Adam Roynon Dropped By Sheffield

Recommended Posts

Absolutely gutted for Adam, he is a personal favourite of mine.

This could be a massive ruthless gamble by the new management.

But one of the things that the previous promotion has had labelled at it is that they have not been ruthless enough.

Not quite sure how I feel about the move, cannot help feeling that we would have been better sticking with Adam, but Proctor potentially a good signing if he can get his form back.

But one thing is for sure is that the new Promotion are not going to let the grass grow under their feet.

But one thing is certain Adam won't be long without a team, maybe Scunny will be his next destination, but on e thing he can be sure is he goes with the best wishes of all the Tigers fans.

Feel the same way.Gutted for adam but hes not been same as we saw last season possibly due to his injuries.I think this could be a warning to the rest to up their game or they will be on their way.Interesting to see how proctor performs. Will we be altering a few fixtures to accommodate him?

He'll be missing a few meetings too

May 3rd Berwick (A) koc

June 6th Edinburgh (A) koc

June 12th Edinburgh (H) koc

August 9th Berwick (A) pl

August 28th Ipswich (H) pl

Don't be daft! If Proctor's missing Berwick on May 3, Sheffield won't be racing Edinburgh in June.

your right there he has had a poor start to the season,I Personaly think he has always been a bit of a problem at most Clubs he has been at , plus he has been unlucky with injury.Only my opinion though.

I beg to differ on your opinion, Adam was never a problem when he rode for Cradley, always good with the fans, and a credit to the Sport, he maybe has had one injury to many, but still NO reason for him to get dropped at the present time, hopefully he will steer clear of injuries through 2014, and regain his best form, Sheffields loss could be someone elses gain, keep your chin up Adam, and good luck..

Starting to make sense now. Scunthorpe need a 7 pointer. So the club that is allegedly part owned by the Scunny promoter releases a 7 pointer for him to join Scunthrope.

Sheffield now Scunthorpes feeder team?

Good luck Adam! Gutted he's going, but I suppose a 5 and a bit average from a second heat leader with 7.8 starting average was going to make him a bit vulnerable. If he wasn't such a nice lad this would be easier to take and Its hard to separate the emotion from the logic in this decision.

Sheffield has gone from a club that was respected by most riders & fans even if they didn’t do well in competition they still had a decent following, but what have they done this season to gain the respect of the people who put their hard earned cash into the Sheffield coffers first of all they dispensed of the services of David Hoggart (Bad move IMO) and now they sack Adam Roynon, No problem with Proctor but is he that much better than Roynon to warrant his sacking, I think not.

The future is not too bright for Sheffield, gone from a professionally run Speedway club to a professional Speedway Club run by an amateur promotional Team led by Master Bates

It's disappointing, in fact I think it's pointless but reality check people. Speedway riders have been sacked for much less many times before! A team have sacked a 7.5 rider who is only averaging 5.5 this season - they can justify I guess.

You'd think they'd sacked him then murdered him in his sleep the way some of you are whining on.

Don't agree with you. Sheffield's following has declined in line with the decline in he team's performances over the last two years of promotional neglect. What planet are you on if you think the good people of Sheffield are happy for their team just to take part and follow the team regardless.(were the 2012 and 2013 teams worthy of being called true Sheffield teams?) Since I moved into the Sheffield area 10 years ago I have seen this once great club suffer from a lack of ambition. Well no more. The promotion that Damien Bates heads up (does he just head it up or is it him alone?) has the balls to make unpopular decisions for the good of the club. For me its like taking medicine. Some of us don't like it at the time but it makes us stronger. Parting with David Hoggart was Unpopular at first, and I quite liked him but it hasn't had any noticeable adverse affect. I dont like the fact that Adam has gone because I really like him too as an individual but I can see why they did it given his starting average and Current scores but we forgave him the scores because he was Adam, so it's really hard. If Sheffield want to get back to the glory days they cant do it by making popular decisions all the time. So contrary to your point I think the club is now being run professionally by people who have parted with their hard earned cash to save the club and are trying to make it into the sort of club where I want to spend my hard earned cash to go and watch them. Hopefully a winning team will bring even more back! UTT,
