Elite league rider and hopefully bums return to seats Only time will tell if Sheffield have got it right. Silverware at the end of the season as a funny way of bluring peoples memories. But failure sharpens them. Lets hope for the promotions sake that come the last weeks of October they are having to buy a tin of brasso and not hearing the chants of "I told you so"
