Workington Comets V Berwick Bandits 20/4

Recommended Posts

Hmmm, that's one race. Same move pulled by Chris Mills (on Jensen) in Heat 2 coming out of second bend and (much-more dangerously) by Rene Bach on Wethers -- who was clearly going past him -- with a right turn two-thirds of the way down the back straight in Heat 7.Now I'm condoning, or praising, no-one. But your quote of "dangerous" works for both sides.Good enough match, though, track drying out spoiled things a bit. Took a bit too long to run on a cold night.

Couldn't agree more CG. We were standing on back-straight and Mills firmly shut the door on Steen. That one I think was more 'legit' as it was less of an erratic move, more hard, and Steen had some time to see it and shut off.

The other 2 I think were more similar incidents and imo should have been dealt with same, I.e both excluded or both left in. The rider on inside in front and picking line to drift to right and block the run but they both misjudged the speed of the lads on the outside and clout! The only difference I think was the speed. Vissing/Morris was end of lap 3, Bach/Wethers start of lap 1, therefore faster which is probably why infield was calling for Morris. Wethers more experienced I guess. Both could have ended much worse. Riders on outside could also have shut off, but I guess it may not be part of their make up!! :-)

Really enjoyed the meeting though, some great racing, and Steen Jensen great value!

I have a feeling I know who you mean, and yes he would be a gem for any team.

Would have thought he would be chased higher than PL though?

Think you might be on the wrong track Eddie not AL but if you had spent sometime watching the afternoon practice you would quickly know who I mean he was flying then bags of potential. 👍

In some respects I can see why the club took on both Doolan and Kus as if both found previous form they would have a lot to offer over a new rider or a big hitting number one and a lower averaged second string but on early showing it appears that that is not going to happen. The league starts next week how long can we wait for it all to click. There are riders out there who can do the job. Tin hat on sand bags piled up ready for the incoming.

Most fans would agree with the way the Team was structured ,but when you built strenght in depth team you can't have Heat Leaders running last places against the opposing reserves. Edited by Fromafar

There are lots of different permutation, Doolan seems to start the season sluggishly has done since his last Kings Lynn campaign 2010.

He will start scoring but not until he gets out of the No1 pos and it's mid season

Carr is being carried, the is more pressure on Jensen, from reports he is improving with every week, this needs to continue

Vissing' scores will taper off when at No1 hopefully not by much.

Wethers is maxing out full capacity at the moment

Which leaves Bellego who can be a World beater on his day beating Polish hero Jarek Hampel but can also struggle to get near Wilko at Berwick.

Kus will score about his average and that's about it

Newcastle this weekend is a MASSIVE match, Maximum points ideally if that means roughing the track up a bit and George English moans about the track so be it.

We wont get any change or help in the return leg

Some hard riding on both sides on Sunday evening!!

What a meet, i did think at the half way stage that the Comets were heading for another defeat but they came out fighting in the second part of the match.

Some really close races provided good entertainment...........if that does not keep the fans coming back for more i do not know what will.

Berwick have a decent team but just lacked the consistency from Vissing and Doolanto score points.

Another tough meeting next week when Worky take on the Panthers!

Oh can the guy who plays the "music" please get some better cds..............

According to Look North advanced weather forecast today it looks like a rain off on Saturday, didn't look promising at all?

Requests on a postcard please!! :P Personally, I would prefer that WTRL actually got the PA system up to a 21st century standard so I could actually hear what's being played before I make a decision on the standard of "music" being output? ;)
