DAVEK
Surprised no one has started a thread for tonight's first must win meeting (the second being tomorrow's return leg). Any thoughts on whether we can achieve the double over Redcar? SHEFFIELD: Simon Stead, Simon Nielsen, Leigh Lanham, Taylor Poole, Adam Roynon, Andre Compton, Josh Bates.REDCAR: Richard Lawson, Rafal Konopka, Hugh Skidmore, Carl Wilkinson, Aaron Summers, Jan Graversen, Luke Crang. boz
Really not sure what the outcome of tonight will be. Not sure what Lawson is like around Sheffield, but is in excellent form at the moment. Would fancy Skiddy to get a few points as well. Would be happy to sneak a point i think tonight. Doolan for Lawson weakens us in the home leg but fancy that the rest of the team can pick up the slack.
spin king junior
Should be a big win at home after the hammering of Scunthorpe. With regards to tomorrows meeting, i think we could pick up a point. They're already under power with Konopka finding his way in British speedway and will definitely be weaked by the absence of Lawson. Cue Ball
Not sure what Lawson is like around Sheffield, but is in excellent form at the moment. Lawson was effectively our number 1 for most of last year - on his current form I would not expect him to drop many points. We have to be confident of being able to get 3 points tonight and something out of tomorrow night - as Junior has said with Lawson missing and Konopka finding his feet, we are not going to race them at a better time. jenga
sheffield are about to be run over by a car, a redcar..
Halifordukesfan
Sheffield must be favoured at home with Richard Hall's absence.
rolypolygoly
I would like to see a Bears win tonight, but any kind of points gleaned would still leave us as favourites to qualify to the next stage, but first and foremost I hope it is a good meeting and all riders stay safe. Would have liked to have been there, but more important things have kept me at home, watching the updates

Carrying a few passengers and Rich, takes a lot of weight on his shoulders. Should be close though.
Yearbyred
Good effort from the Bears - the loss of Richard Hall round his old track cost us all the points probably. Happy with a point though.
jenga
looks like the pedestrian tigers just managed to dodge the redcar. sheff not that good at the mo, but redcar. they are getting pretty warm..
boz
Pleased with a point which should hopefully see us over the line - bit disappointing to let a 6 point lead go though. Would have took the point at the start though so can't be too unhappy!
Cue Ball
Good meeting with some good racing. Lanham was a deserved man if the match. Stead found his gating gloves after 2 rides fortunately. Nielson was unlucky - I spoke to him afterwards and he felt he hadn't touched Graveson. Not sure what is happening with Poole, a match winner against Newcastle and now just doesn't seem to be able to get things to click. Roynan just doesn't seem like he has the speed at the moment, he's still got the moves but seems to be down on power. Andre scored 3 0 3 0 3 and that about summed his night up, awesome move on Lawson to get his second win and them came last in a much easier next ride. What a week Bates is having! Looked so much better tonight, fast out the start and no last places - confidence or set up? Whichever it was, it's working. For Redcar, difficult to pick a stand out rider as they all performed well, but for me I'm not sure if I have ever seen Wilkinson ride that well before, he was very fast and perhaps a touch unfortunate to not score more. I could see that another trip or 2 to Owlerton would see the Polish guy being a different proposition to the one that only got 2 tonight.
Steve55
Tigers lucky tonight - one winner out of first four heats at home is just not good enough! Nielsen & Poole are not pulling their weight at present and need to show improvement - fast! Once again before 7.30pm - no programmes available - sold out, felt so sorry for the kids selling them with dozens of punters stood around complaining about something that isn't their fault. The management really need to sort this out, twice this has happened in only five meetings, it's unprofessional and bad for business, although I'll bet there will be plenty next week for the British semi-final when they'll be a fiver each! Can't see anything other than another away massacre tomorrow night, even if Lawson isn't riding. Tigers just can't seem to get going until halfway through the meeting, and that's at home!
HadrianDog
Looks on paper to have been a good close meeting for the in-house spectators. Obviously, being a Diamonds fan, I was rooting for the home team but the Bears came to the party and provided good entertainment.
foamfence
Redcar might well regret letting that slip away, as Doolan replaces Lawson for Fridays return.

Tigers just can't seem to get going until halfway through the meeting, and that's at home! i arrived just before 7.30 and I got a programme. Probably one of the last given the above.. BUT The lady on the stand explained that as the print quality wasn't what they expect they were free with donations accepted at the customers' discretion. So i suppose its inevitable they all went. There will have been people taking a programme who wouldn't have bought one normally. As for what it was like, I didn't see much wrong with it. The racecard is 10 times better than a couple of weeks ago. Nice touch giving out the eggs for kids and the signed Josh Bates photos as for the team, the scond strings need to pull their fingers out. No way should they score 2 between them at home Thankfully the reserves stepped up and Sheffield scraped a win. Some good races and a last heat decider. What more could we ask for? Well a 7 point win maybe, but we always had to win at Redcar so we just need to win up there by 7 tonight. Might have a drive up and take my lad

Totally agree. The management are really trying hard but the programme issue is getting beyond a joke.I got there at 7.30 and programmes just sold out.The standard of it is poor. They seem to be altering one bit each week, why not just sort the whole programme in one go ? Felt sorry for Nielsen last night when he was excluded, looked bit harsh to me.Taylor poole needs to get sorted, hes far better than the performances hes carding at the moment.Steady needs some consistency and josh looks to have turned the corner with his form.
