boozer
I hope Stoke speedway sorts out its many problems and returns to being a decent sustainable set up! From what I've heard from many people in speedway and Stoke fans, the recent years have seen the standards drop big time and anyone constructively criticising the promotion (which the paying customer in particular those who've been going there for a lot of years have every right) have been met with abuse. The current problems epitomise this. I could not have put it better myself great post.

Fundinfan
A couple of seasons ago Stoke seemed to be making the effort to come up to date and provide some sort of professional entertainment package by employing the team from Coventry to provide music and rider jingles and an enthusiastic centre green presenter. This seemed to work well, but with dwindling crowds with meeting delays, generator problems and a far from engaging lady promoter behind the bar, things are as they are today, a total disaster.Maybe a new promotion could make things work, but you do need someone to put in some funds to give the punters a real night out at Loomer Road. BuxtonTiger
Going back to the text of this thread. It is now Wednesday so from what I have read, work should be well underway on the track. Malcolm, when is the next progress report going to be issued? More importantly do I need to get filled up with petrol for a trip to Stoke on Saturday or should I use my fuel to go to Buxton on Sunday? More importantly do I need to get filled up with petrol for a trip to Stoke on Saturday or should I use my fuel to go to Buxton on Sunday? A significant amount of work has been carried out at Stoke and continues today. The work is going well but is not complete but the track will certainly be ready by the weekend. All of the preparations described previously are in progress. I hope top provide full details and team news tomorrow. iannewsman
A direct quote from Mr Vasey in today's Sentinel newspaper, "The National Trophy is a competition that we want to do well in and winning your home meetings will go a long way to making that happen." This shows to me a typical lack of ambition and resignation to failure already. Surely, at this early stage in the season he should be saying, 'The National Trophy is a competition that we want to WIN!' No confidence in your team again Malcolm? jim the whipper
With Colin the blade coming and some new shale Stoke should be a good racetrack once again , The top 4 of the team look like a solid scoring quartet .and once the wheat is sorted from the chaff with the bottom 3 and necessary changes put in place , Stoke could well be a winning team , I think Stoke fans should be looking forward , If not a good season at least a better one than the last few

jim the whipper
Oh yes, until the stocks get on it and churn it up again. Tracks can cope with Stock cars bangers and speedway , Probably the best racetrack in the country KIngs lynn , Has stocks bangers go karts amateur meetings with 100 races etc , but on a wednesday night it's better than most for elite league , just needs good managment then all sports can live happily together . proud panther
Good luck to all at Stoke, especially Malcolm, who always responds to the negative comments aimed at Stoke. I suspect that his hands are tied when it comes to sorting a lot of the problems out, & I feel that sometimes the moaners are shooting the messenger.
semion
Unfair to lay any of the blame at Malcs feet. He is just the hired help who gets to come on here and take the flak
iannewsman
just needs good managment then all sports can live happily together . You have hit the nail on the head there my friend, as that is what Stoke has needed for over 20 years...Good management! Good luck to all at Stoke, especially Malcolm, who always responds to the negative comments aimed at Stoke. No, we are shooting the man who came in when Stoke were in the PL and he has been there as they have slid down to the NL and to last years fiasco season of being bottom and not completing the fixtures. If he comes on here as the spokesman and puts himself up as the public face of the team (after all he is the Co-Promoter/Team Manager and Press Officer) we are entitled to have a pop when the team is as bad as it has been. Unfair to lay any of the blame at Malcs feet. He is just the hired help who gets to come on here and take the flak As I said, If he comes on here as the spokesman and puts himself up as the public face of the team (after all he is the Co-Promoter/Team Manager and Press Officer) we are entitled to have a pop when the team is as bad as it has been.
proud panther
He still has to answer to his bosses, the same as a manager in any industry having directors to answer to. I think you would be better talking to the directors of Stoke speedway iannewsman, do you still attend speedway at Stoke ?
big lad
Proud panther, Have you not read all the posts on here about talking to the promotion? All you get is an earfull , as they seem to know all and dont want anyone giving there vIews

Whatever I am I am not a bitter and twisted failed announcer with a chip on his shoulder and words like a thunderstorm at funeral. You really are boring Ian with your constant attack on people who if they ever did a single good thing it was to dispense with your services and before the usual suspects come here to defend you plenty of people said that whilst you were in post. Get a life. There is a law concerning the deliberate use of media to deliberately harm a business with malicious attacks it is the Malicious Communications Act 1988 and I suggest you read the legislation very carefully and ensure that you retain a position the right side of the law. Our advice is that you have almost certainly already transgressed and all of your comments are retained in hard copy so take it easy. Just a word of advice in the face of your remarkable spate of damaging statements. Malcolm Vasey
berniev123
Well said as I am sick and tired of trolls who invade these pages as a Heathens and a true speedway fan since 1960!!!!!!!!!!!!!
iannewsman
Oh Malcolm that is pathetic. I know that piece of legislation extremely well. If I say anything that isn't true then fair enough. But opinion backed up by fact is perfectly ok. I would be very happy to test it in court. If you wouldd like to read you last post again I think you will find the law of libel could be used for some of that. I have been a journalist for 30 years and an internet journalist for over 6 years and opinion is allowed even if those who disagree don't like it. I am very happy with my life and more than happy that I don't waste my Saturday nights supporting a promotion that not only don't deserve it, but also never appreciated it. I have more than enough recorded and documented proof to counter anything you and the promotion might have. You don't scare me. What I stated is true. proud panther
iannewsman, if you don't go to Stoke anymore, why do you feel the need to slag the promotion off ? Sounds like sour grapes to me, & before you ask, I have never met Malcolm Vasey, so my opinion isn't biased towards him.
boozer
Its ok Ian just be warned and be careful. Malcolm Vasey It's good to see your main worry is about what someone might have said to upset the fantastic promotion team at Stoke, never worry about the pathetic promotion of meetings oh that is if they actually go ahead or the ever welcoming team at the gate, no let's worry about what has upset the promotion ( I use that term very sparingly). My own opinion is that you and your co promoters couldn't promote a pram race, oh gosh I'm not leaving myself open to slander am I oh dear. If you need to consult solicitors let me know and I'll pass on my details. Pathetic. Edited May 1, 2014 by boozer
