No fixture is meaningless if you have paid good money at the turnstiles{or net as I do}. Its the smell and the atmosphere that many fans come to savoir. We can but hope the that the lads will do the business and cream the Scunny scallywags. Remember that 'bragging rights do matter' when it comes to team morale for the real league season. Rule on the Panthers fixture on the telly a week Tuesday. Yeah I know we have the Bandits next weekend which I hope to attend, but the Diamonds on the telly against the Peterborough Panthers- exactly which one is the most prestigious as we ride against a team for the first time in How Long.

Probably about 1998.

Cannot believe what I was reading when I looked in on the updates !! what on earth was going on up there tonight ? Far too many re-runs - sounds like it was a bit harum scarum.

Never is is it!!!!...

It was nothing to do with the track. Basically a weak referee.

One or two riders started putting it about and before long most of them were at it. Kerr had words with Auty in the pits and Rose with Jorgensen. Lots of elbows and handbags.

If you want to know how the track was look at Schrammy - never fell of once. :D

I like Douglas mind... He's gonna be good, a tad over zealous at times but very impressive.

Jorgensen is a disgrace to park his bike like he did with riders hurtling towards him was horrible to watch.... Then to deliberately fencing an opponent!! .... Didn't think he was like that??

I thought the track was poor to be honest..... riders were making mistakes on every bend.

Such a drawn out long meeting though.

Jorgensen should've been thrown out of the meeting leaving his bike in the middle of bend 1/2 as the race continued..... Total lack of respect for the other riders.

It was NOT due to the track. Had nothing to do with it

The problem was twofold in that certain Scunny riders were prone to elbowing opponents to get through, and the new phenomena of Auty gating but deciding to take off any home rider was challenged him for the lead. I think I have heard something recent about the latter.

Now the big issue. After another first run of heat 10 due to the above, in the second rerun Tommy decided he had come off worse and, due to the ref not playing the game and stopping the heat for Tommy to have another go, he cowardly placed his bike on the track, on the racing line coming out of the second bend, remonstrating with the ref. If it had not been for the quick thinking of the flag marshals, and then the red lights, a major collision could have occurred. Yes he was correctly excluded from the rerun, but surely he should a, have been slung out of the meeting, and b, should be reported for his action and receive a sizeable ban for dangerous behaviour. Many years ago a World Champion left his bike on a straight and got a sizeable ban. Tommy decided to leave it in the worst position he could , on the racing line coming out of the second bend, when riders would be on full power. It obviously is against the SCB rules, but it was a crass, cowardly and stupid action to bring potential danger to his fellow competitors. That is unforgivable and shows no respect by risking fellow riders in his protest. I honestly hope that Jorgensen has been reported for it, i heard he had been fined, and that he receives a massive ban from UK speedway. Speedway is a dangerous enough sport without nutters within showing no respect to their fellow riders. Quite frankly I was amazed he was still riding in a heat 2 races later.

It would be interesting to hear the view of the Scunny Team manager of the events given that Dave Peet used to be a referee.

Onto the meeting. Some would say a dead rubber with nothing to ride for, but they could not have been more wrong. In between the many reruns there was some exciting racing from both sides, with a home defeat a possibility with the poor returns of Christian and especially Kerr. Fortunately our fortunes changed with the heat 10 calamity, followed by a 4-2 and 2 5-1's to make the win pretty safe. Auty has learnt to gate  , and had a decent meeting, Howe useful as normal, and Douglas showing some tigerish form.

For the Diamonds, can I say that Ludde didn't let us down with a cracking performance of power, aggression, and amazing speed to justify his correct title of the DIAMONDS NO 1. Add to that brilliant passing and riding from Robbo and Ant, and with the other contributions saw out a comfortable win to reach 49 points.

Bloody freezing night, but some canny racing on a grippy track, which needed regular grading. Produced great racing, just the same as Scunny fans say about their deep track, but it was riders that won not the track.

Now onto the Premier League.
