weatherwatcher
Take it all back. He did well last night just when he needed it most, the fans loved him and the rest of the team. Just keep it up Max and you will be the apple of Norries eye.

wandersome
Just going on what press releases say. If they are wrong, then they need correcting...glad that's cleared up I wasn't there but i hope Max did show some big improvement. How did our two look. It's all very well scoring well on your home track, but if you're only beating someone who is even more out of depth in this competition than Max (Ben Reade) and someone riding with a collarbone injury that meant he couldn't even beat Reade (Stefan Nielsen) it might not be quite the improvement it seems on the surface. I'm not trying to do their performances down but i do wonder if it needs putting into perspective to a degree.

The collarbone wasn't troubling Nielsen on Friday at Coventry winning ht 1 in one of the fastest time according to proboards. When was he supposed to have broken it? I'd say you can't buy or learn confidence so time will tell.

You may have a point Volty but hopefully these two wins will give him the confidence he needs. I think the crowd and his fellow riders reactions said it all on Saturday. Fingers crossed for them both Shirl

Yes there is an element of truth in who he beat, but you can only beat whats in front of you, I do know that when Max does gate for Cradley, he doesnt just win, but he does so in fast times. Its a tough one for Leicester to call do you stick or twist ? but very few alternative options around, and as i said if you dont expect to make the play offs, then go for the long term choice, especially if riders such as Doyley can help improve his gating. Shale Searcher
The Draft system was always going to be like this in its first year. How many clubs used to bring in unknown Poles, Fins, Swedes, sometimes, in fact most of the time it took half a season for them to become competent at completing 4 laps, let alone score points!! I think it's the fact fans have got so used to seeing "Ringer Reserves" especially over the last decade, some meetings heat 2 has been won in the same or quicker times than heat one! Go in, have a look at some old Speedway Stars from the 60's and 70's heat 2 race times........ They were mostly 3 to 4 seconds or more slower than heat ones..... Next year, how many of this year's drafts will be good enough to hold down a second string team place? I would hope 2 or 3 at least, there then should be at least one seasoned draft riders for each EL club to have one each, perhaps the number 7's ability/experience spread will be a touch hit and miss at the start of the season.. with some more New draft riders, but it's the right direction to go.... In my opinion.

SteveLyric2
Seems Belle Vue have given Ben Reade the push and brought Lee Payne into their Line-up Disgusting behaviour - how very dare they?! So another Swindon-born protégé becomes available......I wonder if he'll end up anywhere else in the EL?

In my opinion. Your theory is a good one Blackbird had certainly come on since becoming 2nd string in PL and you could argue the difference is minimal. You would think he would be a 2nd string as Kerr and Newman therefore making room for up and coming riders from this season. It's all good if the promoters can hold their nerve
