waiheke1
No disputing that. But the number 7 shouldn't be expected to beat the PL standard reserve. Therein lies the bonus. Reserves have always made a huge difference in a meeting. And of course now u cant have someone like smoli at reserves taking six hearts and racking up huge scores. Cant see any issue with teams replacing draft riders who are struggling, so long as its with someone lower on the draft list. No benefit to the rider if their confidence is just taking a batterring. In answer to the op, like most I would sssume smart Interesting? Fact. Of the bottom 10 riders in the el averages for season to date, 7 are reserves but 3 are heat leaders. Pirate Nick
Never got the best out of Doyle, that was all thanks to Swindon I think you'll find that Doyle finally having an op to sort out his recurring shoulder injury is what brought the best out in him. I can't believe someone would start a thread asking a question about speedway on a speedway forum either , what on earth was I thinking ? I'll start another one tomorrow which is more likely to spark debate , would "whats your favourite colour for a 3 piece suite" be too offensive ? Really depends on what colour carpet and wallpaper you have.

pointsmeanplayoffs
It was always going to be Smart. Poole tried to wriggle out of that deal before a wheel had been turned. It is the correct decision by Poole to release him to strengthen, more clubs should change riders quicker like Reade for example. Despite all the underhand stuff I've always said Poole will always make changes when needed. Will be interesting to see who they bring in though. There will be uproar if its Bates. It's ok getting a good pick in Newman but it would show the system up if they could replace potentially the worst rider in the draft list with quite possibly the best rider who was in the original list. Poole then (barring Ellis and Garritty) would have 2 of the best 4 riders. Can't be allowed to happen No-one can choose Bates as he withdrew from the FT draft system and isn't included on any of the lists. IF riders can be added to the list throughout the season, then that's when the problems could start.

I thought Bates was back in from some date in May & that riders can be added to the list so there will be problems.

One of the lines at the end of the draft list states that riders can be added or removed at each of the months FT grade list
Guest GiveusaB
I dont think that it will do the 'draft reserve' riders confidence any good whatsoever in dropping them after only a handful of meetings??? I thought the system was being introduced to give these guys some experience ? but it seems that its JUST about a team winning matches? Fair enough if they individually decide that it's not for them, or that its costing them too much financially? I think that they should all get at least a minimum of 6 home matches ! In this week's SS it states he's available from 1st May!! Although I confess that I thought I'd seen an earlier statement that said from 31st May?! I presume that some others on the list currently marked with a # (only able to guest!) might also change?! It did say somewhere the 31st May so guess someone has done something dodgy to get in him in their team & another backtrack from the powers that be. Why can't they just leave it as it was as these riders didn't want to go in the draft & should only be allowed in for an injured rider. Crazy robin
I have a feeling that we could drop Dan Greenwood for Benji Compton if Benji can score a few points for us tonight. No we can't as Benji is alot higher than Dan.
A ORLOV
I have a feeling that we could drop Dan Greenwood for Benji Compton if Benji can score a few points for us tonight. Benji is way above Dan on the list so not possible. It is unlikely the revised list for next month will reverse the positions.
Crazy robin
Oh Think we can get Kevin Pope, David Ashby, Mac Woolford or Martin Satchell in though
Grachan
Or Melvin Soffe. Surely we should be able to take anyone in the bottom half, not just someone below Dan.

Grachan
I can't remember Melvin Soffe. Legendary junior from the 1970s. I think he got as far as making the Weymouth side at some point. Typical of the type who would have been in the draft nowadays.

The choice should be anyone who was below the position of where Josh was on the list, the list no one saw.

MrMungo
Martin satchel I know that name from somewhere.Used to team-manage the Swindon Sprockets back in the day. Prior to that he rode a bit in the early 80s (I believe) with limited success. Was mechanicing for most of last year, not sure whether he still does. Was at Swindon the other week looking well.
