Berwick Vs Workington Sat 19 April

Recommended Posts

Just got back from Berwick, good second half to the meeting and Jensen looks a good acquistion for Berwick. Nothing to do with Howarth leading a Comets 4-2 at the time but how can a referee wait 'til one lap has been completed and put the lights on for an unsatisfactory start? It would have looked strange if a rider had come off on bends 3 & 4 and an unsat start had been called with all 4 back. Also by letting riders race on full pelt he's putting them at risk of crashing and being injured. Hope both Mason and Bellago are ok for tomorrow.

from our vantage point the red lights came on second bend however the Rakers on third and fourth bend were oblivious to this and didn't see lights on and failed to put flags out till last min Edited by Goodiepatchie

When will this team all start firing at the same time till they do we will not win any matches on the road . Come on guys you are better than this .

It's an on-going problem that seems to afflict many of the Comets sides in recent times, always look good on paper but, takes an awful long time to translate onto the track and, as you say, it is especially apparent away from home?

i was at refs box area seen them come on by time they got to second bend

I sit in the stand and as you say the red lights came on almost straight away, sad thing was the in field track staff seemed oblivious to the whole thing, almost for a full lap.

Why doesnt every track employ the same method as used at Newport over the years, the 2 minute warning alarm sounded when the red lights came on, it can't be rocket science to wire it up.

That's an impressively negative view after a victory against a team viewed by many to be one of the better ones in the league.

Having watched Matt Weathers for the last 10 years while he is not a superstar he is what speedway all about 4laps 100% great entertainer in the Makovsky ,Clews mould. If he has a poor meeting you can accept it, but with some others it p*sses fans off when they consider there is lack of effort If there were more riders put in the same effort there would be a lot less moaning from fans of all teams IMO.

At DP they cant even get the PA system wired up right so don't ask for another run of wire to do alarm bells as well!! ;)

Could also employ "bigger" red lights that flash instead of those 60w bulbs that you normally find under your living room fire, that would help!! :D

At Berwick there is a red light siren located above the referee's box (all tracks should have this because the red lights could fuse so this way at least the starting gate staff can hear).

The referee has this switch next to the red stop lights. This way you don't need to confuse the 2 minute warning with the red lights alarm.

The red lights at Berwick do flash (do they now flash at DP?).

The 2 minute flashers also go off when the green light comes on for the tapes so riders don't get confused by thinking that they see a red light when in fact it's the 2 minute light.

As far as I am aware the red stop lights do not flash at DP, unless the ref decides to keep flicking the switch on and off, don't think they ever have to be honest but I may be wrong on that, perhaps in the early days?
