Peterborough V Newcastle - Tuesday 29th April

oh dear

What's oh dear about it? I probably didn't make myself clear enough. League to league the EL has the highest percentage of absolutely abysmal speedway tracks made even worse by the lose of Peterborough. That's all I meant. With only Wolverhampton, King's Lynn and Birmingham The stand out tracks. The Premier League offers a better racing selection in now Peterborough plus Somerset, Sheffield, Berwick, Scunthorpe, Workington occasionally, Ipswich.

There's far more entertainment on offer in the Premier League is all I was trying to get across. Wasn't intended as a my league is better than yours because on the whole, the PL wins hands down and I miss it at King's Lynn

It was just the needless attack on three tracks . I've seen very entertaining meetings on all three you said produced dross . And i've seen average meetings on some with the better reputations . Track prep is god and it's a consistancy which we seem to lack in this country . PL tracks can usually seem to get it right when SKY are in town , but maybe dont put in the same effort the rest of the time .

There can't be many clubs making money from gate receipts though.

Glasgow owner Gordon Pairman sadi in his programme notes on Sunday, no team could afford to run on gate receipts alone.

No they won't. They'll see an empty stadium and think that's definitely not the place to be.

People go to lower league football and when on TV the stadiums aren't full.

The PL has the better tracks and even more so now it's has given Leics in return for Boro so the racing will be better most of the time it's as simple as that .

Did anyone else notice Nigel saying that the PL pairs will be shown live on sky? I find it hard to believe that they'll be showing that, although would be probably be one of the best meetings they could show on sky.

Unless I was hearing things too, then yes, he said it's on Sky TV.. :t:

The "racing" this season at Ipswich has been dross. Since they invested heavily in widening the track a few years ago, the racing in the main has been very good.

This year, and only the promotion will know why, the track has been in an awful state. Little material, no grip and blue grooves!

Get the preparation right, and you'll get good racing on just about every track in every league.

Peterborough is one of the few tracks where you're bound to see good racing no matter how well prepared the track is!

Excellent race track and another good meeting tonight.

Well done Panthers.

Fantastic racing and great effort from the lads. Poor decision from team manager to use Rosen on black and white in heat 7 when he had already been 5 1'd and it was his first time on the track. It was so obvious it had to be henry in heat 8!

Well done to BOTH Teams tonight. A thoroughly entertaining Meeting with all the thrills and spills of Speedway. I thought that Robson, Henry and Lindgren did well for Newcastle, Rose tried hard and deserved more Points for his efforts. Kerr needs to get his Bikes sorted out - he was very well positioned in at least three of his rides before the gremlins struck Rosen and Schramm did OK. We were beaten by the better Team tonight.

A terrific Track gave us some tremendous Racing - thank you Peterborough for preparing it so well.

I think that we will probably ride worse than we did tonight Away from Home and come away with a Point or Three - Peterborough too are a very good Team.

Yet another GREAT advertisement for Premier League Speedway.

Great meeting for the PL. Comfortable win only because the luck went one way. Well done Newcastle who fought to the end and deserved some reward for all their effort. Superbly prepared track and good to see a decent crowd despite sky Pat on the back for the Promotion

Can't complain with the performance tonight. It was a cracking effort from all. Win, lose or draw I will never complain when I see effort like that. If only I could say the same about NUFC.

Lindgren is not a number 1 but he gave everything tonight. Nobody can complain when he rides like that regardless of the number on his back. Can't ask for anymore just need to see that more consistently.

Had we had any luck whatsoever we would have picked up a deserved point but when you have a rider have 4 engine failures, three times when leading, then what chance have you got - not to mention losing another rider through injury. I am not a mechanic so I won't criticise the lad. Just hope he can sort it soon as he's having a nightmare with machinery at PL level and it's obviously hurting us badly.

Superb track - absolutely wonderful and a brilliant meeting. Heat 13 was breathtaking.

The May averages put Robbo back -rightly-to no1. Was the impending removal of that strain a factor in us seeing an return to away form from Ludo I wonder.
